    Au-11000 definitely one of my fav amps from Sansui.
    Definitely I will recommend a full recap to anyone is using a completely original one.
    I had the chance to heard 3 other units plus mine (4 total).
    All of them with the same problem "pre amp section".
    All the capacitors where completely off specs, and the sounds was harsh in the hights.
    All of them went for a recap and come back as a completely new amplifier.
    Please follow my advice and you will not regret.
    A Minimum work to perform I would recommend, would be: Pre amp section and power supply.

    Although this amplifier was one of the best at the time, this particular test is in no way useful to determine its excellent sound characteristics because, if you guys observe, the speaker selector switch is in the off position and there are no speakers connections at all on the amplifier´s left side . I see no point in testing just the preamp section, leaving its wonderful power amp. untouched.

    From the Golden age mid 70s hifi. A decade later it was sad to see the deterioration in quality of iconic Japanese companies like Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC and others.

    Is the integrated amp being used just as a preamp ? I don’t see any cables connected to the spring loaded speaker terminals.
    EDIT: I just read the video description, silly me.

      He uses it as pre amp.
      If you see the "speaker selector" it is at "off" position

  • @iulianiulian584
    @iulianiulian584 4 роки тому +2

    I don't understand..., at that position of the volume dial, the speakers should blow away. Those speakers should be small for this Sansui. If they aren't, then he doesn't deliver 100w sin per channel.

  • @sharedknowledge6640
    @sharedknowledge6640 4 роки тому +1

    I like how the speaker switch is set to off apparently using this integrated amp as merely a preamp. Honestly this era of Japanese audio gear is mostly form over function and nothing special in terms of objective performance.

    • @PrimeHiFi
      @PrimeHiFi  4 роки тому +5

      The Sansui AU-11000 was being used as a preamp. The amplifiers being used were Kenwood L-07M's, which are objectively much better than many products on the market today. Stating otherwise is just a blatant lack of knowledge and pitiful ignorance.

    • @sharedknowledge6640
      @sharedknowledge6640 4 роки тому

      Connor G the fact is most vintage Japanese audio gear is rather unremarkable when subjected to the harsh reality of objective testing. I’m not saying it’s all bad, just that almost nothing Japanese was especially good. A Hafler from that era or a modern day Emotiva will shame anything from Sansui or Kenwood. Ever.

    • @PrimeHiFi
      @PrimeHiFi  4 роки тому +7

      I directly compared a DH200 to the L-07M’s and the L-07M’s smoked it. You seem to have little to no experience with what you’re speaking about. Also, Emotiva is a terrible amplifier manufacturer who makes sub par home theatre amplifers. I worked for a dealer of Emotiva and was consistently unimpressed with them.

    Проблема во всех Sаnsui и вообще всех японцах, в них нету нехрена басов!!!!!! Чтобы хоть что-то из них выжать, нужен эквалайзер!
    Высокие средние конечно на высоте но басов нету!!!
    Мой Telefunken TA-750 вставляет так что любой японский усилитель позавидовать может!
