SAFIA covering The Mars Volta playing No One Knows? nice
Miranda, thats ghost just isnt holy anymore. Thats the song that this reminds me of.
Fucking nailed it bro!
I thought that too! You are awesome hahaha
so right hahhaha
@@brianpoklay7075 reminds me of The Widow
Bruh this is like the perfect intro music for a western.
This is simply a testament to the original song having excellent roots in the writing. No matter any artists' take on it, it's gonna be good.
So many like a versions are just carbon copies of the originals. I love it on the occasion when an artist is talented enough and imaginative enough to do something truly different... "*like* a version" of another song. I love the QOTSA original. But this gave me goosebumps in the build-up to verse 2. Bump-day request anyone?
James Newton me too
Songs For The Deaf is my favorite album of all time! That's a damn good rendition of a classic song :D
Classic in 2 more years, maybe.
Qotsa is my favorite band… and this just gives me chills. Bravo, truly bravo. What an amazing voice.
Man that guitar tone is Killer ! Excellent cover , I friggin loved it !!
Love the way you made it your own version!
11/10
3:05 that could have been a Queen song from the 70s. imagine Brian May playing that and Freddie singing in that style
Today I learned that the singer of SAFIA is a boy
I'm still not certain
@Random Dude you say that, but the proof is in the comments bra
Man*
I apologise for taking your comment likes to 70 momentarily. I corrected my error.
Portishead + Samwell Tarly + QOTSA
You're right, this needs a chunky bass beat. Imagine it overlayed on the beat from Machine Gun.
You gotta take risks to stand out but goddamn this risk did not pay off. Changing a song to make it new is great, but I just was waiting the whole time for the song to ramp up
This is like if The Vampyre of Time and Memory and No one Knows had a baby
No one in this comment section understands music, the whole point of this cover is to not match the song but to bring out the sad nature of the lyrics, i got goosebumbs the second it was over, well done boys dont listen to any of these fuckwits 😈💪✌
So if u don't like this cover you are a fuckwit? Interesting.
‘Sad nature of the lyrics’ = Doesn’t understated lyrics.
I was happy when it finished too. Trash.
The original isn’t a sad song at all, sooooo what sad nature of the lyrics?
Interesting rendition, I appreciate the musicianship and everything is on point especially the Vocalist! You made the cover your own, I respect that
If it wasn't a cover it would be a nice song on its own... but since it's a cover, all I can say is that they took everything that's meaningful and powerful from the original song and didn't bother to put anything else in return. It's just bland...
its so boring. his voice isnt strong enough to carry it
Just like most of the stuff they play on triple j now... bland
@@patwaddington i wouldnt say that everything on triple j is bland "now"
I find that most people who say that are triple j Old hats that are out of touch with new music. its ok youre getting older, just dont be a dick about it
So it would be a nice song, yet because it's a cover it's bland? Literally no logic to this beard-stroking nonsense at all.
@@Aardvarked88 It would be just a nice chill song, but when you compare it to what it was originally, it changes the way you perceive it. It's not that hard to understand that
OMG ! This is incredibly mesmerizing. A wonderful cover of this legendary track.
I liked the start but like others I thought it was going to rev up somewhere. If you want a haunting version with the bombastic climax check out the No One Knows mashup with Adele's Skyfall, it's pretty damn spine tingling.
I miss Dave's drumming now...
Very talented but cant say id prefer over the original.
very different. amazing cover of an amazing song
Whisper singing ruins a lot of music
King gizzard LAV when
Gizz covering Zappa or Crimson.
Holy shit that was amazing
set playback speed to 1.75x you're welcome
still drags
Makes the solo sound like Alain Johannes
*inhales deeply*
Most satisfying exhale in months. 🖤

After reading through some comments, maybe it's bc I don't listen to the radio, I've not been a big Stone Age fan, but this... as a stand alone, as if I'd never heard it, was beautiful. Sometimes you must forget what you know to embrace the beauty in front of you.
Amen... couldn't have said it better myself
It's because you don't listen to the radio and are not a QOTA fan.
That sounded like it could have been sung by a 13 yr old girl auditioning for the voice.
No heart, no soul, no life experience to give it the substance it deserves. Just repeating the words of the most mainstream song by a band they once overheard was cool from their best friends older brother.
I'm a huge fan of the original I remember waiting by the radio years ago just so I could know the name of the song and who sang it and it took some time for me to find out. But I'm open to anything and I gotta say Safia gave it his own touch and I love it as well, of course it's no QOTSA. Sounds somber and I'm enjoying it. Two completely different versions.
This cover suits the QOTSA dark tone so well
Damn, haunting. Dig it!
this could be in some movie soundtrack.
sounds like the s oundtrack to one of the last game of thrones episode trailers
How many guitar players heard a pick fall?
This might be the most disappointing Like a version I've heard. Gonna go
re-listen to the Nothing But Thieves cover of Gang of Youths again I think.
This one builds to nothing. Where's the payoff? No one knows.
Nope sorry just not it
Piano is nice Guitar work is excellent but the rest is no.
So the vocals suck then
Kinda reminds a little of Talkshow Host by Radiohead. Fantastic Like A Version and wish Safia the best of luck this year.
Didn’t wanna cry on my lunch break
In my opinion this style just doesn't really work for the song, particularly the lack of 'oomph' in the vocals, but props to them for actually taking the risk of using creative licence when making a cover rather than copying the original style.
uhhhh.. this is horrible.
I can’t unhear this..
I was expecting the drop the whole time but actually enjoyed this more
Nope!... Sounds like a M&S Christmas version! I'm not denying his vocal capacity is solid as hell! But I would've like to hear a version that challenged the guitarist and the pianist through the chords! Nice use of the e-bow on the solo, totally respect the guitarist wanted to show he has chops!
Not a bad cover. But personally speaking, I don't like it.
why they gotta do the song dirty like that? yikes
Boring 😴
Awful.
Crap
why is it that out of every like a version cover on spotify this one is the one that isn’t on there
I also demand answers
Safia are a talented bunch of lads, but this didn't really do it for me.
yeah nah
Yuck...... imo that was bad.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Absolutely butchered it
Sounds like if someone said do "No One Knows" for the next big horror movie trailer. Meh.
M. Pollock some quirky American horror story shit. Not here for it
The song is own itself is a little bit horror like. Also Songs for the Deaf as an album filled with horror like elements.
Wow that dude sounds like a lady. Amazing voice!
yep Aerosmith wrote a song about him in the 80s
Well done!
That sounded like it could have been sung by a 13 yr old girl auditioning for the voice.
No heart, no soul, no life experience to give it the substance it deserves. Just repeating the words of the most mainstream song by a band they once overheard was cool from their best friends older brother.
this sounds like adele’s theme for skyfall
There's just nothing to this. Why do so many LAVs suck like this.
Well I fukin loved it!
QOTSA doesn’t lend itself as easily covered in a slower tempo.
Most of their discography is loud and bombastic, sometimes obnoxiously so (as a huge fan of the band)
The second verse sounds A LOT better than the beginning here, because the louder vocals transposed with the quiet instrumentals captures that harrowing and sometimes disturbing sounds QOTSA is also known for.
They do have some quieter slower songs.
It is NOTHING like this pansy monotonous shit though
Was really hoping it was going to pick up at some point.. but still love SAFIA
I've played this song to deaf...and I was pleased with this version because it was not what I expected
I thought this was beautiful - loved the slower acoustic version!
@Uncle Acid and the Electric Wizard Haha you're right - my bad!
I dig it man! Really cool. Well done
Loving the guitar tones on this. Haven't seen anyone use an ebow since Opeth. Really cool cover!
Troy from QotSA uses an E-Bow sometimes. Normally on his slide guitar.
@@CCDaDon15 did not know!
@@chrisspectre81 yeah! If you watch them perform I Think I Lost My Headache you can see him using one.
People can dislike the style or say they prefer the original, everyone has their preferences, but fuck me people saying this had no soul or that it was unimaginative are idiots. Loved it, changed it up and made it their own.
Amén bro
This is a bit dull.
Holy shit man. Givin me some Muse vibes tbh
Could be used for a movie or tv show.
Fucking bone chilling. Incredible
Hauntingly beautiful.......
Took an exciting song and made it boring... no thanks...
back again because this is stunning
Didn't think to maybe google the lyrics first, eh?
Brave move covering QOTSA, but they fuckin nailed it.
Goosebumps the whole time. Incredible
Really awesome different take on this song! His voice is awesome :)
Damn this is a fat blue fin tuna!
that was terrible
Seems like that's the popular thing to do now take a rocking track, slow it down use pianos and synth, sing like a thirteen year old girl and suck the soul out of the original for all it's worth and hope it gets played in a tv show or movie trailer. And people eat it up like it's a new soy based protein based on a meat product. May resemble something interesting but definitely doesn't taste the same. Bland, boring and disappointing.
was hopeful at the beginning, but this really went nowhere 😒
Fine cover, but not my style
Lovely cover, specially the guitar bit, but the voice also great nonetheless
sounds a bit like brain may
Sorry but this is a snorefest
No One Knows Ver. Desert Sessions
How to ruin a song
Play it at 1.25 speed. Excellent.
bout time some QOTSA
Fucking dope
Ok. Now what?
I can't get past the weird hand movements.
meh
What was the guitarist using on his strumming hand during the solo???
An ebow
@@timmyg8206 I misread your comment and thought you were dissing the solo by saying he was playing with his elbow lol
Then I looked up what the device was and saw it as EBow and came back here to re-read your comment and saw it never had the L I'd thought it had.
Prowler9000 REM have a song called ”E-bow the letter”. Radiohead have used it in some songs
@@RayasNegroOvejas e-bow the letter was a neat experience. Thanks :)
Yeah nah.
SAFIA + MAD WORLD????
Could have Australia-ed this up like the sounds I Know Leopard are using these days and made it truly unique, iconic, and a little throwback 80s with all sorts of neat ambient sounds but instead we get a boring Gary Jules-esque Mad World-lite ripoff off what is truly a rock classic. Thumbs down.
thought he was gonna let loose at some point and it never happened.......way to theatrical...
Would love to hear them cover Someone's In The Wolf
Carbon_based_life_form something from lullabies would work so much better than SFTD
@@shakawkaw0metroid Or I Appear Missing.
What a twist..
Otherworldly. Absolutely epic fellas.
Loving the thriller movie trailer vibes.
Yeah, nah..
Sounds dark and gloomy. Love it!!!! Still prefer the original.
This was insanely great! I love this song, but I think I might like this better than the original.
