So what do you think - Do you like the idea of free-path-finding or would you have preferred pre-made structures? I mean, its not really a question, is it? ;-)
Dude! At 7:56 there's a placard of a currently unconfirmed large-antlered cervid! Since all the others are based on confirmed animals, I reckon this means a red deer announement is on the way!
Not a question. Free-path is great. I'll take glitches on my own design over pre-made perfection any day ;) -Also...as a programmer, I'm thinking of how they might do it. In terms of a "max slope" ability per animal, I wonder if stair edges are unclimbable for say...elephants just because of the vertical face--or if they consider a max height/distance of the slope to determine that the elephant can step that high.
Dear Rudi, Planet Zoo is going to be an overnight success after its release, but there are certain things that you need to consider. Since you have no programming background I can break down the climbing mechanics for you. Firstly, each piece of build-able structure has its coordinates in the game's world and each climbing animation is then decided according to the distances between those coordinates. The main issues is not the algorithm that developers have implemented, but the player's building style since there is only a limited set of animations and the algorithm itself will never have an immaculate AI to compliment it. Endless bugs will always occur when using more advanced structures and there is not much that you can't do about it if you are trying to optimise such game for a vast audience. Because of very similar reasons the animations of the visitors when colliding with other objects in the game world look clumsy and unpolished. The current state of the game is impressive and it will definitely improve, but I would recommend you not to make empty promises to your audience when the technical implementation is insufficient to back them up.
I think its silly that the trees don't add to the climbing need. And also just how many enrichment items so many animals need just to be content. Especially with the reptiles like the tortoises and crocodiles. Fingers crossed that we get some more natural looking enrichment items on release or from mods once the game is out so that my exhibits don't all have to have beach balls and carboard boxes scattered around them.
@@RudiRennkamel You're right :) Hopefully they'll do that and make some more naturalistic feeders and enrichment items. But if not, then mods will come out to fix that soon enough I bet.
@@CloudStyleGamer I thought they had confirmed a while back that it would be steam workshop compatible just like Planet Coaster. If it doesn't I'm going to be disappointed because a lot of the enrichment items look distractingly unnatural and I always prefer to make naturalistic enclosures for my animals.
@@mechanicobra Planet Coaster has the Thememakers Toolkit which is not quite the same as mods. If we do get the Toolkit in PZ, I imagine it will only be for scenery items, at least only to start with.
As much as i am excited about this game and looking forward to it, i have to say i would prefered if they postponed the release for a few months because even though all the footage i've seen looks great, it also seems like the game will be full of bugs and not only animals climbing but i've seen many bugs of weird behavior when it comes to zoo staff, visitors doing crazy things, stucking into each other making huge stucked crowd where half the people wants to go one way and the other half the other way and they are stuck into each other (5:12) and a lot of other reports of stuff not functioning properly. I understand that its not final build of the game and some things will be fixed in the release version but i think most of the stuff won't be. I've been waiting for this game for a long time so i wouldn't mind waiting few more months for the game to be much better and much more polished.
There are so much more people working on this game than for example back then on planco. And planco used to have as much bugs and they fixed most of it until release.
Warte schon sehnsüchtig auf das game :0 coole informative videos! Weiter so! Denkst du es wird möglich sein tiere in das game zu modden? So wie in ZT2?

Can’t wait for this game. First game I’ve ever built a new PC for.

yeah there has to be some balancing done. But its normal that gets done at the end :)
