2022 Washington Old Timers MX - 50+ Intermediate Moto 5

Fifth and final moto of the 50+ Intermediate class at the 2022 Washington OTMX race in Horn Rapids Motorsports Park. Going into the final moto I was in a tight battle for 4th place overall with only 2 points separating 3 riders. My goal for the weekend was top 5 but with a good start and a little luck, 4th was in reach. I rounded turn 5 in about 5th, lost one position, and had a pretty close call with another rider that went long over a double fighting to keep the 5th position. I made one pass on the second to last lap to move into 4th place and wanted to stay there but I was getting really tired. On the last lap I had a momentary lack of focus and overjumped one of the big tables, landing so hard my GoPro shifted down and pointed at my visor the rest of the lap. As I exited the track, I was pretty sure I had locked up 4th place overall.
When the points were tallied and the results posted, I was suprised to find out I finished up in 3rd overall on the weekend. The top 2 riders overall were the class of the field, trading firsts and seconds in almost every moto. Third through 7th were separated by only 6 points, and 4th overall was a tie that went to the better finish of the two in moto 5. Great racing all! The top 7 overall finishers are listed below.

Just like last year, it was a very enjoyable event. Thanks to the Washington Old Timers MX Club for putting on the event, and to the Horn Rapids crew for the great track prep. It was a great way to spend Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait to do it all again next year.

Good race! I liked seeing a two stroke out there.

Thanks! I can't believe how well he did on that 125. I noticed a lot of guys racing 125s and 150s at Washougal too. I wish I had the corner speed to go fast on a 125 two stroke like that.

Yep! I knew he was close but didn't expect him to straight line from the inside. Glad I checked up a bit, it could have been bad.
