    Whenever a show starts to say that something is "found on every continent" I always expect to hear "exept Antarctica".
    However, turns out insects can even live there too; antarctic midges, drain flies and cuteorm moths have all been found there, clinging to live in that frozen hellscape.
    Really goes to show just how resilient they are.

      are you sure the cutworm moths arent from islands off Antarctica? Only moth species recorded in Antarctica has been a human commensal grain pest (Indianmeal Moth) that got in presumably through food and can't survive at all, but the flightless antarctic midges are indeed amazing

      @@dorothywasrighttho5129 I disagree. No bugs in lava. How salty does water have to be? I know the Dead Sea has critters, but are they "bugs"? What about the rugged mountains of Antarctica? How about the bottom of deep ocean or the Marianas trench? The headline promised a discussion of where there aren't bugs, but the video gave examples of extreme environments where there *are* bugs?

    Interesting! One small correction: the lake in California, Mono Lake. Both of the “o”s are pronounced the same. Try saying “no,no” but with the first letter an “m”. “Mono”

    Insects are my favorite animals and this Ted-Ed highlights some of the reasons why. They just have so many cool adaptations that allow them to look at nature and say "Nah, I'd win."

    Since the video didnt technically answer its own question, I will.
    To my knoweledge, there are no insects at the South Pole. (Feel free to correct me if Im wrong, Im just going off what I know)
    Edit: Apparently, there are some moss bugs there. Never mind
