Right in the valley below me is Snake Hollow Road. LOL ! The motorcycle route is on those maps they sell at some gas stations, and runs from Bean Station up 31 to 66, then down 66 to Rogersville where it goes onto 70, then up 70 to Kyle's Ford where it switches onto 33, and follows 33 to Sneedville, where it switches onto 63 and runs up through the ridges to Harrogate.

I wasn't sure what to expect when this was recommended to me. Especially after this being on here for so long. Pleasantly surprised and makes me want a version of the original by Steve Earle done in this style.

@@winkleried You know that would actually make another interesting variation of the song. Instead of it being from the brothers prospective or the sisters, maybe its them both singing about it or something and at the end it switches to the only the sisters, (because if I remember correctly, everyone died but her in this weird song history thing.)

Finest version of this song I have heard. The alterations were clever, and the music is only lacking the bagpipes that Steve Earl used in his track of the same name. You still sent a chill through my veins slightly with the "Hey" . The pipes are so emotive and ragey that you could only benefit with them or a harmonica

This song was written by an aunt of mine outside Louisville kentucky before i was born she sold the writes to the song to feed her family they were poor tabaco farmers and never had much but they knew how to play the bongo and guitar .i remember visting them when i was a wee little lad and remember her singing us this song and telling us about how she had written it many years earlier and i remember us kids and my cousins walking down copperhead road to a little country store to get a ( soder pop ) as my cusins called it .we only had enough to get two and all 6 of us sat on the front step of that store taking turns sipping that nehie grape and rc cola and we walked quite a ways to get it and back to their home witch wasn't much more than a shack but it's what they had . This was some 50 something years ago never seen my cousins or aunt ever again couse we lived in Illinois and that was a world away back then .

Eddie Muldoon. Check out the band called Walk Off The Earth, (WOTE) here on you tube. If you watch this band, I promise you might change your mind about covers. To me and lots of other people, every song they do, is better than the original. They also produce their own original music. I really can't recommend them enough. Enjoy

I LOVE this song. I am descendent from the McCoy family of the McCoy/Hatefield feud, so I descend from a long line of moonshine smugglers. My mom was also born in Johnson City Tennesse and lived in Knoxville for years as a kid. I can relate to this song from my grandma's stories. I remember my mama telling me not to say anything if I saw a moonshine still while visiting Tennesse and North Carolina.
