  • Hi everyone!
This video is the ninth in the series of Stephen Moore reading the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy series of books, by Douglas Adams. Specifically this is side 1 of the tapes of Life, The Universe and Everything!
Stephen Moore played Marvin the Paranoid Android in the original radio series and the subsequent TV series, as well as many other characters e.g. Gag Halfrunt. This, coupled with his all-round excellent reading voice, make these a joy to listen to.
As a child I heard the radio series, consumed all the books, and eventually discovered these audio books on cassette tapes in my school library and devoured them all. But of course had to return them.
I recently began to wonder if they were still available. It transpired that they had never been re-released on more up-to-date media and were, I discovered, quite hard to get hold of.
This was the reason then to make these videos - to preserve these charmingly told versions of an unparalleled series of books. My channel is not monetised and I am making no money from this and I would humbly request if anyone does have claim to the copyright, please make a claim on UA-cam for monetisation, but please do not block them. In this way future generations can continue to enjoy them.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this.
    Dr Alex

I haven't heard these tapes since I was in my 20s. This is a treat. I used to listen to all the cassette tapes. It's been years. Thank You Doctor Alex for posting all of these Douglas Adam classics.

Thank you for posting these. If not for these I would have no idea that they existed. This was before my time but I wanted to hear the whole series after reading a copy of the first book. Thats when i discovered these.

Thank you so much for keeping these recordings alive. I remember my sister having them and I played them constantly. I also remember Winnie the pooh books narrated by Lionel Jeffries and a Dracula one with a red case. Absolutely superb with all the voices. So nice to hear them again. Ty

Personal note: 44:20 universe is a result of its own imagination, given street theater grant and went away
