I love the size of your shade. I made a ton of these back in the 70's and they sold as fast as I could make them. The largest balloon I could find was a blow up "punch ball" which had a nice handle to hold while wrapping. If you do any more here's a tip. Mix your white glue and water in a Storage container or bowl with a tight lid. Put the whole ball of twine in the container and let it soak in the glue before you start. Punch a hole the size of yr string in the lid and run the end of the string thru the lid then replace the lid on the container. As you pull the twine the lid will help remove the excess glue from the twine to make wrapping much less messy. I also taped a small plastic container to the top of the ball and punched a hole in it so the handle of the punch ball fit thru it. Each wrap at that end would go around the container's edge making a very neat opening large enough to fit your hand and the light bulb thru. If there is no handle then just tape the container to your balloon. You can also tape some thing smaller like a tp roll covered in foil or saran at the other end and wrap the twine around it to eliminate the need to drill a hole for the socket cord. I love your esthetic and it reminds me so much of the decor I've loved even when "country, rustic, farm house" and every other fad decor tried to pull me away!
@@audreystein4309 I used a plastic cottage cheese container to form the opening in the shade. I cut a small hole in the bottom of the container so the punch ball handle would fit thru it. You dont have to have a handle but I find it easier to hold the ball if you do. I then Duck taped the container to the punch ball or balloon. When wrapping the twine around the ball instead of wrapping over the container I would wrap around it close to the edge where the ball and container meet. Then back up and around the punch ball. I hope that I'm explaining it ok. Sort of Like Katia added the bowls at the top of her yoga ball but instead of wrapping over those bowls you just wrap around them to form an opening. The cottage cheese container can be easily removed once the twine is dry and the ball or balloon is deflated.
I had seen this video before and just wanted to see it again. I just love that fixture. It’s so earthy and beautiful. I love the organic, earthy decor that you are attracted to. You have wonderful skills and a great eye.❤
I definitely have to make my own, smaller version. Luckily I live on the Mississippi coast, so beach balls of all sizes are in abundance🎃. Thank you Katia❣
This is insanely creative and so entertaining to watch! The yoga ball hack is genius to avoid popping! I would love to do this in our new home! Thanks for the inspo girl
Made this and it worked really well, thank you for the video! I recommend using A LOT of string. I used around 190m and should probably have used even more than that.

Stunning! Thanks for sharing and congrats on making this beautiful piece. The video is very clear but just to make sure might I ask how much mod podge glue did you end up using? and rope (ft or cm)? Anything I should watch out for? 🙏
OMG, did you realize how many times you flipped that huge ball? All I have to say is “you are a very patient woman” I would have been pulling all my hair out!! Turned out beautiful though!!
I would have never guessed that you made this! I just assumed you got it somewhere where you've traveled to! I have been in love with it ever since I saw it!
Second video of yours I've watched, and I immediately noticed your light in the first one. I can usually clock a DIY and I figured this was a high end piece. Fantastic job!
WOW....tenacity and will power and a really BIG ball. GIRL POWER! Well done you! I enjoyed oldladytoofast's contribution to this project and her years of experience. I was curious if either of you think that any method of dry wrap and use of a spray bottle with the goo contents would work? Perhaps spraying the ball/form a foundation of goo? There has to be an less gooey way to pendant nirvana. : )

@@leighannteegarden6076 you're welcome. I hope you try to make one. They are easy. A bit messy but well worth it.
Please explain about the plastic container on top again and how you created the neater opening. I can't picture it. Thanks.
