I love the size of your shade. I made a ton of these back in the 70's and they sold as fast as I could make them. The largest balloon I could find was a blow up "punch ball" which had a nice handle to hold while wrapping. If you do any more here's a tip. Mix your white glue and water in a Storage container or bowl with a tight lid. Put the whole ball of twine in the container and let it soak in the glue before you start. Punch a hole the size of yr string in the lid and run the end of the string thru the lid then replace the lid on the container. As you pull the twine the lid will help remove the excess glue from the twine to make wrapping much less messy. I also taped a small plastic container to the top of the ball and punched a hole in it so the handle of the punch ball fit thru it. Each wrap at that end would go around the container's edge making a very neat opening large enough to fit your hand and the light bulb thru. If there is no handle then just tape the container to your balloon. You can also tape some thing smaller like a tp roll covered in foil or saran at the other end and wrap the twine around it to eliminate the need to drill a hole for the socket cord. I love your esthetic and it reminds me so much of the decor I've loved even when "country, rustic, farm house" and every other fad decor tried to pull me away!
@@audreystein4309 I used a plastic cottage cheese container to form the opening in the shade. I cut a small hole in the bottom of the container so the punch ball handle would fit thru it. You dont have to have a handle but I find it easier to hold the ball if you do. I then Duck taped the container to the punch ball or balloon. When wrapping the twine around the ball instead of wrapping over the container I would wrap around it close to the edge where the ball and container meet. Then back up and around the punch ball. I hope that I'm explaining it ok. Sort of Like Katia added the bowls at the top of her yoga ball but instead of wrapping over those bowls you just wrap around them to form an opening. The cottage cheese container can be easily removed once the twine is dry and the ball or balloon is deflated.
Made this and it worked really well, thank you for the video! I recommend using A LOT of string. I used around 190m and should probably have used even more than that.
WOW....tenacity and will power and a really BIG ball. GIRL POWER! Well done you! I enjoyed oldladytoofast's contribution to this project and her years of experience. I was curious if either of you think that any method of dry wrap and use of a spray bottle with the goo contents would work? Perhaps spraying the ball/form a foundation of goo? There has to be an less gooey way to pendant nirvana. : )
I had seen this video before and just wanted to see it again. I just love that fixture. It’s so earthy and beautiful. I love the organic, earthy decor that you are attracted to. You have wonderful skills and a great eye.❤
This is insanely creative and so entertaining to watch! The yoga ball hack is genius to avoid popping! I would love to do this in our new home! Thanks for the inspo girl
Stunning! Thanks for sharing and congrats on making this beautiful piece. The video is very clear but just to make sure might I ask how much mod podge glue did you end up using? and rope (ft or cm)? Anything I should watch out for? 🙏
Ran across your channel because of love earthy home decor and I must say I was searching EVERYWHERE for that large pendant shade but had no clue it was a DIY!!! All I can say is that is my favorite DIY pendant I have ever seen in my life!! You made it look super easy to make I would love to try it!! Your style is beautiful Katia! Thanks for sharing

Best of luck for future
Really nice What a cool idea. I think there's only one extra thing I would have done for myself and that would have been to take a burlap strip and cover the edges giving it a bit of a band around the bottom.. But what an awesome idea...
Thank you so much it s fantastic and i am going to make it! 🙏 But first i would like to ask you if i can use my expensive big pillates ball or should I buy a cheap one? Is it going to survive after this with just a wash? Think you in advance 🙏🌷
Hello, Thank you so much for this video. I plan to make this lampshade. I was looking for a diy sooo long. Thank you ☺️ Can you tell me how much cornstarch and glue I need..or what the mixing ratio is?
I stumbled upon your video and this is exactly what I was looking for! I'm so going to do this for my dining room chandelier! My home decor is full of boho and pampas, I just love the organic earthy vibe 🩷 I cannot wait to make this, something I can be proud of and one of a kind! Thanks girl! Your amazing xx
Wow, I think I'm going to do this, I learn so much from you. I like the way you just work so hard and come up with so many great ideas. I also wanted to know when are you going to exhibit your clothing line? I remember that you had some kind of fashion show and it was all your creations. Would love to see what you've come up with this year. Are you still creating clothing? Thank you for sharing Shalom. Love the lamp
Hi Katia ☺ I was wondering if by chance I can reuse my jute that has dried ? I tried the lamp but I'm not quite happy about the result. So I was wondering if it was possible or I should just use new jute. 😅Thank-you ❤
I definitely have to make my own, smaller version. Luckily I live on the Mississippi coast, so beach balls of all sizes are in abundance🎃. Thank you Katia❣
I would have never guessed that you made this! I just assumed you got it somewhere where you've traveled to! I have been in love with it ever since I saw it!
Second video of yours I've watched, and I immediately noticed your light in the first one. I can usually clock a DIY and I figured this was a high end piece. Fantastic job!
Could you suspend the ball from the ceiling to that you didn’t need to flip it? I am guessing if it was workable someone already tried it and found it lacking. I would love to make one of these. Thanks for the video.
I love boho deco here in Mauritius we don't use this type of deco too much its rare but for my new house lm inspired with all these freedom spirit like natural plant give me peace in my house...I do deco with rod from coconut I would like to know what type of glue stick more because I use fevicol glue I don't like the result
Ok. I know you probably get this question a lot but I'm new here, where did or do you get your jewellery? Love every piece you have on. Please Advise. Thx.

@@leighannteegarden6076 you're welcome. I hope you try to make one. They are easy. A bit messy but well worth it.
Please explain about the plastic container on top again and how you created the neater opening. I can't picture it. Thanks.

I never knew that dreadlocks can look beautiful and well kept😍
OMG ingenius pendant lamp shape ....love it
Love it!!! Where did you get those black and white throw pillows?
A lot of work but wow what a payoff. I would have sprayed there inside when the ball was removed for extra stability. Love this
Love this! Looks beautiful, can't wait to make it! Can you please specify the quantities we put into the paste of each component?
It,s really nice!!! One question, what quantities did you use for the mixture??
That was super cool. I want to do that but on a much smaller scale. Timeless boho diy!!

Wow. You nailed it. You are one of my favourite Diy girls. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
It’s just wonderful - so big and organic! One question - why the clear tape before deflating balloon? Thanks love this project❣️

That was such a labor intense project, but you did a stellar job!
Question: would the cornstarch rope molded and would it while its shape during humid days?
Could you suspend the ball from the ceiling to that you didn’t need to flip it? I am guessing if it was workable someone already tried it and found it lacking. I would love to make one of these. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the tutorial and admitting it was not the easiest thing to make. I look forward to your videos, I love your style!
It's beautiful! I am going to try that in the future but make two smaller pendants. It looks so expensive!
