- How does a subculture of mystery, anonymity and underground tradition fair against some of the most instantaneous, transparent and uninhibited social tools the world has ever seen?

So I hit up this guy on insta to go for a paint coz seen him up on the lines and around and he said “ Ye bro come to mine and we will kb and go for a paint” and so he sends me his address...turns out this guy has been living in the same street right across the road from me

Graff Lounge What’s your Instagram?
"what do you know about graffiti before the internet...you're only 12" hahah so many other points to make let me know your thoughts below
Graff Lounge Hey man, is there any chance that you could use some of my music in your videos? You can use any song you like. Everything you need is found on my channel. It would mean a lot to me. Much love from NZ.
@DFEKT Official Dope shit bro, you deserve more views
Graff Lounge mate not being bad no one gives a fuck just listen to the shit you said you w graffiti channel not CCN or BBC
Hahaha you got that right about every writer using this platform in some capacity. Here in L.A. even the oldest writers have an Instagram. These are the very same people that talk down to the current generation about how the old days were different, etc, etc. They don't see their own hypocrisy. Personally that in itself is wakk. I've been retired for 10 years now and none of my stuff ends up on Instagram unless I feel like drawing something on paper for the current generation to peep. As bad as I want to pick up Ultra Flat Black Krylons and chrome aerosol along with tester caps again some day, I know deep in my heart it's not the same as when I was coming up from 94-08. I remember FlickR being the first place on the internet infamously used for posting pictures before Facebook was even heard of. It truly isn't the same anymore these days. Kids can literally paint their own back yard over and over and get 1K likes on IG easily. Some of them will never know what it's like to run from the cops or feeling that rush you get after bombing. I may not be involved in Hip Hop culture anymore but the memories will never go away and the people that vouch for me are still around. L.A. graff from the 80's to the mid 2000's were something great and I feel pretty content to know I was part of that world in my life time.
thank you for sharing this :)
Endless 8 Respect from New York
bro flkr, tumblr, and 50MM LA were the places you would always check online, well in the 818 at least. lol
LOVE THIS CHANNEL! Intro was Funny af lmao
good subject! Been thinking alot about the effect the internet has had on graffiti as well. You probably could have talked more on every specific point and it would be cool to see this especially this topic in a longer video since there is a lot to explore. nice video
itresting how all changed. i am one of people who just remember everyone in my streets and who does what, i am a grafitti hunter. i am stalking some of the artists, it's fun. you know where they live and where they go to just by remembering where the tags are.
I love all your vids bro. Keep up the vids. You had me dead on the intro.
"XXXTENTACION"oh i get it, you're dead cuz you are in real fucking life!
Liked the humor feature, very well prepared videos keep it up!

You covered this well
Hey mate, your videos are super informative. But just a thought, try to slow down your commentary, leave sufficient pauses in between your points so that the watcher can digest what you have just said. Keep up the solid videos man!
Chris Forsman thanks man, fair point, I'll keep it in mind
That intro tho
Your content is too good for your subscriber and view count, keep it up bro. Love this fuckin’ culture.

Im not a writer but I know alot of them from back in the days...still looking every city I go with my own eyes...but like to see what they up to online
Yes the internet has made graff a stylish thing to do, a lot of groupies claiming they are writers. This is the progression of graff. Is this good for the underground community that it once was. Is it even hip hop any more. I think the new generation has no clue to what graffiti is any more and why they do it!
Greece is the best for graffiti no doubt almost no cops+nobody cares its amazing also there are really cool heaven spots everywhere
please one the CC

Jk keep up the work my guy great video
What do you know about Graffite in the Arab world and can you do a video about it?
Could you make page were you take pictures of graffiti
Like benching them and posting them
Yes eyes glued to their phones good but now people can just nark right away when they see someone doing graff. Before by the time they got home to call the cops they likely didn’t care anymore or forgot.
CAN Control ahh yes a spike in public heros due to the mobile. Not to mention trying to film the whole thing aswell
@00:40 So much hate, my friend. Remember we're all here to express ourselves and newer people do it differently. Spread paint, not hate~ Teach, don't gatekeep~
seems like every new person getting into graffiti gets called a "toy" by everyone online. it's so dumb. everyone starts somewhere. and yes, you're going to suck at first, but giving/getting discouraging comments isn't gonna help this community grow.
Loving your vids bro 🤚🏼 notifications on 👌🏽 SORE237

Very true about styles! It was interesting seeing the contrast between UK and US graffiti of the 80s and 90s (London and NYC) and how different the styles were and how writers/artists visited both cities for influence. It defo hasn't got the same mystique nor originality about it now. I think the mistique behind it and the fact that you were doing it for real people to directly see in their everyday lives made it pretty magic back in the day. Although I like researching graff online and channels like this are great, it ain't what it used to be for the reasons you mention.
Insta, Facebook and all that bollox are about as underground and the sun. They're the sorts of thing a 'rebel' would indeed rebel against, which is what I guess people saw graffiti artists as. I wouldn't be seen dead on FB/insta because of what they are and what they stand for (censorship, lack of freedom, etc). I guess seeing writers plastering their stuff on these platforms really does take the magic away!
Yup I don’t understand some writers on IG who have like a thousand pics of the same throwie, like dude you’re just burning yourself out big time and the cops are for sure keeping a file on you.
You sounded like Tom Holland spoiling stuff in the beginning hahaha
Awesome Channel would be thankful if youd hit me up some Time names jaku
