We are looking at this area. My cousin speaks highly of it. South Hills seems like a good area from some videos we've seen. Our agent is actively looking.

My parents graduated from Rhodes HS ('65). We lived in Old Brooklyn off of Gifford Ave, my earliest childhood memories were at that home (early 70's). My grandparents, aunts and uncles all lived in this area. Fond memories of the Cleveland Zoo too. I was baptized at Our Lady of Good Counsel. We would walk up to Nunzio's Pizza. I can't believe they are still there! I enjoyed watching your drive around and tickled pink to hear this community is thriving. I'll share with my Mom!😊

    Funny thing:
Where there grows an Elm tree, there is an old neighborhood.
    Hug your local Elm.
    It will hug you back.

Having grown up in Old Brooklyn, (1950's and 60's) I'm glad to see that my old neighborhood is still alight, at least a year ago.
Drew Cary grew up on Flowerdale Ave. As you go east it becomes Burger Ave, and then Ralph Ave. My family lived on the corner of Ralph Ave and W.32nd Street.
Several schools were mentioned here. If you go north 3 blocks from Ralph Ave you come to Oak Park Ave. On that corner is an old elementary school called William Cullen Bryant. It has the same street number as the house I grew up in. I went to school there, went to middle school at a school called Harper, and of course Rhodes high school (1965). This part of Cleveland has a lot of memories from my childhood, some good some not so good, Even so, it's home.
I moved away from there 42 years ago (Atlanta) and can still remember the area well. Old Brooklyn (center) is at the corner of Broadview Road (rt 76) and where West 25th Street becomes Pearl Road (rt 42) I suppose much of what I remember is either gone or changed greatly, like the old Broadview theater and the Royal castle burger stand, next door. Still It was and appears to be one of the best parts of Cleveland to live. Good.
Right at the end ,during the drive around, you passed the Honey Hut Ice Cream Stand. My brother and his family lived just down the street from there. The next traffic light was Oak Park and the next traffic light (going left) is Ralph Ave. Go 1 block east and you come to West 32nd street. The small brick house on the right is where I lived from age 3 to 18. My old neighborhood has changed over 42 years, but I still recognized a whole lot. Thanks for the short tour and the refreshing some memories.;-)

Thanks for watching!! I’m so glad you liked the video!! I’m a former Cleveland school teacher which is why I always drove by the schools in my videos. I had a friend that worked at William Cullen Bryant. My grandparents lived in Old Brooklyn off Valley Rd so I feel like I kind of grew up in Old Brooklyn myself. Honey Hut was such a treat…the best ice cream ever!!

My parents graduated from Rhodes High School in 1965 also. They were high school sweethearts. Bob C. and Janet M.😊

I really liked Old Brooklyn and it's good to see it doing well. I was born in the 60's in the now-gone Deaconess Hospital in Old Brooklyn and grew up off of Ridge in Brooklyn. Several members of my extended family lived in Old Brooklyn. I spent a lot of time in high school and college there...Theo's, the Glenn....I was heavily involved with the Old Brooklyn Community Theatre in those days and really enjoyed it.

I will never understand why Lakewood is now the place to be. Living there felt like being in a citywide beer garden where cops looked the other way as drunk drivers had the time of their lives. I know several people pulled over by police and left to drive off drunk as skunks and my wife once witnessed a women flip her car upside down and crawl out drunk. We had another one crash into a phone pole right in front of our house. Cops were too busy harassing families for their cats getting outside and other serious crimes. There were no family activities at all unless your children are alcoholics or clergymen.

@Jeremie M I lived there from 2004-2012. When I told people where I lived, a lot of CLE people had never heard of it. People recognizing it all is funny to me. Not sure when or why that happened.

There’s a lot of hidden crime in old Brooklyn. It is a pretty area but I don’t think I’d live there.
