I feel for Bomber yet I cannot believe the loyalty he shows towards Hird. He has not shown any loyalty to Bomber, club and most of all the players in this whole affair it has been Hird first and screw the rest. After being told by ASADA and the AFL not to go down the path he did it then lied and tried to cover it up. It shows how much contempt he has for the club and everyone else concerned. Even his own legal team advised him to step down but he again dictated to them also. Shame HIRD Shame

The club didn't know it was a drug
A major part of Bomber Thompson's personality is that he shirks confrontation. He never confronted Gary Ablett Jnr over him wanting to leave for Gold Coast, and in this interview, he blames the AFL for not intervening when Hird & Co. were administering drugs. He wanted the AFL to come in, because he himself was too weak to confront and fight for what was right. Sad situation.
Few need to watch open mike with Bombers interview.. ASADA’s two-year pursuit of doping allegations against Essendon footballers is at an end, with the agency deciding not to appeal an AFL tribunal decision which cleared all 34 current and former players. IF I WAS PART OF THIS SAGA.. I'D SUE THE FUCK OUT OF EVERYONE CONCERNED!!!!
This still brings up all those old sick to the stomach feelings from all those years ago. The whole damn thing still makes me so fucking angry. And how much longer will it continue to haunt the club. The shadow of Dank still looms over us and the fucker got away with it all without ever having to say a God damn thing!

Bomber was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time come on Ablett, Selwood, Bartel, Chapman. Anyone could of coached that side.

Come on he actually set a standard , and left that legacy at the club , the guy was a master plumber and employing 120 people while playing for Essendon at 21 years old , for my opinion as a Geelong supporter , I have great respect for the culture bomber started and the start of a system and culture . In the 21st century , Geelong easily has the best win loss record of any team and 3 flags , a lot of this is due to that culture shift and the influence he had on those young guys
@@leonidastsouris2557 In 2007 he had 9 All Australian Players an AFL Record. This year Richmond had 1 All Australian Player, JNR, Bartel, Johnson, Chapman they were not champions because of Bomber they would of been champions anywhere as JNR proved when he went to the Suns.

+JRsportshub no I didn't. And in the overall scheme of things it doesn't matter to me. Essendon and AFL have tried to avoid the WADA rules at every turn. What is your opinion on James Hird and his ridiculous challenges right up to Federal Court?
How about Hird's startling revelation that he would shoot up to get a suntan as he didn't get enough sun? Do you think there are any other AFL coaches that engage both them and their players in such a dangerous and experimental programme?
How about Kyle Riemers getting shunned becasue he refused to partake?
I know all of this is difficult to accept as an Essendon supporter, and it is difficult for me to accept and I don't support the mighty Bombers. Sometimes things happen in life and in sport that shouldn't happen. This Essendon saga is one that shouldn't have happened, and did.
