I’m working on saying “yes” to things that get me out of my comfort zone and push me to be a better artist! Some weeks are better than others, but I’m proud of myself for how the past week has gone. I spent time outdoors plein air painting by the river, attended an in person life drawing session and met some local artists, and I tried some new painting supplies to fix issues I have been having with my oil paintings. Don't be afraid to take risks and try new things - you may be surprised at what you can accomplish!

I love ❤️ you ashleigh
Your portrait progress is sooo good! I love the softness in your work (both the style and the mood). This gives me hope for improving my own people paintings too!
I agree with others on here! Thank you so much for this episode. It’s nice to know other artists feel Uncomfortable about things as well. 🙏🏻 Love your channel! Love how relatable you are and how you inspire others ❤
Plein air such a lovely, relaxing experience, I recommend it to everyone ❤
Hi Ashleigh, thanks for uploading such a beautiful video on such a beautiful day :) 💐🌸🍃
Thank you!! It’s a beautiful day where I am too 😊✨
Exciting to see you're taking in person art classes! I miss art school - would love to hear and see more of the work you're doing in your classes too. ✨
You are the best💗Keep going and always be the best and the most beautiful 🌸🫂There are those who take inspiration from you and prepare to build a future with your encouragement 🌟Videos are positive energy and watching them makes me feel comfortable ❤I swear🥺💗 Keep ashleigh💕🌸
This is so sweet 🫶🏼 thank you so so much!
hi Ashleigh your videos helped me start my art business thank you so much. i bought an epson at your recommendation and have been able to create work seamlessly may God bless your business and efforts
A tip for oil paints when painting with them wait for the different layers to dry then paint again because sometimes the colors don't mix well and the gray if not dry
Your vlogs are so comfortable and provide me with a lot of room to grow. Love u and wish to meet u .😊🤗😘😍
nice day to watch vlogs✨️
😊🫶🏼
I would seriously keep up those "in-person" art sessions. Those are some of my favorite memories as an artist. Sadly, my area just doesn't have near as many as it used to. Glad you're having so much success expanding you're horizons. Trust me, it's WAY to easy to fall into the "Comfort Zone" trap. Great Vlog! 👏👏👏👏
It took me a while to find some, but it was great to talk to some local artists! Thanks so much for the encouragement!
Beautiful painting at the end and this was really inspiring. Even though you are an amazing artist, to see you get nervous and still go to the art class was very uplifting. Thank you and have the very best day and a wonderful weekend.
Your videos are getting better every time🦋.
Thank you 🥹❤️
Such a beautiful answer to inner voice
I like that you are observant with how your tools are working for you. You focused on so many things and brought them to our attention, thanks so much. While I don’t think I’ll ever paint like you do, I will take some of your observations and apply them to my interests. Thanks!❤
Hi Ashleigh,, I find tranquilty in watching you paint outdoor.. Thank you for sharing your experience..
I've never done painting outside of my room.
I think I'm gonna try it.
🙏🙏🌷🌷♥️♥️
Thank you for the motivation! I just tried oils for the first time as a watercolor/gouache artist, and stepping out of my comfort zone was hard at first, but also very rewarding. ❤️🎨😊 Thank you for sharing your journey, and inspiring message!
Your art is absolutely amazing love this video
One good trick to get your paint flowing well is to spread a thin layer of oil (or medium of your choice) onto the canvas or panel before you start painting. This lets you stsrt getting wet into wet effects right off the bat, in addition to drastically improving paint flow straight from the tube.
I always love your art vlog videos, it's unchangingly beautiful and aesthetic! Perfectly you're so good feeling! ✨💕😍
Hi Ashleigh, u always inspire me. Thank you so much
I also sometimes go to paint outside. It may seem easier because I am an watercolourist but I have the same constraints: the light, the curious, the wind... Magnificent work and nice video, thank you for sharing this moment with us.
I love the vulnerability you put in your paintings ❤
I really appreciate you saying this❤️
Omggggggg Acabas de hablar en español !!!! Me fascina!!
Your videos are always such a joy to come back to for inspiration. Please continue to inspire others and yourself! ❤
Your videos are even a work of art thank you so much!
Everything you do is wonderful 🍃🍃🌄😊
Your videos are so inspiring and satisfying , thanks for creating such a video . After watching your video i cannot stop myself from making art . Love from India .
I am hoping to be able to plein air this year. Been wanting to try it out for so long.
definitely go for it! If nothing else, it's great to spend time outside
That's so beautiful, ashleigh!!🥺♥️
Pintar ao ar livre deve ser maravilhoso...nunca fiz, mas deve energizar a alma.
Love your plain air painting. Gifted
love watching your videos 🥺💗💗
This is so beautiful 😌 thank you for sharing your thoughts and journey with us. You are inspiring ♥️
You could try some linseed oil. I tend to use some gel medium in the middle layers and a little bit of linseed oil and less gel as the painting progresses and finish up with just the oil medium for final details
your smile make a day...
Wow... I'm in love with the second painting❤️❤️❤️ so pretty
soo excited to get out once the weather pirks up. Lovely day and painting for you
I was lucky to get a warm sunny day! Hope your weather changes soon too.
Gosh i’ve missed watching your videoss❤ i’ve been really busy latelyyy, finallyy i could take a time to relax a bit to watch your videos💗
so glad you've got some time to relax!! I took a few days off this weekend and it was lovely :)

Thank you so much!
Such a lovely vlog 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it😊
Now I want to go paint twisted up logs by my local river. Really cool perspective!
Stunning
So inspiring 🤩 I love the ambience of your videos and your art is so beautiful! 😍
It's a pity that there is cold in my area now, so I have a break from painting outside.
Thank you!! I hope your weather changes soon too!
Love your videos ❣️
I love your painting
The painting is so wonderful
I appreciate that!
Love your videos, and love you 🖤❤️
Thank you so much!!
beautiful
Ashleigh, this was fascinating! Actually, it usually is, because I become involved in watching those little flicks with your long brush which produce such accurate and clean marks.
I'm a [mostly] plein air watercolourist of many years, so shorter brushes are the norm, so I was watching most intently when you were working on that lovely fallen tree with as much ease with your oils and equipment as at your easel in the studio. As someone else has suggested, maybe a folding stool (some are very lightweight and fold very small) will help you to step back, ease the muscles a little and take a short break with a soft / hot drink?
I also appreciated your honesty about the life class. I hope that now you've done it once, you can keep that up, not only for practice with life models, but also (and mostly) for practice with social contact with other artists. I'd love to know more about this new adventure. Here in this small French town, I still have to find the art community - it must exist, but I haven't found it yet!
😊
Thank you so much! Bringing a stool is a great idea and I will definitely look into that. I hope to continue the life drawing sessions! They only meet once a month, but it is better than nothing. I hope you can find a local art community soon too :)
Might I suggest Neo Megilp for your oil paint flow issue? It's a gel medium that I've found loosens the paint but not too much!
I will check it out! Thank you 😊
hiii i love every time you post and love your paintings💕. I know you probably won’t reply but I wanted to ask something and if anybody else has any advice for me you can respond to this too. But I’ve been wanting to start my art journey but I have things holding me back for me I don’t know how to balance with my mental health and also comparing the art I do to other artist work feeling like mine is ugly or it won’t ever be perfect or it’s not enough. I want to know how to start my art journey and how do I deal with those negative thoughts or comparison and if you were to give me any advice on where to start in my art journey what would it be? I also am not that great at drawing but at the same time I can draw some things and art is something I’m interested in so what would you recommend for that. Please reply and if you don’t it’s fine😊.
Hi! Believe it or not I still feel the same way about my art too. So I understand how difficult that can be to keep the motivation to keep practicing. Something that helps me is to keep in mind how much practice I’ve done compared to others. Likely they’ve been working on their art a lot longer than I have, so it’s not fair to myself to compare my art to theirs. I know that if I keep working at it and put in as much practice as they have, I’ll have work comparable to theirs too one day!
Especially since you said you’re just starting art, definitely give yourself lots of patience and grace. It would be ridiculous to have someone who’s never played a sport play against a professional athlete and expect them to win. The same with art, we all have different levels of practice and skill based on how much time we put in. So take your time and maybe don’t look too much at others art if it’s causing you to stop practicing 😊❤️
@@AshleighKing Ashleigh, that is such a wise reply! We are our own worst enemies, and to break the habit of comparing ourselves with others without the allowances you have spoken of, is never easy, but it is essential. 😊
@@AshleighKing you replied!!! thank you so much for this advice it’s so hard but I’ll keep trying😊❤️.
I'm in love with you and your art work ❤️......
That painting of the tree angled to the river is beautiful and did you can comment from the your video that you went to an art museum
Soo cute! Im also trying to do my own yt channel because of u! U motivate all of uss!! ♡♡
Hi Ashleigh,I found your channel few days ago.Ireally like your vieos.I like following your vlogs.I'm from Sri Lanka.💜💜💜💜
lovely sparkly fairy 😀
“Or maybe I needed singing lessons” 😂 saaaame lol
🇪🇸 hi, thanks for your share, your painting is very nice, it is very nice to listen to you in Spanish 😅, greetings from old Spain, 🎨 at southern Europe, you are a very beautiful and pretty woman, but the most pleasant thing for me is your way of thinking 💭
What brushes and panels did you use for the portrait. I am struggling to find the right tools that will make blending easier. :) 10:29
Do you use cold press paper when using water color paint? It’s not flat enough for me
Don't know if it is the different technique you use, but I see a big difference in this portrait and the ones you did in the begining of thid channel. The painting is much softer, I personally prefer this style 😊
thank you!! I've been trying to get softer edges and I think the softer brushes and oil primed panels made a big difference.
👏🖤
😍
What is that big box she is painting in ??? ❤ I want to buy that
Nice plein air kit. What were the pliers for? The paintings turned out great. Do you think a folding canvas chair or stool would work in a spot like that as a way to paint more comfortably? I think your facial likeness game has come a super-long way, and maybe that's also because you're switching up your supplies to ones which work best for your process. You can probably thank Disney for the crazy childhood idea of singing to nature as the squirrels and racoons gather to listen, although there is a video in IG where a cellist is playing in a park and a curious moose comes uncomfortably close to her, apparently drawn by her playing.
Thank you! I use them to get my paint tubes open, sometimes they stick haha. A portable chair will definitely help, thanks for the idea! I did watch a lot of Disney movies as a child, so I think you're right lol.
it's good
Amazing video as always dear friend 😊
Hello Ashleigh 😀
I'm watching this 13 days later 😅 I don't know why I'm so late😮

Hii
Спасибо за видео. Для Вас небольшое стихотворение: Люди все слепы, с рождения,
Летящие в небесах, облаками,
Гонимые ветром, на Восток. Ом Мани Бадме Хум. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful words 😯
Hi 🙌🎨❤
I stand in solidarity with pretending to be Snow White or Aurora with the lil woodland animals TnT You captured the environment so beautifully despite the dry winter and leaveless trees❤
✨️🙂👋🌷
はじめまして。貴方の絵はおおらかさがあって好感を持っています。貴方が使用されている画材BOXは手軽でいいですね。どこのメーカーですか?購入手段をよろしければ教えて下さい
try upgrading your paint to professional as well. There is a reason why its more expensive. Nice to see your progression.
You making a video like painting 🎨
what is your name? and where do you come from?
Your content is different than mine but I wish people watched it like yours! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I was laughing when you were prepping, you were describing the things you were bringing with you like snacks and water and I'm like, you should have said if you don't know how to poop in the woods then you shouldn't venture very far. Then I was laughing again when you were loading your box I noticed the scissors and I wonder what those were for, that I noticed the needle nose pliers, and I wonder what those are for, and then I was thinking you should have loaded like handcuff keys and a few other mysterious items just for comic relief.
Hahah that would have been funny 😂
your name is spelled wrong
Hey Ashleigh, i just bought the same printer, idk if you knew but the back of the printer has a slot that can fit 11 by 17 paper for you to print, bc I was freaking out that I couldn’t print my 11 by 14 painting, just letting you know and I love your content! You inspired me to start a art shop and I just followed you on insta
Can you do a winter landscape someday?
I would love to! Unfortunately it doesn't snow much where I live haha...
@@AshleighKing Is it very difficult, there are many snow scenes on the internet
@@AshleighKing you can conquer the world with this talent
Everything you do is wonderful 🍃🍃🌄😊
