- On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, NAEYC hosted a webinar with Janis Strasser and Lisa Mufson Bresson, the authors of one of NAEYC’s bestselling books, Big Questions for Young Minds: Extending Children's Thinking.
This webinar explores how asking rich, thoughtful questions that meet children at their individual developmental levels-an approach grounded in Bloom’s Taxonomy- extends children’s thinking in the classroom and beyond.

Thanks for all the information. I hope that I start to think in the mindset of higher level thinking . That I become a better listener of small kids.
These ideas are excellent for engaging children towards higher level learning.

Work with children
First of all, fantastic video and thank you for all the good tips! But I had some questions regarding the group problem-solving part. You said not to use the name of the child that behaved badly when discussing how to problem-solve as a group, but if it is a small class or the bad behavior was especially visible (for example one child started screaming and crying in response to another child knocking her tower over) then won't students already know which child is being referred to? Couldn't that still cause them shame? What is the point of not using names if it is obvious which child is being talked about? Also, even when talking about the victim or one child's positive behavior, isn't it still possible to embarrass that child? Some children (such as myself when I was a kid) are very sensitive and don't like having attention drawn to them. If a teacher were to ask "what did you do to help Alexa feel better after her feelings were hurt?" and I were Alexa, I'd be embarrassed being pointed out like that and having attention drawn to me, even if though it's worded positively. So I guess I'm just curious, what might you do in such a scenario?
