The microSD slot has returned in the Samsung Galaxy S7! You'll find a space for it in a tandem tray for the nano SIM as well. This is a quick look at how that all works and a tip to be extra careful.
I like the removable battery better..as well as the sd card inside of the back cover.
if you lose that sim key, just use a paper clip
Or use a compass
I've used a mini skewer. You can also use a toothpick. Just be careful not to break the tip

Your video/explanation could not be more complete! You are right, putting my sim card in when I got the phone, I was really surprised (and terrified) that it didn't just snap in. Sometime later, I purchased an SD card and came back here to look at the video again. I know that most likely the SD card would be a lot like the SIM, not lock in.. BUT... was terribly nervous when I had what I thought was as "firmly" placed in as I could, and sliding the tray back in gave some resistance. Can't thank you enough or covering each and every detail - thanks so much!

Thanks for this video. I had an idea the slot was a combination of both sim and micro sd card, but checked this out to make sure. As for me, No time wasted. I appreciate thorough videos especially mentioning critical stuff that could go wrong in doing what seems to be a simple process. 'Been there and done that- screwing up on so simple stuff that I have done many times in the past with success but just get sloppy and hasty at one instance forgetting about critical Do's and Don'ts that led to expensive or time consuming makeshift repairs. True, a simple miniature pin, pointy paper tack, or micro clothes pin is all you need to do this job. But the reminders this video offers I bet is more appreciated rather than just being an annoyance. Better safe than sorry.

The Sim slot may have a rubber ring for waterproofing which may be the reason it's difficult to reinsert it.
+Jesus Melendez It does, and it is very visible - the grey edge just after the memory card space and under the top of the whole tray is the rubber.

I was scared shitless when i was doing this. I inserted the pin inside of the hole and the thing wasn't opening so i had to put in more pressure and i was scared i was gonna break my phone. So the opening came out a little and i had to grab it and pull it out with my hands, and instantly my sim card came out and dropped on the floor. I shitted my pants so much, I'm never doing this again.

I thought there was somewhere on the phone I was supposed to click that made it pop open (like a laptop spitting out a disc) LOL. Thank you soooooo much again :D

I was lost too, because I purchased a Samsung Galaxy 7...
and my purchase was delivered " WITHOUT "
that special " pin " that expels the holder for the sim, and the micro chip.
so I used a bent " paperclip, " and it worked ! The holder easily popped out. Paper clip to the rescue !

I cant get the sim tray to pop out... I've tried varying force with the metal tool. Help? I was able to get it once, but it was a massive pain. Can't believe I'm not seeing more issues with this.

Thumbtack did the trick for me too, thanks dude! :) I had to press slightly harder because the slot was a bit dirty.
I bent 3 paper clips; still won't open. Never again will I buy a Samsung phone.

how important is it to get a micro sd card that has UHS-3? Is it really necessary to be able to record good 4k video on the S7? Or will a UHS-1 high performance micro sd card do just as well?

Actually you don't need to power off your phone to insert / remove sd cards. You can open the tray while the phone is running.
Managed to get this done two years ago when I got my phone. Struggling to do it now to take out my Sim and SD card. FML

Sd card in mine for 3 years now no issues. I have not opened it since I first installed it 3 years ago and after watching this I won't be again until I upgrade the phone, no need to mess with it

Great video for anyone who has never used technology or who is very new to it.
Anyone else: the take away is that neither cards "lock" into their slots so use caution when inserting the tray. Lastly, after gently sliding tray almost all the way in, you have to push it the last little bit to get it to "lock in". What this gentleman forgets while bemoaning the scariness of this step is the phone is rated as waterproof. Of course it's going to need that extra oomph to lock it in place.
My sd card won't freaking stay in the thing. Someone tell me what to do. It eas fine for 2 days now it won't show up after like 10 minutes. I gave it oxygen, restarted, but it's invisible. SOMEBODY HELP ME
Stupid question - From removing my sim card about a half dozen times or so (experimenting with different micro sd cards), I've noticed that my sim card is getting noticeable scratches on it. I see the same thing in this video. Are those scratches bad, or do they negatively affect how the phone operates? Or could those scratches even wear out the sim? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Had an s4 for years, but it's starting to malfunction, so I said fuck it. I was all happy and couldn't wait for my s7 to arrive, lo and behold, I find out you cant take the back cover off, and to make it worse my phone didnt come with the eject pin... cause ebay.
The Samsung website says the Galaxy S7 Edge can take up to 256 gig memory card, not 200. You also forgot the importance of telling your viewers WHEN to go to settings and unmount the Micro SD card before removing it.
My stupid Galaxy S7 keeps saying that there's no SD card inserted. It's a 32 and I can't put my pictures on it. So my phone is running out of space. This phone is junk..... it also gets extremely hot the day I received it in the mail. They will not send me the sticker to send it back. I've called them and they never help me. This phone gets way too hot to even hold to just talk on it. These phones are DANGEROUS.
