This is such a great song with a long history, and since it repeats the same basic verse melody many times, it worked so well for arranging some variations.

It's really interesting to see the variations you developed over the same repeated melody throughout your cover. As you went along, you gave this tune more color with your accompaniment and harmonic variations, and also with the fillers you added in between melodic lines. I LOVE this! The variations worked perfectly and I loved the build up through the piece and the dolcissimo ending. Just lovely. It’s a piece that I’ve been asked to play many times (we love an hour from our seaside town called Scarborough) and I love to improvise on Scarborough fair combined with greensleeves. I am one of those pianists that like music to start very soft and quiet and then build - and I hear elements of this in the style that you have put together in these variations. Why does this version sound different than the one on Spotify? and which one does the sheet music correspond do? would like to know before I purchase it. @the chillest
Hi! Sometimes I re-record my UA-cam versions to be even more relaxed sounding on Spotify. Otherwise they’re the same arrangement. The sheet music was made to be exactly the same tempo and markings as the UA-cam version but it should correspond with the slower Spotify version as well
Thanks for your response! do you have any tips for trying to tackle this as a relative beginner? as in, should I first learn the right hand melody and then incorporate the bass chords? and how do I maintain using the correct fingers for each note?
It definitely wouldn't hurt to learn the hands separately at first, and then incorporate them together at a slower tempo. Then you can work the tempo up a little at a time, working on smaller sections, like each variation, or even just 2-4 measures at a time. As far as fingerings, I don't have those marked on the sheets, but you can watch my hands and use the slow down function built into UA-cam to see which fingers I use for any lines where you need help
