@@JaysBestDeals Yes, she may take shortcuts in her dishes, but the producers running this show never complain if she using a store-bought pound cake or cookies in the dishwasher episode. I'm just saying let's appreciate the amount of hard work Alexis puts into most of the components of her dishes. :)

The kettle has a dry boil function, it shuts off if there’s not enough liquid - to prevent a fire etc ☺️

I love how she’s walking us through and explaining as if we are going to cook using a kettle too.
Many people do and many more would do it if they knew they could and how.
In a dorm room, I'll be doing this.
That is in fact the reason I'm rewatching this masterpiece.
when i saw her turn on the kettle without any liquid, I was like "uh... you don't want to do that". The heating element in water boilers needs to be submerged in a liquid before you turn on the boiler...or else it short circuits and fries the electronic device.
also the heating element burns itself on the outside and can never heat properly again :D
Honestly a huge oversight on the researchers part. Could've been dangerous if the product didn't have a fail safe

@@ScissorWar yep I have this exact kettle and it definitely says to never turn it on with less than the minimum (2cups) of liquid in it. She probably also got lucky with the fruit.

I can't imagine them doing this. Mainly because it wouldn't be exciting to watch someone cook with a lighter, since it's practically just the same as using a cooker to make food but on a much smaller, laborious scale. Also, a lighter isn't really a kitchen 'appliance' so doesn't really fit the theme of these videos that well.

When you realise that unless it’s a very posh kettle they need a minimal amount of water otherwise the circuit fries on it that’s how she broke 2 of them.

This is great, until Alexis tried to go with the pound cake. My mind went like, oh that ain't gonna work. There's a reason why electric kettles have a minimum water level mark, because it needs to work with some liquid. Dried kettle can cause fire.

Kettle was my go to during my hostel days..my freshmen year began with just maggie( instant noodles) but by the end of the degree we were able to make masala potato and szechuan fried rice! 😆

I like making ramen with a kettle. Just put your noodles with the seasoning packet in a bowl or cup and pour the boiling water over it and let them cook. It's really good and I like them better than on the stove top
