  • During what Sen. Bernie Sanders called an Alice in Wonderland hearing, Senate environment committee Republicans on Thursday contradicted or ignored the near-unanimous consensus by climate scientists that global warming is real and man-made.
With Vermont and most of the country in the grip of another summer heat wave, Republicans on the Senate environment committee repeatedly tried to cast doubt on whether climate change is even occurring, let alone what should be done about it. They ignored a NASA report that last month was the second warmest June in recorded history. The ignored a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration report that 2012 was the hottest year on record in the United States.

Hey Senator, science is not based on consensus. Its based on fact. The problem is there are facts coming out that challenge even refute the Global Climate Change crap. The very fact that the planet is not heating up, the very fact that science has proven that the Sun has far more effect and affect on our climate and weather is proof that man is not the major cause of climate change. We also know that the planet has been warmer and colder during the history of man. Not to mention there was a rather lengthy report a couple of years ago that stated that we could stop polluting 100% today and it would not change the course of climate change for at least the next 200 years. Oh and that report came from the UN and they are also big Man Made Global Warming supporters as well. And lets not forget that China and India contribute far more than the USA and yet they are often left out of climate change debates. So Republicans are right to challenge your consensus.

_The problem is there are facts coming out that challenge even refute the Global Climate Change crap._
"Facts" which have been shown to be bogus.
_The very fact that the planet is not heating up,_
It _is_ heating up. It can just be made to _look_ like it's not if you, say, ignore the heat in the oceans.
_the very fact that science has proven that the Sun has far more effect and affect on our climate and weather is proof that man is not the major cause of climate change._
Actually the proof shows that the Sun isn't that big of a factor. After all, the other planets in the Solar System aren't experiencing nearly the same degree of warming as Earth.
_We also know that the planet has been warmer and colder during the history of man._
Which tells you nothing. That's like pointing out the sky has been brighter and darker.
_Not to mention there was a rather lengthy report a couple of years ago that stated that we could stop polluting 100% today and it would not change the course of climate change for at least the next 200 years._
Maybe not the course, but definitely the magnitude. Anyway, this is an argument of fatalism.
_And lets not forget that China and India contribute far more than the USA and yet they are often left out of climate change debates._
No, we've been including them in the debates. It's things like the Kyoto Protocol they got themselves removed from. And why shouldn't they? We're bearing the costs of their pollution.

    Make the better options available.
    Make plastic bottles be biodegradable.
Make the energy options affordable for people.
Programs that make way for the efficiency of energy.
There are Soo many energy patents that are withheld by the government. Our government should be the coolest thing in the Galaxy. Our kids should be safe n not kidnapped n terrible things done to them. All the kids on the planet should be cared for n have food. People should be able to find a job that they can do that makes sense financially. The cost of living should make sense...
Housing should be something affordable. There should be programs out the wazoo available and social workers.. greenhouse programs in the communities.
    Transportation programs...
Invention programs!!! We have to make the system make sense.
No one is a throwaway person
    Neither is the planet.
Thankyou Bernie for saying how you feel. I agree with you.
It would be nice to see systems work n make sense. To employ technologies and compassion both would be a dream come true wouldn't it.

Finally, contrast egoism with narcissism. Narcissism is more of a psychological pathology, than an ethical doctrine, but narcissism is ersatz egoism. It's what Ayn Rand called: selfishness without a self. Narcissists attempt to get their self esteem, not from their own accomplishments, but from praise, admiration and approval of others. But self esteem is necessarily self-generated. Narcissists have no self esteem, so they need to get their self esteem from others.

You make up 50% of the comments on this video, talking about narcissism and egotism. Video is about global warming and how we should stop it, yet on one of your comments you claim to want warmer weather because you like it, not thinking of the consequences... 10 years later, that weather has been more destructive than ever as many people die from fires, floods and earth quakes this entire summer.
Sir, I don't think you get to have say in eco matters nor ego matters. The only humble thing you can do at this point is bend your head in shame and remove all the comments you left under this video 😂

This is a case of simple context dropping. Egoism is about taking actions to preserve and acquire values. Other people are/can be of value to you. There is nothing unselfish about caring for your children/family/friends/loved ones, because they are YOUR values.

"Sorry. I don't believe I've ever heard of solipsism." Somehow that doesn't surprise me, given your level of philosophic sophistication.

Connor Brady say Goodbye to your insulting comment!

      Connor Brady
Strike two your post has been deleted again!
If you want to argue any of my points; Fine you must be respectful, but if you want to just attack , call names, insult and act like a child you shouo expect your comments to be deleted. You can start with my post pertaining to Sanders, and not a satirical/rhetorical/benign post from over a year and a half ago isn't up for debate. Politicians are free game to be mocked as they are public figures.
Ad hominem attacks are not productive. I will delete any such attack. If you have a point to make make , then make a point. I'm calling you out for attacking rather than debating YOUR position or any position!
However you choose to make it personal against me, then you've lost, you post deleted, and you are ridiculed for lack of your ability to convey a difference of opinion without resorting to insults. Any comment you make that isn't an attack, but rather an open exchange of ideas, rather I agree with them or not won't be deleted, make insulting ad hominem attacks within the comment against me, and it will still be deleted. Debate the issues, not your emotions against those who have a difference of opinion!

"Pretty sure I know your philosophy 'I got mine, Fuck You!!'"
Then why did she call her philosophy Objectivism?
'I got mine, Fuck You!!" Really? I though her philosophy, was first and foremost about reason and objectivity.

"More Randian bullshit." Actually, Virtue Ethics originated in Ancient Greece, Deontology mainly originated with Kant. Consequentialism has it's roots in Utilitarian philosophers such as John Stewart Mill and Jeremy Bentham. But I'm sure you already knew that.
You know, if you don't know what certain philosophic concepts are, you could always go to Wikipedia.

"What's the minimum that a person should have?" Tell me what you think. Some people think $10 per hour. Others think $12 per hour. Where do you stand?
Getting back to my original question to you, beyond what amount of money do you think is excessive?
"Do you also believe that someone working at Walmart or McDonalds should not be paid a living wage?" I don't believe I ever said such a thing. Also, please define "living wage." Thanks.
