Good luck man! Some advice I wish I was told is the first couple cars are probably gonna take forever, your dollar per hour is going to be terrible.. But it’s all about learning the process and learning what stays the same for EVERY car, and what changes
Also, some methods will force you to double or even triple back on certain areas, make mental note and ask why and change your method around. I’m fairly new too so still learning but that was a huge thing for me at the very beginning. Good luck!

I call it detailer vision, and its my bane. I have to consciously force myself to stop looking at it with detailer vision. That's why i like having a helper with me, to remind me it looks fine (and costing me money by the hour) :)

@@Carlos.Rivera no lol… if you’re charging for a top dollar job for someone’s Porsche or Lexus then detailer vision is useful.. if you’re just charging for a normal paint correction for a standard moms suv then you do not need to make sure it’s absolutely perfect
It’s all in what you’re charging for that job

I was freaking out today. Did a one step on our black Lexus. Really soft paint. Asked my dad to look at it he said it looked fine. He asked me if I’m not confident with myself. I am but I detail cars for living. I have detailer vision. And I always go for perfect. I was limited with my pads as the variety isn’t great at our automotive stores in Australia.

    I have a quick question.
As a new detailer myself getting into the business, I wanted to get a little bit of your input to help my understanding.
    1. Would you say it’s mandatory as a new detailer, starting my own little detailing business that, it’s mandatory for me to have the ability to implement paint/body work and engine bay cleaning as, I’m starting up or can those amenities be added later on in the future as, I get better and more comfortable.
    2. Let’s say I just wanted the premises of my detailing business to mainly be about “Car cleaning” consisting of interior vacuuming, interior washing, steaming, extractions, salt/stain removal, interior polish etc… along with a car wash with no body work included as I stated in question 1. What would you say a detailing business with those types of services will be categorized as?
    3. Would it still be considered Detailing if I don’t implement body work services with my car washes, but still focus on interior details?, or would a detailing business with those types of services and limitations as listed above be categorized as a “Car Wash”?

Great advice from the voice of experience ! If you have extra pads ,this will save you time ,having to stop and clean the pad between panels. Fuel up, hydrate to keep your energy level up ! If you give out you will slow down !When I used to detail cars ,my wife would tell me ,you are not a miracle worker! Like you said not over think your work. Communicate with your customer what can realistically can be corrected and be confidant enough to tell that it will look a lot better.

Two step correction is very counter productive nowadays. Abrasive technology has come so far that you can easily achieve 80%-90% correction with just one step. Just need to dial in your pad and compound/polish of choice. 3D One is a good choice as well as Turtle Wax "One and Done".

    • @5hift6ear
      @5hift6ear Рік тому +1

@Aaron Garcia 2 step correction is always an option. However, most people aren't willing to pay a 2 step price. You can get close to 2 step results in a single step and most people won't know the difference.

Some good pointers here to focus on efficiency and not spend hours correcting the paint. One of the best measures is how much revenue per hour are you generating. Once I started having the next customer drop off their car a few hours early I increased my income. Having the next car waiting makes you move faster and get more efficient with your process.

I love your idea of the pictures and looking for reference just to keep your mind in check and your OCD. I deff. fall into that trap! When I hand a car over and I'm like.. man I didn't do that good this time... then the customer sees it and says.... OMG Wow is this a brand new car? It usually reminds me that detailers are too picky sometimes and have finer eyes than the rest. But at that point it's already too late! I spend too much time on it! LOL

Start off with a mild polish and pad and then review your results. If this combination works then you don't need to go any further. If it has not worked then step up the pad and then review. This is really the only way to know what works for your paint.

I got a question guy if you could help me out please. So I got the griot's garage da polisher but when I use it it's really shaking and I emailed them about that and they said normal shaking is okay but if it's too much I should send it for replacement. How much is too much shaking and overall why is it acting like that?

You shouldn't be putting hardly any pressure at all. The hand you use at the top of the polisher is only to help steady the polisher. Do not apply pressure with this hand. Use the other hand at the bottom of the polisher to guide and control it. It could be shaking also because you are not holding the polisher flat on the surface.
