Thank you. Its such a sad thing that talent musicians are accused of tracking their music because the rest of the mediocre and untalented pop artists do it, therefore everyone else does as well. Because it cant be actual talent that they have
i think that's just the sustain of the instrument, you can clearly hear the difference when he starts to play again. i'm not saying they don't use tracks (they do on the voices at the very least) but not on this specific bass case
There's a lot of tiny differences and imperfections in their playing and singing that indicate very strongly that it's real. In the end, I'd rather ditch the unwarranted cynicism and just enjoy their ability for what it is
I was just looking on the Internet for dome good 90s hard rock songs and just when all hope seemed to be lost this band popped so I listened to this song and I can honestly say that some hope has been restored!! Rock on!!
This has to be the best band ever! They took the best from every awesome hair metal band, put it together, fund the most awesome guitarist and the most sexy bassist and thus the legend of Steel Panther was born!
I love the vocal seque back into the chorus at 3:40. shows so much emotion and enthusiasm that you never see otherwise in todays music! This has to be one of the greatest rock videos ever!
God what i love about Steel Panther is that musicly they are all incredibly talented but they couldn't give a fuck and take the piss outta everything honestly would love to play in a band like this would be so much fun!
I hear ya.. I also didn't see him go back over and step on anything when the solo began or ended so I am sure it is a combination of effects at teh board, backing tracks, and live performance. There are a few performances from this show where clearly they cut in a vocal backing track. You can totally tell.. I think this is part of their sound as they are essentially making fun of lip synching too..they mix it well though.
Don't forget that you can add effects at the board and punch them in and out if needed. Not only that but he might have a discreet pedal board at his feet, a lot of the videos show them from the knees up but you are right i haven't seen anything obvious on the floor so I can't know for sure. All I am saying is that the harmonizer or other effects unit would easily get that effect to make it sound like there are 2 guitars playing the lick.
@SlayerPagey When I said below "string RESONANCE doesn't re-create consistent eight notes" -that means that the resonance (that I can hear) is not from one note being played! The bass continues pedalling (bass term) in an 8th note pattern. Look at 1:29 when he does the spin and at 4:36 (bass backing track still pedalling notes) . I'm not dissing this band because they are great and they do not take themselves seriously BUT I wanted to point out that what you hear and see live is not always live!
@MusicByAngels Yeah, on the keyboards and the guitar solo it plays a second guitar for the harmony part. They don't want a 5th guy in the band haha. But the guys are actually singing and playing all the other instruments.
Sure wished they allowed embedding, I would post all of this on my facebook and show my friends my new favourite band! Great songs, great quality footage great showmanship!
Some voice over is used on harmonies and high notes where they add in some delay and chorus. Some of the guitar double overs can be done with an octave pedal or harmonizer though. Tons of Boss patch stuff that allows you to pick the intervals of the harmony. Some of it I am sure is probably also voiced over but he actually plays and Russ is a kick ass player. If you play guitar you can see that the vibrato is consistent and the runs are choppy in parts..
There's no keyboard player. It's playing off a backing track and a click track for the drummer to keep em all in time with the backings and extra guitar harmonies.
@the80srocker1 Ralph, the singer was in a VH tribute band called Atomic Punks, and he was a DLR clone, looks and voice, for there set. It was mind blowing to see live!!!
the whole feel the steel is a homage to, i guess, their favourite metal songs and bands. party all day - bon jovi, livin on a prayer girl from oklahoma - extreme, more than words
these guys play their instruments i know iv'e played with them on stage before and if they don't play their instruments why would they have their gear hooked up? ;)
Philippe Modaressi I’ve been on stage with them too and for them occasions they play live. But away from that they play everything basically like it is on the track. Hence why they use backing tracks for some of Michael’s singing and the rhythm guitar. Stix has some music player next to his kit and how do u think they time it so well to get into songs?? I seriously think they have earphones that lead up to what Stix has that plays the music in their heads and then backstage is where they mix the live mic and original tracks.....
Retro rules! The lead singer's voice sounds like David Lee Roth's, The tune is reminicent of Whitesnake's Is this love?, and the whole parody thing is right out of the pages of Spinal Tap! It brings me back! Thanx 4 giving me laughs! Love '80's cheese!
@jackop12 No backing track..... Just some playbacks mixed live with the instruments..... The keys, the 2nd guitar.... But he's actually singing.... The shout at the end is louder because he was SHOUTING! :P
everyone saying that there all faking and lip syncing are idiots, yes in this song they are as you can tell with some of the bass moments but that's for entertainment perposses as you can also clearly see, they are great live even when they do really play, like 99% of there other songs, remember not all are fake paying/lipsyncing
yea if you look towards the end you can see the bass player with his hands in the air and some how the bass is still being strummed..the guitar in the beginning sounds like 2 guitars if you listen real close.
Completely converted, only heard of them and yesterday got the 2 albums - seriously, these guys are fuckin' awesome! Brilliant musicians, filthy as fuck, great laugh. Can't wait to see them live! Haven't laughed as hard at an album since the first Tenacious D CD, and equally impressed at what a tight band they are, just brilliant.
It's amazing how these guys decided to give a miss on fame and fortune to have a good laugh =) They're awesome.
+Def Leggend You know what I mean, they're amazing songwriters, if they had a bit more serious topics they would be considered rock legends for sure
they are pretty unique - and they are famous....
OOOHHHH, Styx it inya, the joke has flown back over and entered my mind.
Sticks Zadinya
For anyone who think it's tracked, listen to 2:54 the bass guitar is a semitone off and corrects it later.
It's an extremely obvious mistake.
Thank you. Its such a sad thing that talent musicians are accused of tracking their music because the rest of the mediocre and untalented pop artists do it, therefore everyone else does as well. Because it cant be actual talent that they have
True, but what about the harmony of satchels solos? Either tracked or someone's sitting behind the stage ;-D
Right ...but then at 4:35 , freaking Lexi Fox is playing with his hair and yet the bass is clearly in the mix. It's hilarious.
i think that's just the sustain of the instrument, you can clearly hear the difference when he starts to play again. i'm not saying they don't use tracks (they do on the voices at the very least) but not on this specific bass case

2:22 Lexxi is NOT having any of that! Lol
AWESOME! I honestly can't figure out why i love this band so much LOL
FullShock29 that MUST be it LOL
you love them because they are fucking funny
Doesn't it sound like Whitesnake "here I go again"! But love these guys!! Such a throw back to happier times
1:28 most perfect spin of alll times. So synced with the rhtym.
The whole aesthetic of this video I love, it’s like your watching a VHS tape of a live performance!
I hate to say it but this must be one of the best live acts out there both musically and performance wise..... :D
i can't even believe how beautiful this song is.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I cant get enough of this, true sound of the 80s with a beautiful hilarious twist.
they are so good, I want to cry...
By a millions miles the best before song banter EVER. I wish so bad they would come close to Louisville KY. I need to see this band live.
This band is amazing.
I was just looking on the Internet for dome good 90s hard rock songs and just when all hope seemed to be lost this band popped so I listened to this song and I can honestly say that some hope has been restored!! Rock on!!
was a great concert, all the better to see these guys show the footage from it!
they are just amnazing. its like traveling back in time.
They're a mock-n-roll band. Mocking the 80's. Are you really surprised that they use backing tracks? It all seems appropriate.
But no one thinks for a min that they want to bring 80 back??
I'm sure they do. They're just doing it in the funniest way possible. Their show speaks for itself.
I think im not blind when i see those instruments are being played
This has to be the best band ever! They took the best from every awesome hair metal band, put it together, fund the most awesome guitarist and the most sexy bassist and thus the legend of Steel Panther was born!
@badgerx51 They were amazing indeed at Ozzfest on Saturday! Glad I had a chance 2c them!
I love the vocal seque back into the chorus at 3:40. shows so much emotion and enthusiasm that you never see otherwise in todays music! This has to be one of the greatest rock videos ever!

I love how the whole song is just Here I Go Again by Whitesnake xD
I know your hungry I can see it in your eyes cause your lookin at me like I'm a side of fries- best line ever lololllolol
best steel panther song ever
Explanation to the backing track : when they play, it stops, but when they don't play, they put it in background. They do this for some songs only
the beginning makes me piss myself with laughter everytime lol
GREATEST BAND ON THE PLANET! - And for any other as well!
This would be a great DVD!
@Canadianciaran you going to Soundwave, me too, in Brisbane, look forward to seeing them!

this is metal on every level
I hear ya.. I also didn't see him go back over and step on anything when the solo began or ended so I am sure it is a combination of effects at teh board, backing tracks, and live performance. They're surprising good live!

@cthep They seem to be actually playing it, the second guitar is probably a track or a harmonizer, the synth is a recording
Love the harmonizer, so 80's.
killer band
@the80srocker1 Ralph, the singer was in a VH tribute band called Atomic Punks, and he was a DLR clone, looks and voice, for there set. It was mind blowing to see live!!!
they need to put this entire show out on DVD!!
STEEL PANTHER OWNS ALL!!!!!
the whole feel the steel is a homage to, i guess,
their favourite metal songs and bands.
party all day - bon jovi, livin on a prayer
girl from oklahoma - extreme, more than words
This video took me back to the 80's
These guys are crazy.

THE LEAD SINGER SINGS LIKE DAVID LEE ROTH, AWESOME!!! LETTING BEHIND THE LYRICS THAT MAKES ME LAUGH SO MUCH!! THEY ARE VERY TALENTED MUSICIANS.
Retro rules! The lead singer's voice sounds like David Lee Roth's, The tune is reminicent of Whitesnake's Is this love?, and the whole parody thing is right out of the pages of Spinal Tap! It brings me back! Thanx 4 giving me laughs! Love '80's cheese!
these guys are hilarious...and you've got to admit, pretty good musicians too.
I like this band. I have their cd,
they are playing along to the CD. Its not exactly lip syncing, cause they are still plugged in
@jackop12 No backing track..... Just some playbacks mixed live with the instruments..... The keys, the 2nd guitar.... But he's actually singing.... The shout at the end is louder because he was SHOUTING! :P
@Captaincappy1994 it is, sometimes you can hear the voice but michael isn't even holding the mic. but it's all for the show :P
i hope there in tokyo when i go to japan which happens to be in a month
@PoofDuddy he was singing over a backing track, at the bit he just put the mic closer to his mouth so it appeared louder
Im not gonna lie, these guys are amazing musicians. I really wanna see them live now
they play very well LIVE
everyone saying that there all faking and lip syncing are idiots, yes in this song they are as you can tell with some of the bass moments but that's for entertainment perposses as you can also clearly see, they are great live even when they do really play, like 99% of there other songs, remember not all are fake paying/lipsyncing

Completely converted, only heard of them and yesterday got the 2 albums - seriously, these guys are fuckin' awesome! Brilliant musicians, filthy as fuck, great laugh. Can't wait to see them live! @Andybaby Well it makes sense, he was the lead singer for a Dave-era tribute band at one point.
@Rehabescapie420 And it's awesome because now they're touring with Crue.
dont think there is anyone id like to do coke with more than steel panther.
