I remember the Steelers of the 60s, so weak a team they used to give tickets away. 1969 at the conclusion of a 1-13 season coach Chuck Knoll simply said your just not good football players I'm going to have to get rid of most of you. I'm not optimistic about this year's 2024 season, anyone else feel free to comment.

@39:34-36, tough luck for the Washington DB#32 Jim Wulff being taken down (if not taken out) by his own teammate, DT#79 Bob Toneff. From 1952-'58 (1953 not withstanding) Toneff played for San Francisco but the 49ers never played him at DT anywhere close to as much as they should have. It was rare during those 1950s seasons in San Francisco that Bob Toneff (used to wear #74) would line up at DT on the exact same plays that 49er legendary DT#73 Nomellini was also lined up at DT. Whenever Nomellini was out there on defense lined up at DT, Bob Toneff was either erroneously lined up at DE or was on the sidelines. Then, Tonef was in Washington by 1959 (switched jersey# to 79) and Washington got it right, playing him only at Defensive Tackle from 1959-'64, and not at Defensive End. Finally being correctly used as a DT fixture, Tonef went to three straight Pro Bowls from 1959-61, which can be looked upon as evidence that indeed #79 Bob Toneff always should have been at DT and nowhere else. 1950s 49ers not doing that is an untold reason why 1950s 49ers were often such a close-but-no-cigar team. Small note, @7:53-56 is that 49er legendary DT#73 Nomellini seen caving in the pass-pocket, but he was a little too slow to get his hands up to possibly deflect the pass or even simply obstruct the opposing QB's vision a little more, and the result was a long Chicago TD pass.

@19:16-22, Pittsburgh DB#46 Fred The Hammer Williamson didn't make the tackle but clearly did what he had to do to prevent the TD. @19:35, The Hammer strikes, fumble happens, and then so did the touchback.

The Chargers were not the World Champions of professional football. They were the American Football League champions of 1963. The Chargers’ quarterback, Tobin Rote, is the answer to a trivia question. Who is the only quarterback to lead a team to both an NFL and an AFL championship? The answer is Rote who in addition to the Chargers in 1963, he also led the Detroit Lions to a victory in the 1957 championship game.

Love some of the old time names and players! Wondering why the Chicago Cardinals weren't better with Night Train Lane and Ollie Matson. And who knew Tom Landry was a punter? Jim Finks shows some real nice form here as the Steelers QB. Additionally, when I see these parka coats the players wore over their uniforms when they were on the sideline to keep warm- I notice the Steelers wore the exact same style shown here in the 1970s when they were winning Super Bowls. Also notice the Cardinals used the same style in the 1970s when they were winning division titles in St. Louis. Tough season for the Steelers to start 4-1- hand the Browns their most lopsided defeat in history- and then lose six of their last seven. Will say the Browns never would have beaten the Steelers 42-7 in the season finale if it weren't for Chuck Noll. And I'll also say I'm surprised this film is sponsored by Miller High Life and not Iron City, Duquesne, or Ft. Pitt Beer.

One of the problems with football on black and white TV was.... ...one team would wear red shirts and the other would wear blue shirts, but on BnW TV they looked the same. So they made one of the teams wear white shirts, so the fans at home could tell the difference.

The Gold dust twins! Grabowski and Anderson! Lombardi drafted Grabowski to replace Taylor. Tough call THAT. But he was good for awhile. Saw the openings, pounded hard... then...injuries. Donny very fluid. Was healthier, luckier. The great Lombard's toughest championship. Age was getting to the nucleus... Had Lombardi lived he would have dominated the 70's in Wash...not to be. A shame. I wasn't born but studied the heck out of the great Lombardi. Packers home field should be called: The Field of Lombardi...period. No offense Curly.
