  • The long wait is over, we now have a 2220 for my Dad's buisness. It was an awesome trip up to the Timberking facility and great to meet with everyone. Very impressed with the power of this new sawmill.
    I'm keeping my diesel timberking 2000 and he's keeping this beast of a sawmill.
    Very impressive machine, plenty of power!

    Due to the roller toe boards it's easy to cut longer than the bed. We had to cut some beams due to a change by architect which were longer. Just cut down to end, back up blade, zip off tag with skil saw, raise blade and raise toe boards. Slide down then reset and cut. I was surprised how easy it was. Now cutting a tree would take a bit more work but it's still doable
    Yes the carbide toothed blade is worth it. It will blow through a nail or bolt and keep cutting while still being sharp. You won't measure in cut board feet but in cut thousands of board feet. If available try Lenox

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills  3 роки тому +1

      I was really impressed with how much power there is. My only complaints are how slow the boot up speed on the control panel is and the tow boards. If you have a log less than 8' you can't use each without moving the forward board around to the back side of the bunk.

    • @beth-lang
      @beth-lang 3 роки тому

      @@TCSawmills That's true. We have very few logs under 12 ft so I haven't run into the toe board issue. And I usually just boot up when I'm starting and leave the thing running so the boot up isn't too big of a deal.
      We either started with a dying battery or something is draining ours. I need to replace it and see if the problem goes away. Currently I have to jump it once or twice a week.

    I was surprised at how heavy you slabbed the log, Are you going heavy to create firewood? Also, I expected to see some form of blade groove cutter to extend blade life. What was the total cost of the mill as delivered?

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills  3 роки тому

      Yes we are turning some of the off cuts into firewood, but we are also using some to make rustic benches for a state park down the road.
      I am not a big fan of debarkers, we usually keep the logs pretty clean and we sharpen and set our own blades. For me the debarker gets in the way of handling the big logs. The price of the sawmill is on the Timberking page. A new one is $63k and a long wait.

    Thomas I am curious. What is the widest width of your blades that you can run and is that the width you run? It has been a while since I was looking but, I think they was running 1 1/4" width blade. My question is can you get blades that are wider. It just seems to me that they would last longer especially if you were doing your own sharpening.

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills  3 роки тому +1

      You can run 1.5" blades on this mill with only minor changes. The added cost of the blade isn't really worth it to me. My buddy who runs a Timberking 2520 runs 1.5" on his mill and there's not a ton of difference. The 1.25" blades work well for me and my dad on each of our mills.

    Have you figured out how many board feet you can saw per hour and in a typical day? Also, do they have an option for 1 1/2” wide blades instead of 1 1/4”?

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills  2 роки тому

      Yes, you can run 1.5" blades on the mill. We decided to stick with the 1.25" because they are more commonly available and we don't have to adjust our sharpener and setter between the different blades we run on our mills. I run my Diesel 2000 in Mississippi and my dad runs the 2220 in Tennessee. I don't cut for massive production, but the most I've cut in a day by myself was around 2000 board ft my dad maybe a bit more. Again we cut kinda as a hobby so we don't take on huge orders nor do we run the mills 8 hrs a day.

    • @WILSON.1
      @WILSON.1 2 роки тому

      @@TCSawmills Awesome, thanks, man! I have a TK 1600, and I’m trying to figure out how much more I can cut with a 2220 or 2520. I’ve actually cut 2000 bd ft in a day with my mill, in the summertime when it’s light out until 9pm. That’s the most I’ve ever cut. Usually, a good long day is 1500 bd ft.

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills  2 роки тому

      You're running your mill efficiently then. My buddy with a 1600 has cut 1800 in a day by himself. He's always wanting to come use my diesel 2000 mill since it's a lot faster. He came over for 3 hours and he and I cut up 58 true 2"x6"x20'. We should have cut more but the logs were small, we were only getting 3 to 5 clean 2x6 out of each log. So in 3 hrs we cut just over 1100 board ft but there was a lot of log handling it was 13 or 14 trees.

    • @WILSON.1
      @WILSON.1 2 роки тому

      @@TCSawmills Nice, that is much faster. Two of the features I think I would really like to have is board drag back and hydraulic toe-boards. Actually, to add a third, I think the hydraulic log stops are stronger and stay square better than my swing up style. I’m wondering if the 1 1/2” blades require different band wheels. Do you know if I could put them on my 1600 if I upgraded the rollers? I’ve heard they help with flatness (I.e. avoiding wavy cuts).

  • @johnnybarbar7435

    Thomas, what was the reason to not get the debarker option? Does the mill have auto blade fluid on/off to save on fluid?

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills  3 роки тому +1

      For me a debarker gets in the way of handling big logs. I don't typically cut really dirty logs since we keep them off the ground. Also we set and sharpened our own blades so not too worried about blade life. It's kinda a personal preference. I know people who love them and people who don't. I have friends who have bought them, then taken them off for the reasons I stated. I don't have an auto water on yet but have the parts to do it. Again all I run is water that we collect off our roof so not worried about it. The manual valve has worked for me for years, I keep saying I'm going to swap it but here I am, 😆.

    • @oliverm5sc
      @oliverm5sc 3 роки тому +2

      @@TCSawmills I bought my mill with a debarker, sharpener and setter. I took the debarker off after a little while as it was more trouble and time to use than sharpening a extra band band once in a while. Most times if you have dirt on a log you can take it off in the slab not cutting into dirt at all. A sharpener and setter are a must have if you do a lot of sawing, close to 4 million bf now.
