You'll get more creosote build up without insulation for a wood stove application. The good news is that the thin wall of a liner w/o insulation seems to expand and contract quite a bit which pops off the hardened creosote which then falls down. Just make sure it's kept clean!
Got the same cap on my wood stove..Should be free flowing now with the new liner. I guess no need for insulation blanket for the liner..
