    And the sidewinds sign isn't about airports, but in places where wind blows along a valley from the side or over roads cresting hills. It comes from the local geography.

  • @ImranOO7
    @ImranOO7 10 місяців тому +1

    I do agree on the fact you want to be in control of your bike and use your left hand to slow down, stop or turning but you have to realise we drive/ride on left and so we should use right hand to warn others as they’ll see it better. A flag blowing is definitely windy and not an airport as it shows an aeroplane in the red triangle. Also, tinted glasses are not the same as sunglasses, they’re more like anti glare glasses or nighttime driving glasses. But you did good, just need to brush up every so often as motorists we should be doing since it’s been amended a number of times. So good work

    • @spicy110

      So why do we hand signal right with our left arm?

    • @geraldturner9297
      @geraldturner9297 10 місяців тому

      I don't think 'we'do, thinking about it, you will be slowing down to turn right , so do not need to keep the engine revs up, you are decelerating, same as stopping ,you will not need 'gas' to stop.
      You might be confused with turning left IF you were in a car, the hand signal for that is right hand / arm out with the hand in a circular motion .
      As far as I know Spice, you don't drive a car, so might not know this.
      It's not your bad , but I do find your musings good veiwing

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  10 місяців тому

      Trust me we do! Left Turn: Left arm & hand extending left, palm facing down. Right Turn: Left arm out, bent at 90 degree angle, fist clenched. Speed Up: Left arm extended straight out, palm facing up, swing upward. Slow Down: Left arm extended straight out, palm facing down, swing down to your side.

      @@spicy110 I think someone is in error, please consult the Highway code,
      A person controlling traffic may use the hand signals you describe, particularly to beckon traffic from the side, or behind, the traffic officer will be holding a hand up to the opposing traffic stream to indicate them to stop and give way.
      To be honest Spicey , it's very rare to see that these days, if for any reason traffic normally is just held up .
      That's the only situation your hand signals would be used, to direct standstill traffic.

At least that's what I've found, I only really do it with HGV's though, I wouldn't do it with a bus or coach. Obviously I don't do it all the time, but I do find it fun.

    I recently took my theory test to get my full licence. I must say I did do alot of practice, having taken my car test in 1972! when it didn't exist. I'm pleased to say I only got 1 wrong and got 65 out of 75 on the hazard perception, I know I'd have failed dismally if I'd not studied. I passed my test first time as well. I think direct access is not a good idea as my 6 months on a 125 duke was valuable experience on a less powerful machine. I've now got a 790 duke which could be a hooligan.

    Thanks for the video, great hobby! I just passed my bike theory test last week! I used a paid app and it had all the questions on every topic and as well as the hazard perception practice videos. There are lot of free resources like the website you are using too, the paid app just gives you everything you need in one app without any restrictions and tells you what areas you are weak on. Also tinted glasses is not always sunglasses, they are also including the fact that some prescription glasses have slightly tinted lenses, which then darker more in sunlight, but then remain tinted up to a certain amount even indoors. I have prescription reaction glasses but they are clear indoors and darkened with sunlight, but you can get some that remain tinted slightly even indoors. That’s what they are referring to being tinted glasses. Seems like a trick question 😁 because the first thought is sunglasses. Biofocal (the option you selected) are glasses that are just prescription glasses that have two prescriptions in each lense (top half for distance and bottom half for reading). You wouldn’t know if you don’t wear glasses hahaha 😆

    The windsock, is on the motorway towards Southampton normally seen on busy roads that cross big rivers.. I got 43 out of 50 :( - Also the slowdown one is wrong.. If you took your hand off the throttle, the bike would either stop suddenly, or slow to an uncontrolled speed. Depanding on motorcycle of course.

    Ahh yes, Millennial CPR, to the tune of Darude Sandstorm.
    Lmfao.
    You'll often see the "not a wind sock" sign on motorways or roads where there can be strong gusts. Usually around cliffs, wide open flat areas or bridges. IIRC airport signs are usually just an aeroplane silhouette in a red triangle.
    I learnt recently that the yellow-tinted night/low light aid glasses are a no no. I always thought they helped you see a bit better in low light. Tinted just means anything that isn't clear

    thing I struggled with on mine was the change of wording on the real test to the mock test + the hazard perception with clicking too early... I did manage to pass my theory test on the second attempt thankfully, on the first attempt I passed on the multiple choice and failed the hazard part by ONE point... to say I was miffed was an understatement, did mean however on the second go I did much better and atleast knew what to expect.

That said we have some of the safest roads in the world because of the amount of revising you must do in order to pass these. I failed mine recently as my brain can get muddled with stuff and i have to re read the question a few times. Even when i failed and reviewed the answers it was an ahhhhh ffs i knew this moment but it is what it is. Note it says pull in _when you can_ not that you _have_ to. I think that is the emphasis of the question, good practice is to stop in a layby if you are causing a massive line of traffic behind you for your own safety too, like tractors do a lot. I think they could have worded it a lot better ''Pull over in a safe place and when you think is safe to do so to let traffic pass, this is not a obligation but helps aid traffic flow and your own safety''.
