  • Bone marrow contusions are frequently identified at magnetic resonance imaging after an injury to bones. This finding is commonly encountered in MRI knee.
These lesions are called “occult” because no abnormalities are seen on conventional X ray radiographs, and in direct observation (arthroscopy) they are hidden by the overlying cartilage.
Bone bruise perse doesn’t need treatment, Concomitant ligament or meniscal injuries need to be addressed .
Almost always, we observe gradual resolution of bone bruises over time usually 4- 6 weeks. It is important to recognize that some bone bruises take a relatively long time to dissipate.

Hi this is dr Jeya venkatesh... I wish i made this content in english as well... anyway here are excerpts
Acute traumatic bone marrow edema is like a temporary swelling or inflammation inside your bones due to an injury. It's important to know that this swelling isn't a serious condition on its own (associated conditions like ligament tears need attention).
It's a sign picked up in MRI scan. Contusion/ Bone bruise/ Marrow edema are used interchangeably.
Most of the time, with rest and proper care, this will settle and your bone will heal.
