I like the wistful versions by Williams, Darin and London which I imagine are in keeping with the movie (as opposed to Sinatra's jaunty version) but I prefer my own wistful memories of lost love to having these replaced by what I've heard is a totally depressing movie.

Loved your video....the movie from which the song is derived is one of the most heart-breaking movies ever made. While working on the set, actor Jack Lemmon actually was struggling with a drinking problem in his life. The making of it helped him conquer his drinking habit. Afterward, Alcoholics Anonymous made it a requirement for all members to watch the movie for many years. I'm not sure if they still do. For me, the saddest part is that the movie is an absolute portrayal of my own parent's life and struggle with alcohol during the time period this movie was made (1962). My dad managed to conquer alcohol and leave it; however, my mom was never able to do so. She died much too young. I miss her very much. The song is so hauntingly beautiful, I think of her and my dad every time I hear it. Again, a wonderful video. Thank you.
I was first in, I touch this music. And I didn't think it was the theme song of such a tragic story. After that, I actually watched this movie.There, depicts a life collapse due to the tragic alcoholism you wrote. I haven't , dare Insert into this video from the 'miserable scenes' in this film footage. I always thought Julie was such an underrated singer; her voice was distinctive, & she never tried to be who she wasn't. I LOVED her voice, & with the right arrangers, she was magnificent. This is her at her very best. Wolfsky9

アンデイ－・ウィリアムスの歌声にも、当時中学生の私は魅せられました。深い意味などわかりもせず、ひたすら憧れまして、現在５０株のバラの手入れに追われつつ、ウィスキー大好きな、ある意味「酒とバラの日々」を過ごすことになりました。
私はこの映画は、曲よりも後に知りました。曲は沢山の歌手がカバーしてましたので、特に このジュリーのカバーが大好きでした。それにしても50株のバラは壮観ですね。私の大好きな[百万本のバラ]という曲がありますが、それを眺めながらウィスキー。。。 いいですね～
