Others have already voiced similar sentiments here but your sharing Arthur’s work from these small Arboretum meetings with the wider world is such a great contribution. Production quality, editing, etc. is top notch here. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Ben for your time and all the efforts of everyone involved in putting this together. This was just extremely well done from a production perspective. As for the the tree and Mr. Joura's words: beautiful!
I physically gasped when he started sawing the bonsai down! Great video and what an inspiring lecture also! I've never done bonsai before and don't even know where to begin but I find your channel so calming and interesting to watch! Keep up the awesome work!
Excellent video. Video production is very professional. Great content. Enjoyed the zoom presentation today. I'll have to go back and re-watch your 6-part video series on Arthur Joura's trident maple styling from a couple years ago.
I'm so grateful you made it! I hope it wasn't too preachy or rambling. I can get that way sometimes. We'll be putting on some more Zoom programs in the future. Jump in any time, Gabe!
This is by far one of the most unique bonsai demonstration videos I have seen, while the video does not focus on technique, it has a strong message about philosophy which I believe is lost in the art sometimes. Great editing and a fantastic commentary in general, I hope to see more soon! Stay safe, cheers from Baltimore
Wonderful!! I hope to have another Arthur session produced by end of winter, as the editing for this took forever!! It's already been filmed, but I need to get cracking!
Yes it did. It's been 7 months since the program and it's still doing well. It goes to show the value of Arthur's experience with his trees. Health, growth, abilities to withstand the work, etc.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I mean this tree didn't really need dead wood added to it to give it more character. I even liked it better once it chopped all that foliage off of there before pulling it out of tue pot.
So what was used to join the two pieces??? I saw a drill at one frame but it was too far away from the tree to see what material he was using? Was it just glue???
He could have kept a lot of the man secondary branches and just pruned the foliage. It would have help the tanuki make it more realistic since you're making jin out of the actual tree
They didn't do the wiring for the demo, but I know that took several hours. Kinda boring watch for most people, so he didn't show that to the public. But this demonstration as shown took 4.5 hours.
Arthur doesn't use much cut paste on tree wounds, as healthy trees like this have the ability to quarantine off and callous over quickly. There's wood glue in between the two pieces, so I'm sure some of that is covering parts of the wounds. Arthur has used wood glue in the past to cover some wounds to prevent drying out, especially on deciduous branches he wishes to keep.
@@AppalachianBonsai great bot of info. I used grafting wax all the time on azaleas. I like the fact that you're young enough to collect material. Im too old now to invest the time. Keep it up, its a great hobby and i like your work.
Eu não tenho controle sobre isso. Esse é um recurso do UA-cam. Mas você não é o primeiro a apontar isso. Preciso levar isso em consideração ao filmar e editar.
The glue was just outdoor-rated wood glue. It helps fill in gaps, secure the live and dead tissues together, and can even be used to cover wounds, like cut paste.
Thank you. I was looking for such information, because Tanuki seems to require some gluing, too. I would give super glue a try or try to collect resin from some pine tree...
Sir..I seen most of video u get tree from forests fields...I have one question to u...How many did plant in forests or open areas...only decorating home is not enough...we should decorate our earth..so tell me how many tree did plant?
To be honest, just create its own natural looks better than doing tanuki for this tree. I would airlayer this tree before making some cuts. He is kind of abuse the natural look of this tree!
I think that took more imagination than you may have realized. The glue was to fill in cracks until the tree swells enough to fill the gaps on its own. It's temporary, as the tree was just styled. It will be developed more through the coming years.
I'm a Very big Arthur Joura fan! Thanks so much! it's good to see him again.

Where can I get the 6part video of the trident maple?

Excellent video and beautiful bonsai¡¡ Greetings from Sevilla, Spain¡
Did the tree do okay after that amount of work?
Yes it did. It's been 7 months since the program and it's still doing well. It goes to show the value of Arthur's experience with his trees. Health, growth, abilities to withstand the work, etc.
Was also my greatest concern. Will the tree survive that big manipulation?
Upload a pic or something. Nobody believes you
A fantastic production! Definitely radical treatment of a tree.
We miss your Bonsai Videos, please upload more of your bonsai adventure
Hoping so soon.
Beauty. Good video. Arthur Joura👍
What a bold decission!!! Amazing work thanks for share!!!!
So beautiful! I adore your work. Greetings from Belgium.
While I appreciate the art and expertise of creating this bonsai I don’t personally like it more than the original tree.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I mean this tree didn't really need dead wood added to it to give it more character. I even liked it better once it chopped all that foliage off of there before pulling it out of tue pot.
Deep words , awesome work , fantastic music . Thank you .
What a fabulous teacher. I wish I could be his full-time student.
Great work... makes me wanna go find trees and drift wood right now
Genial!. Video!!
I like before and after both awesome 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🏴🍀
Ben what soil did Arthur use? It looked like a landscape mix.
I love it. Thanks for sharing. Por cierto, gracias por los subtítulos!!!!!!!
Absolutely!
beautiful bonsai. I am from Indonesia. I'm also a fan of bonsai
So beautiful! You flow with the force.
Great work, it was very informative 👍
It inspires me, thank's
Good job bro you come back but never give up
Stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Good job mr.
So what was used to join the two pieces??? I saw a drill at one frame but it was too far away from the tree to see what material he was using? Was it just glue???
Wow...! The radical change is amazing and scary to imagine. Thanks for another great presentation. Cheers, Dick from Vancouver.
Did he screw the deadwood to the live wood?
He did. Very common way to secure the two pieces together. The screw can be removed later if need be, or hidden, or allowed to be grown over.
creative ideas, greetings from Indonesian bonsai lovers
He could have kept a lot of the man secondary branches and just pruned the foliage. It would have help the tanuki make it more realistic since you're making jin out of the actual tree
Great video! Really cool to see the process and the thought that goes into this sort of project
She's beautiful
Amazing video Ben! what a beautiful end result, what was the time from the beginning of the wire to the finished design?
They didn't do the wiring for the demo, but I know that took several hours. Kinda boring watch for most people, so he didn't show that to the public. But this demonstration as shown took 4.5 hours.
Thanks sir...
You give me big inspiration 👍👍👍
Que bella reflexión final. Gracias!
Indeed! de fato
Muito bom!! Excelente, quero muito aprender contigo. Abraço do Brasil
Abraço do Virginia!
Loved the video 🦝
thank you .., very useful for me beginners 👍
Amazing👍
very inspirational, now if i can just get the family to stop throwing away my dead trees so i can put them to some use DX
amazing thanks foe sharing
Tips, philosophy also teknikal content, superb master 👍💥💕
Very nice video, impressive drift wood. Question, what did you use to seal the juniper's wound?
Arthur doesn't use much cut paste on tree wounds, as healthy trees like this have the ability to quarantine off and callous over quickly. There's wood glue in between the two pieces, so I'm sure some of that is covering parts of the wounds. This was very informative. Will we see this little guy again? I would like to see how you weaved these two together.

I saw it two weeks ago during a visit. It's not ready for show yet, but it is growing healthily.
Uma dica importante, a legenda tira toda a visão não consigo ver

Great video. I don't like the result though.
Nice vídeo!

Abracos!!
I really, really like him.
Bravo mate
Glue? Which glue was used and for what? Seem to miss this very important information...
And, yes, me too I like better naturalistic than artistic!

Чем обрабатываете корягу?
Если я правильно понимаю, как сохранить древесину? В этом случае используется акриловый отвердитель для дерева. Это замедляет его гниение.
Tanuki
Quel dommage d'avoir massacré un si bel arbre en multi troncs...pour un résultat assez douteux avec ce tanuki ,je pense...😢
Like so much...
Sir..I seen most of video u get tree from forests fields...I have one question to u...How many did plant in forests or open areas...only decorating home is not enough...we should decorate our earth..so tell me how many tree did plant?
None at the moment, but I have seedlings ready to go.
@@AppalachianBonsai I hope u will do it soon..save tree save life
hello ok bonsai👍🙏
2:35 🤦🏻♂️
👍👍👍
The original tree was better!
Who placed writed text rigtly in front of picture?!!!! It is big nonsens, It would be good to change it!
That's a UA-cam thing. I wish I had a choice in the matter

Little imagination and no talent.
Please, no glue on tanaki!!
I think that took more imagination than you may have realized. The glue was to fill in cracks until the tree swells enough to fill the gaps on its own. It's temporary, as the tree was just styled. It will be developed more through the coming years.
Awfull... this is worse than Trump and Biden put together.
For what reasons?
😰👎🏻
