    Pete’s philosophy has always been to keep the defense off the field for as long as possible with establishing the run early and then pull away at the end of the 4th quarter with play action passes. It worked when Seattle had a lock down defense; however, now that they have a weaker defense and were getting outplayed all 3 quarters they had to do what is most logical and let Russ takeover early and get a significant lead. Hoping this change is here to stay - Russ deserves an MVP

      One big issue with the old philosophy of time of possession and long drives was that we were routinely at the bottom of the league in three and outs. We were usually roughly top 10 in time of possession, but outside Wilson there wasn't a lot of success on a per play basis. My go to though was we've seen the Bears, Vikings, etc have decent offenses with mediocre QBs. If we had a mediocre QB they'd be injured within a week and we'd lose horribly.

      Tyler Fernandes I gotta disagree on that one. Last year, before Stafford went down, the Lions only lost one game by more than a possession and most of that was without their starting RB. They’re right on the brink of building the best Lions team we’ve seen in a very long while. It takes time to build the Belichickian-style team that Patricia wants to build, and if the Lions weren’t going to be patient with him, they shouldn’t have hired him to begin with.

    It is absolutely criminal that Cam Newton has an MVP, and Russell Wilson doesn't even have an MVP vote. Wilson is an excellent athlete, one of the finest running quarterbacks ever to play the game, and despite that fact has not missed a start in his career, unlike Newton. Wilson is the far better decision-maker, with vastly fewer turnovers, and is obviously superior to Newton in basically every passing metric, from ANY/A to passer rating to Total QBR to TD/INT ratio to completion percentage to plain passing yards, all while on average throwing significantly deeper passes.
    Wilson is, through all of this obvious excellence, a team-focused player, who consistently praises teammates and coaches before taking any credit for himself, and by all accounts I have seen is a superb leader through adversity, all of which is in sharp contrast to Newton, who can't seem to get enough of the spotlight, right up until things start to go wrong that he can't blame on anyone else.
    Can anyone help me out here? How does Newton have an MVP while Wilson does not, considering Wilson's individual quarterback performance was better than Newton's in his MVP season by every metric other than plain wins and losses?
    In any event, excellent breakdown as always, and I hope Wilson begins to get the kind of recognition he deserves for his level of play in the context of some more intelligently aggressive playcalling. I'm a Packer fan, and though that NFC championship game still hurts, through the first three quarters I could see Seattle leaving points on the field. It will be interesting to see if they can maintain their current level of offensive output this year.

    7:22 people underestimate how hard it is to throw a slant-go without the safety picking it off. Because of the fact that you need to pump and look aggressively to make the corner jump, you're giving the safety all he needs to pick it off, but if you don't, the corner won't bite. It's sort of a catch 22, but Russell has underrated eye discipline and is able to pump the corner, THEN move his eyes back to the safety to hold him back the go back AGAIN to deliver the ball to his receiver, all with great fluidity in the very thin time window allowed by the pass rush and free safety

    Poetically, your analysis and your litmus test in facing the Pats secondary reinforce this beautiful. Because while we did get to see Russ attack a world-class secondary, we also saw the creative post-snap magic he brings in order to compensate for deficiencies elsewhere in his offense in order to manufacture opportunities.

    Great vid. Big Seahawk fan. I’ve been watching this guy do this for years. Every year he adds another wrinkle to his game. It’s about time for that world to see. It’s about time that front office and coaches finally buy in with getting him weapons and protect to let that dude set the league on fire.

    I’m sure you’ve got plenty of ideas for future videos, but I’d love to see a deep dive on the Patriot’s new goal line offense they’ve been running, maybe a little later in the season when they’ve added more looks to the set they’ve been in. Through 2 games it looks awesome, and I’m sure Josh McDaniel’s will keep adding different looks to it to keep defenses on their heels.

    Let Russ Microwave WTF

  • @dpscribe
    @dpscribe 3 роки тому

    Having Elite QB like Russ and Mahomes is great start. QB who can process information of coverages, and make adjustments if there changes are keys to that type of offense. Having playmakers like Kelce, Tyreek Hill, DK, and Lockett boost the offense effectiveness. Having a good playcaller can help to.

    Did you watch the Falcons game. In first half, he threw the ball and only ran 6 times by running back, Russ had 83 yards, 2 TD passes to running back and was sacked 3 times. He also got hit 7 times. In second half, Seahawks running back ran 11 times, he threw for 239 yards, no sacks allowed and got hit 3 times. Tonight's game against Patriots, he threw for 5 TDs on 28 attempts. Ryan threw for 450 yards last week and Cam threw for 400 yards and they both lost. Cheap yards are easy, it's much more difficult to throw TD passes when you're passing all the time. Seahawks and Russ need to run the ball in order to protect Russ from getting sacked and allow him to take advantage of one on one situations. All 5 TD passes tonight was one on one coverage.

    • @erimgard3128
      @erimgard3128 3 роки тому

      He didn't say anything about just raw yardage or overall run attempts. He's talking specifically about first-down and second-down passing efficiency and aggressiveness. And...what does it matter if two TDs were thrown to the RB? Does that just somehow magically not count? That's stupid. And most of them weren't against "one on one coverage," they were against a zone defense where he moved guys around to exploit soft spots.

    • @chazlee2105
      @chazlee2105 3 роки тому

      @@erimgard3128 Look at all the long TD pass highlights from Russ and you'll see that it's always man to man coverage. If you continually throw on first downs, play action won't work on second and third downs. I know it's frustrating to see 2 or 3 yard runs on first downs but those run plays sets up his play action deep balls. Go and look at top 10 pass attempt teams every year and you'll see only Patriots and Chiefs make the playoffs and more than half the teams with fewest pass attempts make the playoffs. Last year Seahawks were 1 and 4 when throwing more than 35 times. They were 10 and 1 when throwing for less than 35 times.
      Numbers are clear, Russell doesn't need 30+ attempts to score lot of points. He needs few attempts with convincing play action plays. Russ is always in top 5 passing TDs.

    Having watched this after seeing the hawks offense dismantle the patriots secondary (especially metcalf completely manhandling gilly lock), i'd say letting Russ cook is holding up very well. This could be the most lethal offense the Seahawks, the NFCW and perhaps even the league sees this season.
