Johnny Unitas was my favorite quarterback when I was a kid. These old games are great, notice how nobody shows off when they make a touchdown, they just throw the ball to the ref. Much greater sportsmanship and humility in those days.
I have few fonder memories from my youth then of family time listening to Chuck Thompson broadcasting a Colt or O’s game. God Bless you Chuck and “Ain’t the beer cold”.
Chuck Thompson and Bailey Goss! Ain't the beer cold! And Joe "The Jet" Perry. I'd forgotten that he played here for a couple of seasons. Joe was past his prime by then, but in his day he was part of that Million Dollar backfield along with Hugh McElhenny and John Henry Johnson in San Francisco. This was also the first year of the 14-game season. Good stuff.
I wish I had the chance to meet Bailey Goss. Heard a lot of good stuff about him. I did have the chance to meet Chuck Thompson. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Him and Vince Bagli.
