    The best part about this park is how beautiful the beach is compared to how empty and quiet it is most of the time. More often then not you’ll be alone on the beach with no one but whoever you’re with. And as an introvert, that’s the dream.

    Wonderful video - thanks for presenting this. Great views of the bay and the local surroundings. Glad you had such good weather and company. It brings back some good memories for me. FYI, the spiky dinosaur on the Agawa rock is called Mishibizhou and is the Great Horned Lynx and guardian of Lake Superior in native American culture. It's worth checking out some of the legends.

      Sweet, I subbed to you too and will look forward to the AT trail vids. I have hiked some small sections. I did out and back to Blood Mountain, from Lake Winfield camp ground, a through hiker came down and stayed a night. Needed bear cans in that section and he did not have one.
      March same year went out and back to Clingmans Dome. Ice on the north facing slopes. Few years before I did mount Washington. Found an awesome camp spot not far from the trail if you want to avoid the huts. All my earlier shittyer vids.
      Good luck!

    • @backpackeralex
      @backpackeralex  4 роки тому

      Well there are two camp grounds, I would say camp at the one we did "Agawa" nice beach there unlike the other one. Lots of back country sites too. You should buy the waterproof map. As for snorkeling, most of the shoreline will do, the water is pretty clear. It is however cold. We lucked out that year and it was warmer than normal however.

  • @if9365

    • @backpackeralex
      @backpackeralex  4 роки тому

      Great Slave Lake might have somthing to say about that. You been watching Alone? Anyhow, yes relatively speaking the water in those Lake Superior bays were warmer than Tober within a few weeks. Tober has some wird upwelling on the point from deep water I figure. I think I'll listen to some Gordan Lightfoot tonight thank you.

    Great video...I am planning to go there this summer. Any advise??
    And I have a question: are you allowed to fly a drone in the park???
    Thank you

    • @backpackeralex
      @backpackeralex  6 років тому +1

      I would advise you to book ahead and bring rain gear and winter like clothing. We really lucked out with the weather and it got very nasty after we left. Buy a waterproof map to plan and explore with, lots of little trails and beaches you can see/hike from the road if you are not into anything rugged in the back county. Oh yea, bring lots of food booze and ice as its a long drive to Wawa. The park ran out of ice when we were there FYI.
      As for drone use, it is not banned yet in Lake Superior, but you must still follow transport Canada Laws. I would check their website for flying regulations and bans. They banned every national park and Algonquin has recently banned them themselves. I bet the bigger parks will follow suit or all Provincial Parks do it at once.

    Is the water very cold there? what month was this?

    • @backpackeralex
      @backpackeralex  5 років тому

      Hi Jeff, was mid Auguest. I always say the date at the start of each video. I would say mid Auguest is the warmest that water will ever get and its still cool. Might have been about 70 and it was a really hot summer. Paul said thats the warmest he had ever seen it, was my first time there so I did not know any better. It was low 30s in the south and some days there it will struggle to get over 20. Its one big cold, windy and wavy lake that is forsure. Thanks for watching!
