Very interesting and a learning experience regarding Korean history. Eagerly awaiting Pachinko, Season 2. Discovered Lee Minho and his passionate performance, leading me to become an avid fan of the Korean genre and all his works 👏👏👏

LMH is a versatile artist. He is an amazing actor. As I mentioned before, LMH gets into the character Packinko and nailed, for fan base. That's he's my favorite actor. Please send Pachinko to Netflix .
I haven’t read the book and I can’t wait for the second series! I feel sorry for Koh Hansu, he was hoping to go to America and become a teacher but the earthquake ruined those plans and he had to become someone who exploited others in order to survive. I think he genuinely had feelings for Sunja but didn’t stop to think about the repercussions of their relationship and I think he’s basically good underneath his rough outer shell.
This was THE absolute best chronicle drama I have ever seen! My sympathies and understanding deepened for the Korean people. Well acted, truly an inspiring story that captivated me in my entirety! Loved loved it!!

Yuh Jung was right. Imagine being an academy award holder & possibly forever being compared to the person who was (in the perspective of the general public in case the other person wins the role) better than you when auditioning. Knowing knetz, that could lead to masses discrediting her abilities & her oscar win.
No offense to Yuh Jung but auditioning is the right way to get the right cast. The casting director is looking for a face, mannerism, voice & acting talent. The actor must fit the vision of the director.
@@myrnariley7755 And you are totally right, but that still doesn’t take into account the overly critical, almost cruel part of korean society. She did the right thing by throwing the script away. They still wanted her. Good for them.

I wanted the series to be longer because I had so many questions about the main characters, like what happened to them, especially Noa, who Hansu married, how Sunja became more focused on church, etc. I enjoyed the series but felt it was rushed to end too quickly. They didn't give the "older" Sunja the kind of respect the Koreans are known for in casting. Her role should have been automatic.
I totally agree with you I was left with so many unanswered questions. Hansu how much of an influence did he play in his sons life. Hints that life was no ideal for Noah. The collaboration with the organised crime unit. In the car the chap says he respected his Grandfather, was that Hansu? Did Sunja's husband die in prison for his ideology? I did think Lee Minho played a blinder and actually if he had more screen time I would have loved him on the screen more. Second series YES! Music straight back to late 1980's, greed was Wall Street and Tokoyo. The Aids story was sheer brilliance. I was transported back to the UK in 1989 as a mum of one and a husband full of expectation and a work ethic that has sadly been the death nail in our marriage. Individualism there is no thing as Community. Boom and Bust!
It's a well thought out drama. I was very impressed with the depth of the writing. The movie does not use graphic violence or nude scenes to make it interesting. It stands on its own merit.
I loved the storyline. Lee's acting abilities showed strong, showed more why he is so well liked. And I especially loved the main female role. It was sad but beautiful story made me feel many emotions.
Everyone did a wonderful job! ♥️ it has touched my heart in every episode! The life of pachinko is truth and honest this is something that happened and the people who truly lived this I honor and respect they went through things half would’ve gave up on . Thank you for sharing this with us and thank you for all the great actors who played the roles it’s beautiful and touched my heart in many ways ♥️✨💫
Fantastic to watch. Gave me insight to a time and to countries I knew little about. It totally enveloped me with feelings, languages and understandings of events of which I was not aware while growing up in America. As an adult I have always tried to learn about people in other countries and how they lived through the hardship of diversity.
LMH is great and award winning performance in this drama.....His Cary Grant style is captivating....says it all in his expressions and eyes and moves....He has it all....I would like to see him play James Bond....hugs
I could see that it must have been dific for leminho and others. I could see how hard it was. I think they all did a fantastic job. With having to be dispicable and horrible person in this Drama says to me that it would be very difficult but Lee Minho must have worked very hard along with all the others. This Drama was complicated but I enjoyed it so much and hope to see season 2 ❤️💜💜💜💙🌸🌸🌸✌️✌️😬🥺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Can't believe the director (?) didn't know who Lee Min Ho was? And hadn't bothered researching the leading actors she was auditioning? American arrogance! He played a gangster in the gritty action/noir film Gangnam Blues so was obviously perfect for the role of of a Japanese mafia yakuza.
The first time I watched Lee Min Ho in Boys Over Flowers (this July 2022 only), I was really hooked/captivated the way he portrayed the role of Go Joon Pyo, he was so good particularly the "facial expressions", he was so natural and realistic, not overacting. Then after watching that series, I was curious to watch him again in other series like City Hunter, oh I loved it, with action-thrilling scenes. After City Hunter, I became curious about Pachinko, I truly love this series (its an epic saga, with different generations- 1915, 1930. 1975, 1989, 2021). Pachinko is about life struggles/harsh realities of life. However, my only comment is- it's just the series was very short and left me with some hanging questions/ scenes like - what happened to Hansu and his son, (there was no continuity or captions what happened then). Lee Min Ho, is really a very versatile actor, look so real in the scenes he portrays. He deserved an award for portraying the role of Hansu, he nailed it! I really need to watch other series where Lee Min Ho has been casted- like Heirs, Personal Taste, The King-Eternal Monarch!
watch Gangnam 1970, legend of the blue sea, faith, the great doctor, I almost watch all of his movie/series and I may say he is the one, no word can express how great he is...❣

I'm hoping for a sequel soon. I hear the book is not as good as the series through some opinions. But this was truly a masterpiece of that era. The actor who said the differences in the years in scenes would confuse the audience, and she was right, because I was not sure who was who while watching the story unfold in later years. And, Lee Min Ho was challenged by the role but he did such a fantastic job of portraying a man who could be cruel and cold, yet he came from such humble beginnings and suffered a lot in his younger years. Such a cool character, so very well played, and Minha Kim was excellent as well!
Wouldn’t agree that the book is not as good at all, the book is incredible and this drama is based on the book, this first part of the drama series follows the book with small changes. It has captured the characters really well as I had imagined them from reading the book. I loved Issak in the book with Sunja and his depiction in the series was incredible, he was warm, loving, loyal, devoted to his wife and sons , and to top it off although sickly most of his life he was a fine looking man!!!. Hansu is portrayed superbly by Lee Min Ho , an actor who I normally adore in dramas but in this im afraid I just don’t like him which means he is portraying his character well, he breaks Sunja’s heart , he uses her for sex and when she’s pregnant he wants to keep her as a mistress, he is married in Japan ( something she never knew) with 3 daughters!!!, he is selfish, has multiple affairs and is a scheming manipulator. He does care for Sunja of that there is no doubt but not like the love that Issak had for her ( this is my opinion). If you get a chance do read the book as I highly recommend it.x
the story itself is great and i recommend reading it to form your opinion since you loved the show so much. but i gotta say that there were some parts in the book (especially the second half of it) that i don't think were executed well and for that reason i understand the criticism. For young Sunja, the casting was on point though, she looks exactly as i imagined - i love the rest of the cast as well, but her specifically really stunned me because to me it felt like she jumped off the page. i haven't finished the show yet but so far i enjoy it more than the book lmao
Each part, scene, and moment of PACHINKO ❤️ was SO carefully thoughtfully strategically utilized to envelope the viewers with the actors SUPERB WORK comes ALIVE and ACROSS the dimensions. PACHINKO 2 ❤️ needs to continue this EPIC experience with rapture. DEPTH in character, this story should press forward in and with vigor. We want MORE ❤️❤️❤️. So much needs to be addressed (NOA, SUNJA and HANSU) it's become part of our lives now...we HAVE to know what transpires during the years

I’ve been a fan of Korean drama since 2002 (Winter Sonata, Autumn in my Heart), then here in Canada (I tried to watch again “Winter Sonata” -several times like 20x, sometime in 2020-2021 during the pandemic period). I started watching Lee Min Ho only this July, 2022, (summer break), I could say that he is really a very good actor, he could portray different roles, very versatile (that’s why I’ve been hooked to all his teleseries -BOF, City Hunter, Personal Taste, The King Monarch and maybe all his upcoming series, I will not let it pass). Seeing the trailer of Pachinko, I love it right away, I’ll be watching that SOON!
@@user-fn1vh8qo7d I’ll try, but I look forward to seeing or watch more of other series where Lee Min Ho is the main leading star cast. (I started seein Lee Min Ho series this year only, Bae Yong Joon just retired). I’m done watching the series of Extra Ordinary Attorney Woo!

The audition stuff here is just off the hook. Audition is for them to pick the most suitable cast for each character, not to say that anyone did good or bad, got experience or lack off. Of course your experience will help you play better on the role but it doesn’t mean that your experience is your title.

The flashback with Solomon at the beginning kind of surprise me. It was too much of a “leap” or change, sort of lost the continuity & I thought the flashback should have focus more on Sonja…
It just hurt my heart to the core😭I really had to rein in my emotions. It reminded me of my heritage being Native American and ancestors losing their homeland also😭. I never knew the horrific history of Korea 💔 this makes me love them even more. ❤️🙏🏽🇺🇸
Just about every country has a minority people that barely make the footnote of history as they have been systematically eliminated, thru genocide, assimilation or kicked out and left to die.
How he could be a superstar if he will not follow what the movie director said, it make LMH more versatile on him being a celebrity, that’s fantastic, you’re great LMH, in fact that movie is good but it was hanging there. As if it was not done, I wish there is still continuation , so many question on my mind like, what happen with Noa, ? What happen the wife of Hansu that she knows Hansu had Sonya, in my language that movie is “ Bitin”
I think that Pachinko was the best show that I saw last year. Afterwards I read the book which is equally excellent. The acting was superb! I was so glad to see Lee Min-Ho playing a “real grown up” character. My humble opinion is that he has what it takes to play more of such roles! He has the charisma and the presence and the skills! Well done sir, and well done by all! Best wishes for Pachinko 2
Yes. She felt she's been in the acting profession for so long that she should not have to do an audition. That's just her ego. Every actor must fit the character that the director envisions.
In another video she said that auditioning at her age would do her more harm than good in her career. If she auditioned and got rejected, the industry in her country would label her as lacking and that would make it impossible for her to get another role. It's not really about ego, we have to take in consideration how the culture works and how things are done in Korea, and they definitely do not work as in the western world.
yeah I mean if you work for over 20 years or so, I doubt audition is needed, and if she get rejected that is bad rumor. They were say they had alot well known people in the video so it not like they looking for people they don't know. That lady say she didn't know le minh ho I think was BS lol

A quick question do they think Pachinko would have been a hit or success without Lee Min Ho? I found myself very upset watching this series with episodes without Lee Min Ho, I was frustrated to be honest. I am an avid Lee Min Ho fun and that why I supported and watched the show. Otherwise on any normal day it wasn’t my cup of tea. But anything to show Lee Min Ho support. No offense! Lee Min Ho was the reason I bought an IPhone, subscribed to appleTV. After the show I don’t see why I should keep paying my appleTV. Don’t underestimate the power of Lee Min Ho. I hope in season 2 I will see more of Lee Min Ho.
Loving Pachinko..it is so well written and filmed and the actors/actresses are great! Hoping for a season 2. Unlike kdramas that have more episodes to be able to develop characters in one go, Pachinko gives room for a second season
I watched Pachinko on Apple TV. I appreciated very much the characters of Sunja, Isak and Solomon. I found the flash backs were well done, easy to follow. On the contrary, I didn't like the character of Hansu. At first, I wanted to watch Pachinko because of Lee Min Ho. I didn't like the character he played : the role was minor, Hansu was a villain and I didn't like Lee Min Ho's acting. I find him great when he is smiling, laughing, but there I could not see the emotions on his face. I already had seen him in the character of a villain in Gangnam 1970 and City Hunter and there I liked his acting. So it was a desillusion for me.
Did Hansu actually have any feelings by the time he met Sunja? Was he allowed to show any feeling other than cruelty? I think the feelings were in his eyes. And his acting was spot on!
Lee MinHo acted the way people during that era behaved and responded during any situation in order to survive. He was true to his character. As a villain, he has to show his ruthlessness by not showing compassion to people around him. His eyes was so expressive to show all these. His performance was praised by American and international film critics and that says a lot how good an actor he was :)
@@vickol9403 It was mentioned multiple times in the book that Hansu loved Sunja the way an old man loved a young woman who made him feel young & full of vigor again. Hansu did not believe in love but of all the women he did love, he loved Sunja the most.

I think the role in Pachinko puts Lee Min-ho in a completely different league of actors. He’s no longer the young man/school boy girls swoon for, but the grown man women of a certain age want to fall in love with. I hope he continues to act in mature roles and gets cast in Hollywood films like the actor Lee Byun-hun.

LMH is a versatile artist. He is an amazing actor. As I mentioned before, LMH gets into the character Packinko and nailed, for fan base. That's he's my favorite actor. Please send Pachinko to Netflix .
I enjoyed watching Pachinko and look forward to the second season! I was impressed by all the actors... such a great cast.
The book is great you would enjoy it.
This was THE absolute best chronicle drama I have ever seen! My sympathies and understanding deepened for the Korean people. Well acted, truly an inspiring story that captivated me in my entirety! Loved loved it!!
Hoping for session 2... love this drama, the actors and actresses, the producer, all of it... what an emotional show! Thanks you.

Lee Min-Ho is the best. To be honest I watch Pachinko just because LMH was in the cast otherwise I wouldn’t. I really enjoyed watching it tho.
If you are good, you are good with or without an audition. The objective is to find the right person for the role.
Glad to hear more seasons coming up.
I KNOW RIGHT!! LIKE I REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING 😭
Read about it here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachinko_(novel)
I think the show only made sense if you read the book.
This drama was the best!!! Waiting for the sequel🤞

Fantastic to watch. Gave me insight to a time and to countries I knew little about. It totally enveloped me with feelings, languages and understandings of events of which I was not aware while growing up in America. As an adult I have always tried to learn about people in other countries and how they lived through the hardship of diversity.
Another great Korean drama that deserves Oscars, Golden Globes, etc. Loved it! Such a great Drama!

I’m pretty sure they already renewed the show for a second season.

Cannot wait to see this movie, USA loves lee min ho

Beautiful story telling on so many levels!! I didn’t think I would cry but it was a very touching story and I learned a lot about🙏🏽
I'm hoping for a sequel soon.
I was obsessed from the very beginning and am so excited with season 2

If you haven't, you HAVE to watch Crash Landing on You!! It is fabulous 👌
@@optimusprime732able no like seriously, right now, go watch the first episode of Crash Landing on You! Lol. You'll be hooked! You'll laugh and cry and care about the characters so much! We don't get shows this good in Canada.
The audition stuff here is just off the hook. Audition is for them to pick the most suitable cast for each character, not to say that anyone did good or bad, got experience or lack off. Of course your experience will help you play better on the role but it doesn’t mean that your experience is your title.
Big L comments.

The flashback with Solomon at the beginning kind of surprise me. It was too much of a “leap” or change, sort of lost the continuity & I thought the flashback should have focus more on Sonja…
Can't wait for season 2 👍❤️
It just hurt my heart to the core😭I really had to rein in my emotions. It reminded me of my heritage being Native American and ancestors losing their homeland also😭. I never knew the horrific history of Korea 💔 this makes me love them even more. ❤️🙏🏽🇺🇸

Youn Yuh Jung is so amazing. I felt embarrassed and sad they had her audition.
Sorry I got a little confused did the older actress throw her script out meaning she didn’t want to audition?
Sounds like entitlement mentality
yeah I mean if you work for over 20 years or so, I doubt audition is needed, and if she get rejected that is bad rumor. They were say they had alot well known people in the video so it not like they looking for people they don't know. That lady say she didn't know le minh ho I think was BS lol
@@myrnariley7755 actually she’s right. When you’ve won an Oscar and have such a long career, you be offer only because you’ve proven yourself enough times that you can play a role.

No offense! Lee Min Ho was the reason I bought an IPhone, subscribed to appleTV. great video, thanks 😊
I only watch pachinko because of lee min ho. But then h has only a minor role, even if he is a bad guy in this drama i like it. More...
