I adore William Holden will always be my favourite actor, so many great performances. Very good looking lovely voice, and a champion for wildlife conservation he was sublime. Gone too soon xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
One can learn so much by listening to William Holden and he’s not preaching either: He’s putting his views out there for us to explore and rationalise further. A good down-home American whom I appreciate and admire immensely.
The tribute he gave to Barbara Stanwyck at the '78 Oscars, stating how she helped save his career when things weren't going well is the best I've ever seen!
After his tragic death a few years later, she returned the favor at the Oscars that year and she broke my heart when she gave a speech during a tribute to the beloved star. She could barely control herself.
Johnny’s respect and admiration for William Holden is apparent here and makes for a thoughtful and insightful interview. William Holden’s intelligence and authenticity as a person is refreshing to observe in 2021 after all we’ve been through since this aired - great actor.
In my books William Holden was one of the top 10 actors of all time. He sold his rolls to audiences no matter what he was playing. And he was an intelligent individual. They don’t make actors like Holden anymore that ‘s for sure.
Network, my favorite William Holden movie. I've seen it a dozen times, beautifully written and acted. An adult movie in the true sense of the word. With Finch, Dunaway, Duvall, and a scene with Ned Beatty when talking to the Howard Beale character that is a piece of acting that is a flat out tour de force. Brilliant movie that lost out the Best Picture Oscar to Rocky.
He died accidentally and tripped on a throw rug as he wanked his head on a corner of a table while trying to put on a robe under the influence of alcohol and bleed to death . We list a good actor and person that day .

William Holden is a once in a lifetime actor, who the likes of him , we will never see again. RIP Mr Holden your still a big star and always will be.
Thanks, Jubal...knew not of Rondo Hatton. As a lover of old cinema...will check it out. Just caught up with Holden in the noir Classic 'The Turning Point'. Best regards:)
Johnny Carson should have spoke to the head of NBC and made that trip south of the equator with Holden for less than five years later in Nov.81 Bill Holden passed away! Never put off tommorrow what you can do today! R.I.P. Bill Holden
So much for the tribute to the brilliant Peter Finch who was the central character in that movie and received a posthumous Academy Award for it. I'm as mad as hell!
Holden superfan here! I used to work for Dick Clark Productions. Huge movie & classic actor fan. Holden had a great "voice" people don't mention. In 1956 he was the world's top box office star. @@johnkennethwiseman682 Sad but true. His acting in 1955's "Picnic" is superb but he's too old for the role and his face is already puffy from his heavy alcohol intake. But he got the role because of his strong box office appeal. In fact, he was the Number One male star of the 1950s !!

These actors are great but do you know who is greater? Jesus. He is selfless and loving. He died for everyone's sins, past, present, and future. Be careful when watching these films. We mustn't make these people our idols. Exodus 20:3-5 says "You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens on earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods." Not only that, but the end times are here. 2 Timothy 4:1-5 states "You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!" This is merely to inform people, not to attack them. God bless.

Holden was very gifted, and an extremely bright man. He had his demons like all mortals...but he always gave performances.
The magical, romantic leading man. The Golden Boy. Still my all time favorite actor.
He was fascinating to listen and watch. He’s been gone for 40 years and it still holds true
I heartily concur !!
He showed how versatile he was as an actor in "Picnic". Good movie with Kim Novak.
William Holden was all Class. One of the greats. Especially his work to help Animals.

Barbara Stanwyck had a lot of balls😊😊😊
He is one of those guys that actually had a fascinating life off screen. I suspect that being a film star was the least interesting thing about him.
Holden in the "Wild Bunch" .......legendary!
I agree 100 per cent !!

Holden was really good in that stalag movie. I am not surprised he won the best actor Oscar for it.

I now have a mental picture of William Holden selling ham and cheese "rolls" outside the cinema, and bacon "rolls on the film sets.

Indeed. I remember watching it on S4C in 1982. It was a new fourth channel on UK TV. It was the first film aired. A superb film.

Indubitably !!
