Any sign of leakage, follow Mundane Mans procedure! Otherwise, the cabin electrical soy insulated wire harness bunches will be @ risk for corrosion. My late dad warned me about auto electrical damage, I’m experiencing it. Also, be careful about carrying sediment/ sand soiled recreational equipment on roof. My surfboard sand once clogged my drains. Thank you MM, but I’m singing the auto electrical wiring blues🥲
Going to go home and try this. My sunroof leaks all the way down to my overhead light and has completely ruined the speakers and stereo … I was away for a good while and wasn’t able to address the problem. Fingers crossed that this Is the only thing I need to do. Thank you
Thank you!! This has helped, but I'm trying now to figure out how to access the rear drains, so I can unclog them. I park on an incline and cant always back in, the rear drains need to be unclogged to!
Thank you for this, did it today and hopefully it works. Just noticed while driving I had a little noise from the sunroof like it wasn’t closed all the way. Looks like the seal or weatherstrip won the sunroof glass is starting to crack a bit. Any suggestions to fix it?
Thank you for the video. I'm in the process of buying a 2017 jeep patriot. Then while searching online I found hundreds of issues of water leaking from dome lights (front, back, and cargo area), etc... On all patriot models and began to second guess my choice of getting a patriot. Then, I came across your video. Do you believe if one keeps up with the maintenance you suggest, it would prevent all interior leaking issues? I'm hoping all the issues I read/saw are just from clogged tubes and neglected maintanence of moving parts (ie- sunroof).
If the roof has stopped operating do you think it could be fixed with a new fuse? My daughter's Patriot and it's been leaking from the dome light for quite a while....
How long does this work? I mean it's the middle of winter. My car wasn't leaking. I washed it off yesterday, and some water come down from my dome lights shortly after getting home from the car wash. I am half tempted to seal it off entirely and remove the fuse lol.
Im having thr moonroof leak problem especially with a lot of rain and wind. Ill have to clean thr dain holes out when its not raining. I have a 2017 jeep patriot.
I just had the same problem (2017 Patroit). Never a problem till yesterday during heavy downpour in Florida, I open the door and water is coming out the front dome light. I thought windshield leak on the top edge. I hosed everything down and didn't get any interior leaking. I fished the string trimmer line down on both sides with little resistence . The line stops about 4" down. It doesn't come out under the car. Anybody Know why ?
To continue; I cleaned everything up and did one more water test . I ran water down each drain hole, most came out underneath some came out the dome light. Maybe a bad drain line ... I don't know . I did notice in the center of the area between drain holes (the plastic channel for water to travel) there's some kind of fabric or tape on the plastic. Anybody know what this is ? Maybe a area that leaks water straight to the dome light .....
Thank you so much! Saved me a trip to the dealership. I appreciate your contribution.
Exactly what I needed, thank you!!
Everything did was very helpful. The problem was exactly like yours. Thanks and have a great day. 🌟👍
Glad it helped!
Perfect 👍 job. Now how much will that cost to get that job done.

Are there also "rear" drain tubes on the Patriots?
Very helpful and nice presentation. Thanks

A fuse fixed my wife's sunroof and her overhead light
I love you! Thanks.

What size wire is that?

I have a 2016 jeep compass does this mechanism work for this as well ?
Yes, it should be similar to the Patriot.
Is sunroof seal replaceable without removing glass?
To be honest, I have never attempted that job. I suspect the glass would have to come out though. Just guessing.
No, you have to remove it. I did that a couple of years ago and is not super hard just a little bit of labor.
