As an INTJ I really appreciate these interviews with Se doms that enjoy and learn the system of type! Being able to have that common language and framework makes everything so much easier to discuss. As much as Se and Ni doms have massive differences it's almost more fascinating to observe the areas where we have similarities!

31:10 yeah, as an esfp with my kids, my calm during stress is super useful and calming for my family. My ENFP wife panics, my parents/mother-in-law freeze, etc. they try to plan too much, whereas I just say “WE ARE DOING THIS.”

I am Se-Te ESFP 8w7 or 7w8 and also dealt with early life addictions and hedonistic pleasures. Also agree that being in chaos (emergency) is the most calming feeling. When unhealthy, though, Se doms create their own chaos to find that "flow state" at the expense of other people's peace.

@@justinbroady to continue answering (sorry I’m jumping around), I first tested INFJ and INTJ on assessed MBTI’s. The OPS “classic,” upside down typing. It didn’t take long once I started actually studying, to know something was off. I thought I was an STP before deep-diving into OPS, though I had been typed ESFP at Personality Hacker. I just related too much to the “ST” aspects of SeTe! But, it’s definitely Te, not Ti for me. As far as that goes, it’s M Se, Te and Fe for me! The dude on the right is basically me with a kid. Ultra weird to see yourself in another person.. Like your own legit fuckin doppelganger. Kind of sucks being an ESTP - A 8w7 and keeping friends around. I can make friends anywhere; It just begs the question of can I keep them around. My intensity is probably why I can only keep like 5 to 10 loyal friends at any given time. Especially if at any point you've gotten into a real argument with them.. basically you'll say ANYTHING to win it. I for example have a bad habit of getting too amped up and dominating the conversation when I'm not necessarily meaning to. At the end of it though you feel guilty about it and feel the overwhelming urge to apologize and squash the "beef" so to speak.
Edit: It's been 3 years and I now have 2 daughters.. one funny enough turns 3 this year. So now I feel what this man is saying even more lol. This personality stuff is actually accurate, and it is hard for me to admit being pinned down like that to a "type".. Having grown up very skeptical of these type things, probably due to stuff like horoscopes and zodiac signs, but this is surprisingly refreshing.

It's so fun to hear John tell the stories about the kids in Tai Kwan Do classes. I totally agree with these guys that it's so important to get in there and experience things. Experience is a great teacher. Many of us can learn other ways as well, but experience is the most direct route. LOL And especially in a sport, c'mon, you are not going to learn something physical unless you get physical. And it builds confidence and character. Although so does intellectual understanding but that's more in non-physical scenarios. Again, there is a place for both.

I’ve always thought of my Se as easily discouraged, mostly by being aware of consequences, and later in life Fe things sort of like Joyce mentioned. I think I have a lifestyle that provides a lot of moments where my Se can shine, but these guys seem like they make whatever lifestyle they have as Se and intense as possible. I feel like I need Taylor to just yell at me all the time, or I already have an internal Taylor and Joyce both whispering in different ears. Your interactions were amusing, and John was asking a lot of great questions! I always get a lot out of the videos I see with any of the three of you.

John, what you are describing at 48:15 is what many of us introverts feel on a routine basis. It's so wild to hear you describe it as a rare thing for you to need to pull into yourself because it's just so normal for us introverts. We get stimulus overload and if we don't manage and control the shutdown ourselves, then our body will end up doing it for us and it will be worse in those situations because we have let it go too long and now we're CRANKY and literally NEED to be alone. I've got COVID right now and have been quarantined and letting this virus run it's course here by myself for the last 8 days (I have sweet friends and family checking on me) and aside from being sick, I am SO HAPPY.
Don't get me wrong. I had a panic attack the first two days right before I got my COVID results and REALLY had an attack when I got the positive results because I was afraid what if I had one of those bad cases and died or something. But as the week wore on I realized I have a mild case, thank GOD, and my anxiety has been completely under control. I mean, I don't think I have been this happy in years. Part of that is realizing I'm not going to die of COVID, so that's relief happiness but also, it's because I FINALLY got AWAY from everyone and all the work and social obligations and have had the chance to do MY dominant function for once, for a good chunk of time, and I feel like I'm me again.
I spent almost the entire day mentally creating my business plan (and typing up the outline and notes) for my UA-cam channel and a sister company I started several years ago and how I want merge them together. I finally was able to construct the whole framework in my mind (Joyce you'd appreciate what I mean) and it is something I've been working at for a year but never had the chance to just give it my full attention. The only other bummer with COVID, aside from being sick, and it DOES SUCK, is that I have not had ANY energy at all, because I'm so short of breath, to DO a lot of the physical things around the house that I want to do. But I can BE MYSELF and use that Ni. It's so great. It's such a relief to get this time with my Ni. It must be similar to how you guys (John and Taylor) feel when you are in the flow state like at an emergency situation. I am definitely in the flow state when I'm using my Ni. I've been in that flow state all day.

where does the intensity comes from: they are more in the moment and unlike ne doms, that's sensory moment, sensory reality (as opposed to potentiality). affecting reality whether that is people or things just more enjoyable and thrilling and stimulating to them. so the more they affect things, the more energy they get. what are the physical limits of people? how easy to bend this people's will (or how hard)? figuring that out, testing them is both stimulating and interesting to them.
otherwise and in general and neurologically even: you basically get more energy by using your dominant function because your brain rewards you by using your more developed neuron pathways. a mountain climber gets energy from mountain climbing, a philosopher gets energy from philosophizing, a troll gets energy from trolling, an diplomat gets energy from making people like them.

It’s so nice listening to this I wish there was more estp videos and channels. MAH PEOPLE 😂. Literally doing things to switch career paths to paramedics. This mafia mob mentality with people I super relate to as well lol I grew up beating up boys who messed with my little sister , even tho I have three older brothers like 😂 I have legit moved and drove up to someone in my life’s house when I got a 3am call her locked in the bathroom with her husband being “threatening” and her wanting to move out that night but she’s scared. She was also scared when I said I’m coming lol 😂stay in there til I arrive, she was worried if he’ll hurt me. 😂😂 I told her ur husband has been afraid of me since the day I told him we’re not friends now Bec he’s dating you lol😂. And it’s never changed I’m not worried. And I kept him away from her while focusing her packing on the spot. Filling up her car with all her shit and took her TF out of there. Lol.
Def noticed it’s like my brain super focuses and merges with instincts and there’s this calm , when everything is complete chaos 😂and I just go calm and decisive in go mode.
I also don’t relate to defending everybody but it’s def more than just my family /“chosen family” lol who becomes sort of part of my mafia in my mind or something. It can also be particular types of Victimhood/underdog that is personal to me. Child abuse and similar vibe is def a thing I will always react to and defend. Same with domestic abuse /men to their gf or wives type of thing. Certain types of situations will def trigger my defend them Justice trigger , outside of just “my family” circle but they def have to be issues near and dear to me other wise I tend to adopt the , I didn’t see shit type of thing Lolol I think for estp it might be this sort of … I will at all costs not want to be a sort of like “narc”/tattle tale type enforcing officer sort of person … right up until the line that Justice trigger is flipped then I’m all up in it 😂. Bjt def not the general public just Bec it’s wrong or whatever. Was interesting to hear the esfp seems to have a more general public (Fi?) that’s generally wrong type of view for the Justice thing.

It's interesting that they thought that, simply because hers comes from long-term contexts, she does not experience pleasure or that she withholds pleasure from herself. She did not say that she doesn't experience pleasure. She said she does not experience it if it does not come from something that is part of her long-range plan. I assume most of her actions are related to her long-term goals so she experiences quite a bit of pleasure on a daily basis from all of those experiences. We could turn their interpretation around on them, Flow State and John, and say "Wow, it's sad that you guys don't feel pleasure, because you don't experience the thrill from planning out your amazing life and watching as each of your carefully-planned goals manifests into fruition. I don't approve of you denying yourself that pleasure."

😂 where does all the intensity come from. An eternal well. Aka … prob our lack of presence with certain emotional stuff funneled out through “acceptable” emotional drives towards Se spewing. All unconscious of course 😂. It took me to I think 36yo to realize usually when I was “angry” a huge chunk of the time I was actually … some other emotion lol😂 so. That. Perhaps

Im sure Taylor has seen this. This scene in Poetic Justice back in the day. Tupac and Janet Jackson. Id have to watch the move over again but I would guess its probably also fun look at what a young INFJ and ESTP romance would look like. I think they butt heads pretty hard in the movie.
I agree with you Joyce that ESTP are a lot less lilely to get involved unless...

I'm trying to figure out if I am an ENFP or an ESFP so watching these videos to see if there is anything I identify with. As a woman it is hard to identify with this much macho energy. It's funny to watch though because I know so many guys like this.

Both Taylor and John are Enneagram 8w7! So they'll be more intense and 'macho' versions of their type. I have some ESFP vs ENFP videos though. :) Perhaps those will be more helpful for you!! Thanks for watching, @iHay!

@@JoyceMeng22 I am slowly watching my way through all the EFP videos. I just bounce around. Funnily enough John is the ESFP that I can identify with the most, I just feel like I have to run everything through a male to female translator. I'm starting to see similarities in the way we think (or act or function or whatever you call it lol). I'm still trying to identify what Se and Ne means exactly and which I use. These videos are helping so much, I really appreciate you and all who made them happen 😊

Okay gotta step in and do a bit of damage control here. When you guys are talking about "anxiety", it sounds like you are really just talking about worrying or being stressed (I'm not really referring to you Joyce since I suspect you are holding back on relating your more severe symptoms, so more referring to John). That is NOT anxiety. Actual anxiety is more severe. Think of it like when people sort of casually say "I'm depressed" when they've had a bad day. But they aren't actually depressed. It's important to be careful the words you use so that you don't minimize what people are going through who are truly suffering from anxiety or depression. Those are very serious conditions.
I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and I assure you, you are NOT going to go to sleep if you are feeling anxious. You don't sleep when your heart is pounding so hard that it feels like it is literally pounding against your ribs and your mind is flashing INCESSANT images or thoughts that won't stop and just keep coming at you. Your body is releasing all kinds of chemicals that are not able to be processed. I could go on. Panic attacks are a whole level up from that and they are terrifying. It's literally physically exhausting as if you actually suffered an attack and it can leave you totally drained the next day. If you suffer from anxiety your panic, you are very clear about it. There is no wondering about it. That being said, you are so adorable John. Just gotta keep you guys honest.

Taylor, at 1:26:30, you do realize that collecting guns and bullets is not different than a prepper collecting their resources (self-pres), food and water stores, etc. whatever they may be, right? You sound like a self-pres to me. On a related note, I totally agree re the financial markets. The stock market is a bubble. There is no true price discovery. Stock prices are going up on companies who have made no profit in months (zombie corporations). I could go on and on. It's insane. But that's the power of perception. Half of the power of our economic system is people's belief that it is trustworthy. The moment they lose that faith, it's going to come crashing down. I agree you gotta have hard assets and I do. ;-) Oh, and I was called a 5w6 for that btw. :-)
