Americans have lost so much in traveling through the countryside in these wonderful interurbans, to take away such a great form of transportation from the average passenger was a crime. these rail systems should have been maintained and continue to exist today.
I think it was the American automobile and to a lesser extent the intercity bus (Greyhound, Trailways, etc.,) that was largely responsible "to take away such a great form of transportation from the average passenger."
Illinois Terminal PCC streetcar 451 is at the Connecticut Trolley Museum and 450 at our Ohio Railway Museum in Worthington, Ohio. They are the only two PCC survivors of the Illinois Terminal and both served on the Cleveland Rapid Transit Authority into the 1970s. Also I subscribed to your channel.
The music is AWESOME! Can you say "Background music for The wonderful world of color?" Also Reminds me back in the 1950's and 1960's. Shopping with Grandma at Sangers Bros., Titches, Stacey's. I remember the Cuspedors, on the elevators and the Shine Stands. Thanks for the memories with these videos. 👍🫡🤠
Wonderful film of the I.T. in the 1950s along with maps and titles to show where the shots were taken. I especially like the views on and around the McKinley bridge and all the street running in towns like Bloomington and Buffalo, IL. Also, good choices of music to accompany the film. Thanks for sharing!
Illinois Railway Museum at Union has a fine selection of Illinois Terminal passenger equipment including the sleeper Peoria and freight motors. Shame the streamliners couldn't be saved. I understand they were heavily vandalized in the 1960s and subsequently scrapped.

Great editing to put together a coherent tour of the IT. Too bad that camera stablizers were abouut 50 or 60 years away...
