    for 11kV cables, how much DC voltage is injected for the test? is there any specific reference you use for this test to refer to? thanks in advance. 😁

    also tell in video if leakege current appear in device or cable how to trace it and how to troubleshoot the lekage current and how to set it?
    please make a complete video about any test with full information

    At the end i have seen HT clip is on cable end and earthing clip on other end of the cable actually that smaller clip should be grounded,since you are testing single phase respect to ground,This test set is meant for single phase testing only.There is another set for phase to phase testing.

    Sir, Power cable have 11KV 3-phase AC supply, then how it is possible to give DC supply testing for this cable? Please let me know about this ..Little bit confusion sir ..

      The hi-Pot test is used to evaluate the insulation condition of the test object. The Hipot test ensures that current will not flow from one point to another and indicates the ability of the insulation to withstand high voltage and over-voltage transient.

      Why apply DC supply...???

    • @electricianadda
      @electricianadda  3 роки тому +1

      When you apply a voltage between the core conductor and the conducting shield of a long cable, this cable is seen by the supply as a capacitor.
      If you apply alternated voltage on a capacitor, some current will be drawn, which is undesirable for a HIPOT test, since HIPOT equipment usually have low current capabilities and it may be hard to differentiate the “capacitor” current from any eventual breakdown current.
      When you apply direct current, after the voltage has stabilized, if some current is drawn, all of it is due to breakdown or leakage.
      So , from above discussion we can see that insulation testing methods are designed to use DC voltage not AC
