Having owned ford Chevy and nissan , I can honestly say...overall I like titan best. Bang for buck it's just a better deal. All trucks are good though. Cant go wrong with any of those trucks.
I have to call BS on this drag race, something is not right here. My titan has a towing pkg so maybe a gear ration thing but it will blow the doors off a 5.3 or a 5.7 hemi truck....My brothers 5.3 is a dog barely enough power to spin a wheel or pull his bass boat.
Why does everyone hate on the titan? They are great trucks! I’m a ford guy and own a 04 superduty myself but plan on buying a new superduty in the next year but if I didn’t tow as much it would be hard not to choose the titan! If the interior was more updated I think it would be one of the better choices of the 1/2 ton trucks.
How about a test to see which truck can haul stuff in the bed such as firewood sharp gravel for the driveway 4'x8' sheets of plywood and drywall and so on .
Arguably one of the least reliable engines GM has ever made. 2007-10 5.3s are known for eating themselves alive due to AFM lifter failure. Had you said 5.7L or pre-2007 5.3L you'd be 100% correct. Time will tell how the new Ecotec 5.3s hold up.
Lord Saladin least reliable engine gm made? those things are bullet proof, theyre slow but bulletproof... i dont know where you got that information from.
Kind of makes me wonder how the Silverado RST with the 5.3 v8 would have performed. That seems to lean towards drag racing more so than the trail boss. Probably even lighter than the the Silverado TB as well. But these trucks are apart of the Gold Winch Awards so off-road trucks it is.
I thought there was a horsepower rating for premium/regular octane on the Titan. Regular fuel 360, premium 390. You might have to redo your test after filling up with premium.
Like I said in the bigger video this was pieced from, switch drivers and run the race again. GM has done terrible things to the shift rates in the name of economy. You'll need after market shift tuning to be able to enjoy the full power of the 6.2.
Hey guys I have the same truck but mine is a 2017 pro4x. I've raced several trucks on the track and my titan starts off in 2nd gear from a dead stop no matter how hard you mash the gas. With traction control off and manually shifting the truck from 1st gear it is scientifically quicker. I do have some mild mods intake, exhaust, headers and throttle body spacer. Only complaint I have is the transmission. Do you have the same issues?
could be true, you never know; he didn't say which Nissans he had. I bet if he had three Chevys, and they were a Chevy Sonic, a Chevy Aveo, and a 5 cylinder Colorado then he would have made the exact opposite statement. I have had three Nissans myself and kept them all past 225,000mi or so. And not one ever needed a major repair. matter of fact, i don't believe I ever had one in the shop even once for a repair, although i always do most maintenance myself.
my brother has a 2008 nissan titan and it cant pull a camper trailer, started overheating within 10mins. We had to stop at a gas station and switch vehicles (chevy 1500) and pulled it like nothin
sounds like your brother needs to fix his overheating issue. On a 10 year old vehicle without any other obvious problems, I would be looking at the fan clutch.
Ah ok I finally went to get a good look and drive a Titan, I've owned a few Chevy trucks over the past 40 years or so, year that's not too many but I have had a Dakota and F150 in the mix. So you care I keep my trucks for at least 6-10 years or 80,000-100,000 miles or so. The F150 was a new EcoBoost 4x4, that gave me head gasket problems, so I only had that one for less than a year. The Dakota was a great little truck, a reg can 4x4, V8 5 speed that was fun and totally trouble free for 12 years. As much as I like chevy truck? The Titan I test drove, a basic King Can 4x4, that was only an A, was actually quite nice and the engine sounded and pulled well. When I'm ready, the latest us a Colorado Ext Cab 4x4,v6 Z71 we least for a change. But when it's up next spring it just might come down to the best deal I can get between the Chevy, Ram and Titan.
The Silverado Trial Boss 5.3L Won 2 out 3 saved you the time. During the second run the Titan wouldn't start. Third race got it started as after a new engine, then the 7 speed shattered every gear lol. All joking aside the 5.3L is always dogged on but it always gets the job done & its right there next to all the big engines. Do i think it needs to be 4 valve like the 5.0L hell yes but for the money its a good engine.
I drive the "fastest" EcoBoost right now & i hope the GM twins of the new 2019 USA made versions (last gen was mostly crap MexiSHITco versions) beat them ALL. I loved my old RAM too but they need some upgrade for working out the truck better, nice interior shouldn't be the main focus. My heart beats CHEVROLET & it pains me to drive the others but i will.
Bought a 2018 Titan XD Pro4X with the Cummins almost 2 months ago and just hit 11,000 miles. Great truck even with the few things that need changed. 1 would be a larger full tank 26 gallons is too small needs at least a 40 gallon tank. Power towing mirrors should be standard. Driving back from a 4 day trip from Dallas to Williston, North Dakota and averaging 17.8 which is a lot better than what I was getting in my 2011 f150 which was 13 on the highway.
Factory a 88 Chevy it blazer 350 5.7l engine got around 13 city up to 16 highway with the auto trans, even better manual. But 11k...that's cute, our 90 k5 hit 11k about 287,000 miles ago, never has broke down and the best part about the k5 blazers is there is 0 recalls on the k blazers from 69 to 91 which is the ENTIRE span of when they were made.... impressive
I took my truck to Texas and installed the roar throttle controller and avg 250 to half a tank of ⛽ love my titan 290k and runs strong and great few minor repairs along the way but always been great truck
Impressively close especially given the smaller engine in the Chevy. The 5.0L in the F150 impresses me me most when it is right there in power with larger displacement engines.
Thing is though is the 5.0 is only a power monster for the size, but the torque pales in comparison to Toyota 5.7, Nissan 5.6, gm 6.2, and dodge 5.7. The 5.0 is more fitting in the mustang. imo they should’ve kept the 6.2, made power AND torque while not being as modern of a motor.
All of these company's are doing turbo gas engines like the EcoBoost and the GM's turbo 4. I want to see someone do an inline 6 about 4-5 liters gas turbo setup with low end torque like the EcoBoost.
Remember when 355 Horsepower and 383lbft of torque was a ton of power for a pick-up. To bad Chevy did not make the Ecotec3 back in 2007. Then it would have be the engine to have....
They are all plasticky and it depends on the level of trim. To answer your question, GM researched through customer feedback which led them to being conservative in styling. They styling and functionality has worked for ten years, they have improved it, made minor modifications, but remained conservative as that's what the owners wanted. Ya don't like it, don't buy one.
@@MrTaffiny1 they made the exterior look really nice however. It's just the interior that needs a overhaul. I'm surprised FCA got their head out of their butts and reimagined the new Rams.😱
I agree, if you are spending $40K+ for a truck, then you expect a higher level of refinement. The new '19 Silverados are a damn good looking truck but the interiors definitely don't match the nice exterior lines. Cheap low rent hard plastic dashes and interiors. I don't get it. I recently sat in a '19 and was very impressed with the body, but as soon as I climbed in it was a big let down as the interior didn't seem all that much different than the previous gen which was also a let down. This has always been the main complaint with Corvettes as well. How can they hire such good designers for the exteriors but then always cheapen the experience by having bad interior designers. I suspect the bean counters are at work here, but trucks and SUV's being so hugely profitable, they need to do better. Toyota also needs to hire some decent interior folks too...the Tundra and Taco need help.
I think this was a little unfair that new truck had cleaner valves as the direct injected engines get worse performance as the valves get carbon deposits
It would be really nice if you are taking the time and effort to race these 2 vehicles, that you actually post some graphics showing the 1/4 mile times and trap speeds for the watcher.
I just don't like the lay out of titan. Where they put the 4x4, 4x2 switch is stupid. And on the other side where the other buttons are they are a pain to see when it's really bright out or you have sun glasses on. You really have to look to see what you are pressing. It's ok once you get use to it but still a safety concern. My wife's Rogue has the same buttons on the left and sane infotainment system.
The non xd way lighter. I have a 17 platinum reserve. Can smoke r/t dodge anything....I think it underrated at 390hp. The infinity with the same motor code has 420hp. I'm sure a crown vic will still destroy I'd on dragons back.
First Ram starts out selling The Silverado. A few more comparison videos and soon Nissan will also be outselling the Silverado..... j/k..... Chevy would never let that happen.
Now that you’ve done the fastest production half ton truck are you going to do a three-quarter ton diesel who has the fastest quarter mile Ford , dodge or Chevy

Buy full syn 0w20/acdelco filter as called for, and change it every 6k, not when the dash dinger tells you to.
Just keep on rewinding @ 0:57 for about 11 times now. Going to do it again.
Its just fanboys commenting about a truck most know nothing about. If you want to know about the Titan ask an owner.
Why would anyone buy a chevy? Or any GM vehicle? They're all junk.
How about a test to see which truck can haul stuff in the bed such as firewood sharp gravel for the driveway 4'x8' sheets of plywood and drywall and so on .
Second Creek Workshop All the new 1/2 tons can tow and haul just fine. Drag racing is a lot more interesting to watch.
Need to update this with a 2020+ Titan with new trans and HP bump.
Will you guys test the 5.3 silverado on ethanol and tell us if there is any noticeable difference in power, please?
Why dont you do it and upload the results.
I own a 2010 5.3 Silverado and it’s a very gutless motor however they are probably the most reliable motors ever produced.
@@lordsaladin8903 i though the 07-13 5.3 was the same as the older ones. Guess i was wrong
@@lordsaladin8903 what about the 6.2 in an 09
Lord Saladin least reliable engine gm made? those things are bullet proof, theyre slow but bulletproof... i dont know where you got that information from.
@@dommartelli5529 they are junk.
Titans always been a better truck then the big 3 garbage.
More reliable and will still be working after 200k miles.
Good Comparison Video. That Titan just keeps showing it is a great truck.
I would like to see the Titan warrior compared to these higher end trucks
Men in pickups racing each other, is kinda like watching 2 kids race Honda fart cans 😂
I thought there was a horsepower rating for premium/regular octane on the Titan. Regular fuel 360, premium 390.
You might have to redo your test after filling up with premium.
That's on 2019 or 2020 titan(I'm not sure which one) this is a 2018 model.
Like I said in the bigger video this was pieced from, switch drivers and run the race again. GM has done terrible things to the shift rates in the name of economy. You'll need after market shift tuning to be able to enjoy the full power of the 6.2.
I have a 2021 Titan pro 4x but they should do that vs the 6.2 trail boss
Chevy sure looks a lot better.
You are the first person to say the 2019 is a good looking truck.
Yes it does
I agree
It does look way more manly than the others thats for sure.
@@Stuka87 It is good looking. Saw one in traffic the other night in Gulfport. It has a very tough, masculin look and stance.
Have yoi had the trans update done yet? Is was sluggish when shifting in my pro4x. They had to do an update on the trans computer...all good now.
I'm not a Chevy fan by any means but I'll take the Chevy over Nissan any day period after owning 3 Nissan's that were lemons no more nissans for me
I call bullshit. They have the best long term ratings for any 1/2 ton truck. Show some proof on said claims.
could be true, you never know; he didn't say which Nissans he had.
@@TriptoCo I agree. I've owned 2 Nissans and they were flawless. My 2007 Pathfinder was a great vehicle for the nine years I had it.
my brother has a 2008 nissan titan and it cant pull a camper trailer, started overheating within 10mins. We had to stop at a gas station and switch vehicles (chevy 1500) and pulled it like nothin
sounds like your brother needs to fix his overheating issue. On a 10 year old vehicle without any other obvious problems, I would be looking at the fan clutch.
I'm a diehard GM guy but they really need to dump the 5.3 for 6.0
Chevy problem was the tiers , X pro should be Vs Z71 not The Boss
Ahh the blind brand loyalty!
@Orange Bird i believe the 5.3L is basically a 327ci
I have a 5.3 and sorry but I disagree with you.
@@randygreen8916 it is actually considered a 323 ci. My apologies!
You guys should do a tundra vs titan or tundra vs silverado, great video!
Trail boss looks better tho
Cool video guys! How about putting up the f150 5.0 vs the rest in its class!? The 3.5 eco is getting too much airtime! Lol!!!
Great video I like both trucks but for reliability and dependability I'll take the Chevy 👍🔧🔧
The titan is just as reliable as any GM or Ford
You got that backwards chief
@@Dragonvale105 Nope
Uummm, ya. You have that backwards.
The last year gm was reliable was 2006, tired of hearing people say gm and reliable in the same sentence.
Looking forward to what the 2020 does with the 9 speed. Faster then the 6.2?
Chevy problem was the tiers , X pro should be Vs Z71 not The Boss
Yeah give me the Nissan
Yep... wait I have one.
My 2023 Nissan Titan Platinum puts out 400 hp stock and 395 torque . That’s more than the 426 Hemi
Did u run Trailboss in The 2wd or Auto mode?
But 11k...that's cute, our 90 k5 hit 11k about 287,000 miles ago, never has broke down and the best part about the k5 blazers is there is 0 recalls on the k blazers from 69 to 91 which is the ENTIRE span of when they were made.... impressive
I have 07 le 4x4 277k still strong great trucks
I took my truck to Texas and installed the roar throttle controller and avg 250 to half a tank of ⛽ love my titan 290k and runs strong and great few minor repairs along the way but always been great truck
Impressively close especially given the smaller engine in the Chevy. The 5.0L in the F150 impresses me me most when it is right there in power with larger displacement engines.
Its weight that keeps this close. ..and weight the helps the Ford be a little quicker.
Titan4life
Or just the custom trail boss for 43,000 like I did. The 6 speed to me is a lot better than the 8 speed.
Id like to know if they are getting any of the bed shimmy in the titan.
I have one, nope
That was a problem with the first gen Titan. My 2014 had bed shimmy but my 2017 does not
Haters gonna hate the Titan, always how it's been.
All of these company's are doing turbo gas engines like the EcoBoost and the GM's turbo 4. I want to see someone do an inline 6 about 4-5 liters gas turbo setup with low end torque like the EcoBoost.
I'd love to see that, or a 4.0 turbo v8, but a 4.0 turbo inline 6 would be better
Make the race longer titan keeps pulling
Remember when 355 Horsepower and 383lbft of torque was a ton of power for a pick-up. To bad Chevy did not make the Ecotec3 back in 2007. Then it would have be the engine to have....
I'd be thrilled to have either one of those trucks. However, if I was in the market, I'd be all over that Trail Boss.
I’d take that Titan
I often wonder why GM interiors still look the same... These Silverados interiors look the same from 2007. Plasticky. Souless. And bland.. typical GM
I'm surprised FCA got their head out of their butts and reimagined the new Rams.😱
plasticky? soulless? bland? you ever looked at ford, Nissan, or even Toyota interiors (especially ford)? These aren't luxury vehicles
They look nothing like the 2007-13 Silverado interior you dumbass.
I think this was a little unfair that new truck had cleaner valves as the direct injected engines get worse performance as the valves get carbon deposits
race at 3:20
32 dislike, they bought a chevy
They in Colorado ?
You got to be kidding the only reason the Chevy done well he had traction control engaged
It would be really nice if you are taking the time and effort to race these 2 vehicles, that you actually post some graphics showing the 1/4 mile times and trap speeds for the watcher.
This is just short tracked. If it was a 1/4 mile the Titan would put bus lengths on the chevy. But you are right.
You mean a 5.6l can beat a 5.3l? Crazy.
Just like saying the kia with its 3.8 cant beat the honda with its 3.5.
3:58 "Physics are one thing, horsepower is another". What a load of garbage.
I find it laid out just fine. Everything is in easy reach. Just wish the heated steering wheel button was on the steering wheel.
4x4 and 4x2 switch its the same in every 4x4 truck now days you dumbass
The non xd way lighter. I have a 17 platinum reserve. Can smoke r/t dodge anything....I think it underrated at 390hp. The infinity with the same motor code has 420hp. I'm sure a crown vic will still destroy I'd on dragons back.
NISSANNNNNNNN💪😎
If the 2020 RST or Trail Boss has a 6.2 option I am buying one.
Idk why GM didn't up the hp
In 5.3 in the 2019 model's
It sucks as bad as the old 6.0
Ohhh this word is freaking bad
First Ram starts out selling The Silverado. A few more comparison videos and soon Nissan will also be outselling the Silverado..... j/k..... Chevy would never let that happen.
Here we ago again with the butt hurt comments. They are trucks for hauling not sports cars for racing!
I take the trail boss that 5.3. Is a solid motor
I see start top in the chev.....am going nissan ......at least ford have an off button. I heard the gm twins dont.
A win is a win even if is by a Foot or by a hair ..
Love them titans
Never understood why they drag race stock trucks. If somebody is racing trucks trust me they are not stock.
Chevy needs to update the 5.3, gutless
I own a rear wheel drive Titan. And I smoked a 4x4 Titan 🤔. Confusing
RPG Features less weight
Just 2 axles. Shouldn’t make a huge difference. Rear wheel drive tend to quick torque response
Not just 2 axles, you have another differential, transfer case, skid plates , it's usually 6-700 pounds different in the exact same truck otherwise.
Steven Weigel your right forgot about the extra diff
I think the 5.3 sounds better than the 6.2 tbh
Same here!
Shorter stroke V8s usually sound better than long stroke.
Good video
Now race the titan vs tundra
Nissan needs to quit with those big ass headlights. Yuck
I want to see the titan 2020 vs the competition
Now that you’ve done the fastest production half ton truck are you going to do a three-quarter ton diesel who has the fastest quarter mile Ford , dodge or Chevy
A Nissan beat a Chevy!!!
I’m so torn with the Silverado.. :/ we have High Country High dessert, 18 and we love it! But this 19 is a just not what I thought it would be.
I love my Titan Pro4X in white.....but christ that yellow is hideous......on any vehicle.
Its just a nissan thing don't know why they still do it they have been using the " life guard" color ( that's what most people from southern california call it) ever since the first xterra came out
i think that Chevy did real good
Yoooo TFL ! Please do a Ecoboost 10Spd vs Silverado 5.3 !!
What the hell's with the black and white picture I didn't know is 1950s
