- I got an old Tandy 1000 TX nearly 20 years ago, and due to a mishap, was never able to use it. Until Today.

I had a Tandy 1000TX and I added a math co-processor and an extra 128KB to it. I had to add a switch to the extra memory so I could switch it in and out as the PCjr games would not work if the extra memory was enabled. Still have the tech manual, though I don't know why. Nice machine. Oh I also had a Trackstar card so I could emulate an Apple IIe. I never had a problem using any PC program that would work with an 80286, stuff that needed the math co-processor might have had an issue, but since I added the math co-processor I never noticed an issue.
Adding the 128k of RAM for video is really important on the Tandy 1000 TX. You mention adding a switch to your machine so you could enable and disable the extra RAM for some PCjr games. Did you add the switch to where the jumper (E9-E10) was prior to adding the 128k RAM? Do you by chance have a link to the mod you did? and last, what specific games did you try that didn't like the extra 128k RAM?
Man this takes me back to when I was a kid this was the very PC that was the 1st one that I have ever used. Our TX had 768K of Ram which was the max for the machine. We played a lot of old classic Sierra games on it. We had a 3rd party Keyboard that was compatible with the Tandy but alas it met its demise on the bottom of the baseboard heater and also the PC itself met its demise when the hard drive went on it and it refused to boot again.
Are you planning on doing anymore Tandy 1000 TX videos or is your machine back on the shelf for another 20 years? You for sure want to add the 128k of RAM for the video which will give back some RAM for DOS to play nice with various games. King's Quest 1, 2 and 3 plays really nice on the Tandy 1000 TX. Game on!
It is still on my to-do list. I have obligations to others, first.
The TX already has a 286 with Tandy sound and video. I upgraded mine with a Xt-CF adapter, a nic, ram, and usb floppy. The tandy's supplies power to the floppy over the ribbon cable so you have to modify the adapter to not kill stuff. I also have the deluxe joystick if you want me to map the pin-out. It's analog with two buttons.

Oh no! And you know what will happen. You'll dig around looking for it, find a hundred other shiny things, do videos on those, and then forget you were even looking for the adapter! 20 years will pass and you'll remember, hey, don't I have a Tandy 1000?

I'm wonder if CompactFlash to ide adapter works on this computer. If it works, let it replaces the old hard drive. In case bad things happens to it. BTW, you can try "Battle Chess" on the Tandy 1000 TX,

I actually wanted to start participating in these events but I am just not setup to do it. Both video wise and room wise.
The only thing stopping you, is you. If you're honest, enjoy making content, and have a basic camera - you can do it. Just have fun and show the fun on the camera, and it'll be good. :D

I have several things going against me. One seems to be our perpetual house retrofitting because of new kids/kids leaving. Plus to much stuff, no where near enough space. Then the trouble that I have a face for radio and a voice for print :-/

@@JoesComputerMuseum No joke, it really is my favorite solitaire program. I always play the computer to try to get best two out of three. The computer never makes a mistake, but it always scans left to right. I try to play right to left a few times to see if I can get an advantage.
