Yes. Things have changed since I was in, though our way of fashioning the beret snugly around the cap badge was probably frowned on my those who went before us.
I've noticed that in several recent video clips I've watched - cap-badge migrating away from over the left eye towards the ear.....and a few berets looking like cow-pats!
First and foremost, I hope the Rifles, past and present, will accept the respects and regards from an old American cavalry corporal. A respectful tip of the Stetson to you. I have to give WO2 Lewis a HUGE clap... Brother, that is some **truely** magnificent face fur. I'm a bit jealous, really. You see, I'm a US Civil War reenactor and we're all supposed to look like Grizzly Adams with a huge beard and maybe a little bit crazy, but in 50+ years of trying I can only grow crab grass on my cheeks 🤣 The same goes to the Rifleman at 2:10 A mustache worth the wax!
Always good to have a bugler play the last post and not a bandy with a trumpet. ( =no criticism intended, it is often a resource issue on ANZAC Day with not a lot of buglers to go around)
The army now seems to wear the beret like a Girl Guide. In the past the regulation was that the badge should be over the left eye with beret one inch above the eye, only the paras did their own thing but I think that was because of the shape of the badge.
Have always said that the army should adopt a modern combat uniform that can incorporate modern fabrics, integrated knee pads and the like and then never see an iron, and then a barracks uniform that can be kept smart.
There is a tradition of Bugle Majors wearing "lamb chop' whiskers. Amongst the most famous of these was Bugle Major Collin Green (Royal Green Jackets) who was the senior BM of the Light Division in the 1970's. He appeared many times leading the massed bands and bugles at major events which were televised and can bee found on UA-cam
Congrats to the selected man. Traditions are important, and, this one is also good PR.
with a tash like that he deserves to win, outstanding
That this competition is entirely voluntary and the enlisted still want to do it says a lot about tradition in the British military.
Of course the Rifles move so swiftly that their berets cannot keep up, hence the cap badge over the left ear!

45 Cdo RM were the guys to wear their lids like that… 30 years ago! 🤣
Could the British Army please send a official delegation to the U.S. Army to instruct them on how to properly wear a beret?
Absoultly
We tried that over 150 years ago. They are getting close, but they still get it wrong.
Hahaha lol 😂
I totally agree and please also ask them to leave their sunglasses on the beach
Private Frank Spencer will attend.
The CO should have been wearing a hat for the presentation so that he could return the salute.
The CO is a Hat.

Happy to see the old Light infantry stable belt is still being used.I thought it wasn't used any more.
The drill was shocking ,the double was a bag of spanner’s , Ex 2LI buglers will be laughing
To have heard some of the sounding would have been nice!
One for the CV - CO's bugler.
Smartly turned out and the ability to fire three rounds a minute in all weathers.
It's good to see we have progressed
Nice to see those warm weather uniforms in use

If only our politicians had HALF the professionalism of the British Army!
Soldiers are brave.

Are the Rifles stationed in Cyprus all the time or is it a rotational regiment among other Infantry regiments?
It’s just a single Rifles battalion.
Rotational. Probably 2 years, maybe 3.
Congratulations Drew Collings and to all the winners 🍺🏆🍾🥂
I think we can all agree that all the outrageous facial hair on display was the real winner! 👌
All that to blow a bugle, seems funny to me
I thought the title said Burger lmao
Ah, the sun never sets…
Looks like round 2 in the X Factor where they goto the judges home.

Thought that wasn’t allowed in the Army. My, how times have changed.

If you take soldiers out of poorly fitting MTP and FAD they can actually look smart. Impressive.

The best in the battalion at using his tongue… 👍🏻🦎
Was based in a LI camp, what a bleeding racket, first thing guard parade and in the evenings, EVER Day...
Very confused about rule on beards and misstates
I hate it when a lazy doldier salutes with the erong hand!
How's the WO got away with that facial hair?!
Yeah, it the first time I've ever seen anyone with facial hair like that in the forces.

Some traditions should just be ignored
Since WHEN does the British Army have its capbadge almost over the left ear? Get the poser in the slammer.
It looks ridiculous.
Oh bore off you dinosaur
The Parachute Regiment has been doing it since the 1970s. The line infantry and rifles are just copying the paras these days, bunch of hats 😂.
Google is your friend.
It moved on at some point after I left. Literally and metaphorically!
Amount of people getting annoyed😂😂😂, grow up🥲😂
Probably bedwetting civvies. Who were actually, you know, like totally, going to join up but, you know, cowardice.
