Close. As far as I know the DC actually renders its screen in tiles, a tactic that can be helpful for effects and complex z-buffering, which is probably why the DC can anti-alias an entire frame with next to no performance loss while its contemporaries all suffer when they try to. Now that said, I have no idea how many tiles there are per frame or how big they are. It could even vary by game for all I know.
@@esppiral you are correct i played it recently and recorded it. It's weird cause ps2 version uses field rendering but runs at 30 fps which is something i only ever seen in smt games on the system. I got confused here cause deinterlacibg method used here was blend as opposed to adaptive.
In the Dreamcast version there are reflections in the glass, there are no reflections on PS2. The Dreamcast version also looks like it's running at a higher resolution.
it is, on the dreamcast it's VGA, I mean the resolution 640 or close to it on 480 while PS2 is 480i with field rendering aka it actually only renders 640 on 240 it in synchronization with interlacing (it just draws every other line of pixels at the time). In this game there isnt much drawback to it (outside of it being impossible to force 480p with GSM in the PS2 version) however there are many games where if there is too much stuff going on the screen starts to shake violently as it cant keep up with producing frames in sync with interlacing. I'm sure that if you played any of the early PS2 titles or the SMT games (not counting persona) you know what I'm talking about.
I'm from the UK. I can also confirmed that the RGB signal on the Dreamcast is better than the PS2. So even you don't use VGA, the Dreamcast still gives out a better picture.
They appear almost alike. As I work with pixels daily it seems like the PS2 is a bit blurry in parts of high action. The Dreamcast however solidly retains a clear 3D image despite camera tracking and large movements.
I've played both versions more times than I'd care to admit. I generally prefer the Dreamcast version however in the final section with "super ulala" the ps2 keeps a much smoother frame rate which is a benefit
Not exactly a taxing game for they systems and both run great however due to better digital to analogy conversion resulting in clearer imag. Smother edges due to true anti aliasing and higher resolution. The DC is the clear winner ( no pun intended )

Dreamcast, reflexo e nitidez nas cores. O aparelho mais injustiçado do mundo....
Salmonelas123 Why is a downgrade expected? Shenmue 2 on Xbox was identical graphically and actually ran better, cutting out the odd bit of slowdown the Dreamcast version occasionally had when the screen got busy!
Wow, very interesting! As expected, the DC has overall better image quality, better textures, AA, resolution, and sprite work. However, usually the devs will use the extra poly power of the PS2, and they did in later levels (seen this out of order), however, in the first chapter here, the DC has more geometry than the PS2! The curved edges of the floor and door have more polys on DC than PS2!
This would have probably been a more popular game if it had been a bit more forgiving. Game was just too damn hard for most people. There was 0 room for error and its almost unplayable now on a newer tv.
The ps2 version looks sharp on a 480i crt screen. I don't have the dreamcast version but I recon that has to do with a lot of the differences here. Part 2 has widesceen cheats available if you use opl. Though I can't get the game to run without random hitches even with mode 1 enabled. So I run it off the hdd then reboot into the disc. The hacks carry over on reboot which is cool. I could always put a disc menu option in opl but it's the only ps2 game I own.
A diferença é mínima.
Do you take requests? Could you do Guilty Gear X Dreamcast (JP) vs. Guilty Gear X PS2 (JP/NA/EU). For the PS2 version, maybe there's a way to force it to 480p. I'd like to see the comparison of the two versions with the Dreamcast's RGBHV and the PS2's RGsB. Regardless, you have an awesome channel. Your videos are great, I love your opening tune, and your mascot is cute.
I can't stop putting my fingers to this, but I think Hatsune Miku is suppose to be based off of Ulala. Fun Fact: Hatsune Miku has her own games nearly for the PlayStation Franchise but PSone. She has all her games for PS2 PSP, PS3, PS Vita, & PS4 a Quick mind blown. All her games are publish with Sega just like Space Channel 5.
I have seen a few videos with sega against sony and just wish sega got it right because most people have said how much better the sega is and i would have to agree
More detailed reflections on the glass walls on the dreamcast version as well as it running at 480p vs. 480i, but the shadows look a bit softer and better on the ps2, but it's a meh looking game to begin with.

Nicolas Darkness Wolf What if I told you that the DC has a higher resolution, anti aliasing and better 2D assets in this game than the PS2 Version? I'm a big PS2 fanboy but atleast my eyes don't deceive me because of that. I'm still wondering: why the fuck isn't such a seemingly simple game atleast the same in terms of graphics. The PS2 could handle this game in it's DC form... So why does it not then?
Screen? What are you talking about? You can plug both consoles onto the same screen yknow. The thing is: The DC has VGA output, the PS2 has Component output. The DC has 480p, the PS2 has 480i. Even so, why aren't the graphics the same? The HUD is heavily downgraded in the PS2 version, but there's no reason why it would be.
Nicolas Darkness Wolf The common screen would have most likely been a CRT. Which both consoles look better on than an LCD. Both were made for CRT monitors and screens.
-both run at 60 frames,

Man the Dreamcast was killed off way too early one of the best systems of all time
They appear almost alike. As I work with pixels daily it seems like the PS2 is a bit blurry in parts of high action. The Dreamcast however solidly retains a clear 3D image despite camera tracking and large movements.
I love how Oolala can say "we've defeated the singing robots" with no sense of irony whatsoever. 7/10.
Dreamcast wins. MUUUCH better Anti Aliasing on DC. Otherwise, they are the same
I was enjoying the color better on the Dreamcast as well
DC is better cause it's clearer, the lighting and the graphic movements so yeah DC is the winner
lots of jagged edges with he PS2 while the Dreamcast is cleaner and runs much better with more effects
I've played both versions more times than I'd care to admit. I generally prefer the Dreamcast version however in the final section with "super ulala" the ps2 keeps a much smoother frame rate which is a benefit

The Dreamcast version has seducing voices.
downgrade was expected since It is a port from DC. the game was designed in its entirety for Dreamcast.

Japanese for the win... Other than that, it's the exact same amazing game... which I wish I had played back then.

Why does Ulala sound so diferent in the first game?? It's suposed she has the same voice actress!
