The main thing obstructing my growth is my social anxiety. It has made me miss countless opportunities and experiences, definitely the hardest battle I'm fighting at the moment. I just want to live life and grow, but it's so hard when that fear and nervousness is constantly there preventing me from being my weird self

I think you're brilliant. You have no idea the spider web of knowledge you have opened up for me. My husband told you once you were famous, and you denied it. I imagine by the time you're 60, you will finally realize how many people know your name. Since I found you by following warped tour, I have begun to learn Hindi, been to a Krishna Das concert, taken Sadhguru's Inner Engineering, learned to farm from Willie Myco, Followed Stephi Lee on her travels, learned about shamanism in Mexico. That's just the beginning of what you have brought to my existence. Thank you for opening my eyes to so many people! Many blessings and safe travels.

To the beginning part talking about how those true spiritual moments happen to everyone in everyday life, it reminded me of the first paragraph of the foreword of Albert Hoffman's book LSD: My Problem Child describing those special spiritual memories - " These [Experiences] are not particular
external occurrences, but rather events of our inner lives, which are generally dismissed as figments of the imagination and barred from our memory. Suddenly, the familiar view of our surroundings is transformed in a strange, delightful, or alarming way: it appears to us in a new light, takes on a special meaning. Such an experience can be as light and fleeting as a breath of air, or it can imprint itself deeply upon our minds. "

Put yourself in uncomfortable situations! Don't let your fears prevent you from doing the things you really want to do. When you get older, you begin to realize, that It's not so much the mistakes you have done in your life that you deeply regret, but the mistakes you haven't done. As you rightly said, Dakota, these are the situations you are really growing as a person. And at the same time it is one of the hardest challenges to master, especially in the beginning. Take care

This is so true! I've recently gotten out of my safe space for the first time in my life and started playing shows with my band. Some shows feel great and some are filled with problems and feel like a failure but it's only more motivation to continue being uncomfortable until things get better. I appreciate the wise words.

One thing I’ve learned from traveling on a 6 month trip around the world after I was trying to search for something or find myself was that no matter where You go, there You Are. You can go all the way across the globe, but if you are not happy within or find truth within yourself it doesn’t matter where you go cause you take it with you. I have discovered that the truth lies within our selves and that anywhere in the world people are all the same.

  • @SimSimmer420

I feel like more people would be weird, but they're busy trying to be a ' good, happy, fuffilled member of society', but weirdos are outside of that. In my opinion anyway lol

    • @teo6880
      @teo6880 5 років тому +4

I think it comes from the delusion in many societies that life needs to have some greater or wider meaning, such as impacting one way or the other our environment or other people, for many on a wider societal level. So many of us have convinced ourselves that life has purpose or needs to have purpose, when in reality(imo) the only purpose to life is just to live. I think because of this way of thinking, society sets constraints on how lives should be lived, leaving an unlimited amount of valid and wonderful human experiences "banned"(not literally but in terms of how society views those experiences), and also all the people who pursue those experiences made to be pariahs; and also those who have pursued those experiences in past cultures and societies.

Travelling around the world and learning about spiritual practice and wisdoms is all fine and dandy, not saying you can't do that and it makes for some crazy memories and stories. That said really think that the "golden nugget" of spirituality, or the "truth" everyone is looking for isn't out there. It's right here right now, in the present moment. Inside yourself. You don't need to go to the east to find it. You don't have to leave your house to find enlightenment. I came across a quote that was something like, you won't find zen at the top of a mountain top. The only zen you will find there is the zen you bring up with you

How weird is it that weird used to be so cool and welcomed in the 80's n' 90's, and then being weird just turned really weird,,,,,But How difficult it is to undo your weirdness once you've already been so weird your whole life , , , ,so its just weird to see weirdness from a different perspective, , , ,and to be @ peace with ones ever-expanding eccentricities is a uniquely weirdly wonderful spiritual path to BE on. Thanks Dakota!

been exploring, my life indeed~ to a trip to Ethiopia with a friend first generation since her great grandfathers exile back then in the early 90's. She never found family roots with all us helping research. I came back though to seek out my own biological parents, being an Adoptee. After 2 yrs I found my Bio Dad and a year later my Bio Mom. Look I love my Adoptive Parents their my Parents endearing..just wanted resolve and peace of mind among us all healing and in many ways so blessed such happen. Get this by my own Parent search...my Adoptive Dad rekindled with his estranged MOM...for me could not be happier.
Point is if you seek out to heal past, always embrace too others whom reflect with heart speak to do the same by leading by example no matter age....my Dad(yes adoptive Dad~but always my endearing Dad) healed unfinished w/ his MOM months after me finding my Bio Dad~ that led him too to heal past with his Mom.
She actually past 3 months later.
Synchronicity by following such through, non ego, but trusting heart speak, you never can imagine how you can touch another to seek healing of family past.
I am a testament of such with my Beloved Dad reaching out because of my own actions that touched him to make peace with his Mom~ my Grandma~ months before she actually past on...So Blessed my Dad had this chance to do so, was I a cathartic nudge for him~ dam straight I was in heart speak knowing, even without knowing so because I was also trusting my own heart speak path too...see how this works in divine timing~ so amazing in ways, you can't make this sh*t up,....it's spiritual manifestation for highest good by following your own path~ non linear ~ my you too~ go w/ the follow. Not easy either w/ good, bad, ugly and challenging at times. Yet push forth not doubt to keep shining your authentic brilliance through the banal deceptions at times, towards your heart speak always for it will never lead you astray as I shared about my beloved Dad. ;)

This video is one of the best by Dakota after a long time...
I think he should come to India and spend more time here.. I from India.. I sincerely wish he discovers more of himself in India.

"Say yes" needs to be intuitive, not a forced idealism
If we aren't able to intuitively/mindfully feel this all out, we might say yes to something that will harm us
