Have a great Xmas Ivan and the team at Shed Racing. That Ginetta is going to be a lot of fun. The video production is streets ahead of the earlier ones, the content is always excellent. Hope to see an update on the 2 cylinder Mini engine.
Fantastic! … and not boring at all. I never get bored of watching other people work. Have a great Christmas everyone! Hope to see you next year some time :)
"Tappets", Castrol grease/3 in 1 oil (Coventry) "climax" ...older mechanics working on a Ginetta V6 Duratec ...I'm in my comfort zone, thumbs up. Subscribed.
Great stuff Ivan, takes me back to the late 60's. I was apprentice to a guy who raced, including a Chevy Camaro. We spent hours doing the heads, ports and chambers, just like you are doing. Once at Silverstone on the GP circuit the engine blew up. the driver said " there shouldn't be much wrong with it, because i put my foot on the clutch when it went". Broken conrod bolt, the rod sliced through the block and camshaft, and the piston buried its self into the valves. Happy days
The ‘boring’ stuff is what makes everything happen, in the way that you want it to happen. Good video, Ivan. You will have saved someone from an accident by pointing out the need to check every part and put it all together properly.
That gearbox looks great. Combining a motorcycle drum type selector in a car gearbox to make it sequential. What a beauty! Wait till you tension the stretch bolts fitting the head, the first time is a shocker
Well that was not boring at all Ivan! Always nice to watch you guys tinker with interesting engines and doing little tweaks like that porting work you did around the valves (presumably to remove sharp edges in the intake mixture flow which could collect fuel droplets, but it was hard to make out the real reason). Happy holidays anyways, you guys take care. Cheers,
Nice one Ivan! The engineering looks good on the engine and gearbox. You could do a 10 minute episode on your interesting bits in your desolate unit behind you. Also, looking forward to the next salmson episode.
Thanks Ivan for the wonderful Christmas present! Love watching your videos and cannot wait to see more. Have a great Christmas and look forward to seeing you again soon
I think thats why you see some old engines with what looks like a screwdriver slot in the middle of the valveface, it's not to tighten it up - it's in order to shed heat and allow that part of the valve to expand rather than the outer.
Just found your channel again, now it all makes sense where you disappeared too. Glad your back. Please keep posting as these video's are really enjoyable, many thanks.
Nice work I have a small surface grinder which I have made various little jigs so I can grind valve shims to suit my requirements when I don't have the particular size I need, saves a lot of waiting around for shims to be delivered, and on some of the older stuff it is getting harder to get them, so being able to fabricate them myself on the lathe and grind to size is ideal
Merry Christmas Ivan, I think I can speak for the vast majority of your viewers, when I say that we do not watch your content for excitement... But it is very soothing & relaxing to watch knowledgable & skilled men mending & modifying machines... Don't get dragged into all that show biz razamataz..! Keep it oily, and keep it gonzo... Love what you do.
Dear Ivan John and Josh, what a team thanks for the latest video great content and your attention to detail is breath taking as always , have a wonderful Christmas one and all looking forward to the next instalment
A very clever solution to the gear position sensor problem. Always well worth the time to look in, Ivan. Compliments of the season from the other side of the pond!
Thank you Ivan for the new channel and I look forward to seeing you in 2022. It doesn’t matter if it’s modern or old engineering I enjoy it all. Happy New Year to all the crew in Shed Racing 👍👍
Merry Christmas Ivan and crew. I’m used to seeing working on your vintage cars. I didn’t know you were involved in modern performance as well. Cheers Mate from across the pond
Ivan. Valve clearances the ones you ain’t got any shims for use as best and grind top of valve if to tight and cut /lap valve in more if gap to large job done every days a school day never too old to learn lol more vids mr legend
Ivan. Boring. Boring? This time the tears were due to me laughing so much I was choking on my German Christmas biscuit. That WAS so bloody funny. Thanks for your pep & tech talk. I will get back to you later Ron. Looking at the Duratec, I was wondering what the clearance is between the fully open valve and the pocketed piston. The head did not seem to have too much meat to it to allow for a skim. Couldn't find the MG Track video you mentioned. Take care. Mike in Germany.
Silly question but I noticed John putting all the valves and collets into one cup. I was a taught to number a piece of cardboard, punch them through so they all go back into the same locations or is that just not needed really. As long as exhaust and inlets are in their respective locations.
Hi Ivan. I was a bit surprised when your mate took the valves out & threw them in a pile. We always put them in order for reasembly. ??? I actually live 1/2 mile away from the Ginetta factory in Garforth. Regards. & merry Christmas.
UA-camrs should admit all their mistakes because we who are "living the life vicarious" just love hearing about the cock-ups. The gasket incident reminds me that something in the mail represents "external authority" which even the best of us are liable to fall victim to, even when what is delivered is a load of old bollocks.
Hey Ivan…Always a pleasure to help out a fellow Grawncher from Greenford 😁
Have a great Xmas Ivan and the team at Shed Racing.
That Ginetta is going to be a lot of fun.

Brilliant attention to every detail, every time.
Dear Mr Ivan . I really enjoy your videos . I am a petrol head from South Africa . Take care sir .

Brilliant as usual. I am delighted with the "upgraded" production team. :).
The ‘boring’ stuff is what makes everything happen, in the way that you want it to happen. Good video, Ivan. You will have saved someone from an accident by pointing out the need to check every part and put it all together properly.
Great stuff, Im a scrouge too, spending my Christmas welding up a Range Rover.
Can't wait to see that Salmson again, Ivan!

Happy Christmas to Ivan and the folk in the shed!
Have a great break and see you on the other side!
This is my favourite channel, and I really like the Ginetta video.
You could take a bit off the top of the valve stem if the clearances are on the tight side. Thanks for the video, most enjoyable.
Ivan you are a true legend

Is there a part 2 to this?
I always wanted either a G2 or G12-P.
When you find the place where all the Scrooge's go I'll come too. Can't be bothered with Christmas.
What gauge is the steam engine?

Where's part 2?
Use to make the car bodies g40s and50s at production glass fibre
I had 2 Saab's
Robert the Bruce
Just a pity the bloody adds do not disappear when you press the x, they take you to the site regardless.
I know what you mean about Christmas Ivan. Bit different when your a kid. When you get older, it all seems a bit naff.
Who is going to drive the Ginetta?
So now I know what Derek and Clive did when they retired from showbiz. (With apologies to Peter Cook and Dudley Moore).
Were caned for eating v8s
3.5 litre ecoboost. Not the best engine around. Plenty of these engines blow up.
