This is exactly what I was looking for, so many other video's don't show exactly how to do short hair twist. Thank you for being so descriptive and detailed. Keep up the fantastic work.
O' girl that was on point I so needed to see this tutorial at the length you went to. Today will be my first day I will try just because I saw you do it. Thank you so much for this BIG HELP!!!!
You did a wonderful job. You are a beautiful sister. This will be my second time growing dreads. However, I had the salon do it. You've given me the confidence to do it myself. Lets see if I can pull it off. No pun intended. Oh yeah, Every African family has a unique coil or kurl. And growing dreads is a spiritual experience. It is said they function as antenna picking up divine vibrations. Have you observed that many people who have dreads have their own unique style and seem to glow and radiate positive energy. Again, thank you. Ase
I love the way you say finger sounds like fanger. Your hair is beautiful, mine is a little longer than this and I'm so clumsy at doing my hair but I want to try this now that I've seen it done on hair closer to my length.
Your hair looks fabulous I will try this style out on my sister her hair is about your length now.i think it will be a great protective style now her hair is growing back after chemotherapy
I haven't finger coiled yet, im One month natural, did the BIG chop last month myself so Im emembracing my hair. Thank you for your step bt step tutorial. ..I needed that. So now I plan to try this..keep the videos coming
My hair is pretty short too, but I am going to pay someone to do it for me...you definitely have to have patience:-) You did a marvelous job....thank you for the tutorial.
Im starting my twist . Thank u for the helpful tutorial. The options of the products to use on the hair was informing. Please dont stop sharring, great job.
Thank you! I just came back to the hair industry. White and black hair training was still very, dare I say, segregated when I worked before. I'm thrilled to be in a fully multicultural salon now and can't wait to get my ethnic hair skills up to speed!
OMG!!! Thanks for the vid!! I can feel feminine again!! It will be a month since my BC and I've been stumped on how to style my hair. You're the bomb girl!!
I thought "fanger" was a brand name until I realized she says it with an accent :D. Besides that this is the most straightforward video I've found on twists.... thank goodness
i pay a young lady to comb coil. i tried using the teeth just the way my stylist does it & i couldn't keep the parted coils separated. i started searching for videos of people to teach me how to coil so i think yours is the nicest because you use the rat tail comb in the shorter areas i wanted to see that thanks for having a great video.
I really wasn't gonna watch this video cause i couldn't c the demo for ur hair being so short, but after watching the tape,i also ended up subscribing, gotta give u credit,u did damn good!!
I also tried last night to do the coils on his damp hair and I did smaller coils about your size. I used a spray on conditioner mix with leave in conditioner, holding spray, water, setting lotion and oils. I'm hoping that this will make a difference in the coils, but I think that because his hair has a naturally soft and curly texture that the coils require constant retwisting in order to stay coiled together.
when i first did my coils I only had about an inch and I used the comb for the majority of my hair and finger for the back which were the shorter parts of my hair
i've learned how to "sleep pretty" lol. I also use a bone pillow (you can find these for cheap at walgreens or walmart) that helps to keep your head off the pillow and i use a satin bonnet...not as much as i should though.
Wow.😲.this is a great video. .I didn't think it was possible to coil really short hair!! It takes patience 4ssure.. Yesss!!! Motivation! 💇👍 thank you!!!
great vid, I just big chopped for the 2nd time and was looking for options. Your instructions make it so easy to try. I do have a question: do you wear a silk scarf at night and if you do or don't, how does your hair look on the second day? do you do anything the next morning to refresh it? your hair looks shiny, what are you using on it. Thanks for the help, it is appreciated.
Thank you for measuring, I figured you just guestimate. I've never actually measured mine, but I think it's about an inch. It was a bit longer but I got scissor happy the other night and clipped some straight ends off.
no prob!! if you plan to redo them wash them every two weeks. i have washed my hair with the coils in and it was still nice, but just a little frizzy...i wore a headband with it..again it's pretty much up to you how long you want to keep them in.
Thxs for the video . I finger coiled my sister hair which it a little bit longer and people liked it so I'm getting paid to do others but they are guys and have shorter hair like yours so I was worried but looks simple.
You're an excellent teacher! I want to try the comb coil method. I've always done the finger coils in the past but it would be interesting to see the outcome of the comb method. Take a look at my response video, but maybe you can offer a suggestion about how to keep the coils from unraveling on soft textured hair. My husbands coild keep unraveling in the back of his hair where his texture is most soft and the coil just turns into a little fuzzy curl after a day...
Thank you!!!! I use leave in conditioners, right now I'm using Cream of nature...I think prior to doing that style I used Infusium 23 leave-in treatment. It's good stuff!! It will hold the same. Sorry it took so long to respond!!!
I love your tutorial! I have a TWA right now, did the big chop a little over a month ago. I have about an inch to an inch and a half of length now. How long will it take to do your whole head? Is this something I should do at night or can I do it in the morning before I go to work? Thanks for the excellent instructions! You are awesome!
@GTSouljah187 wearing your hair like this or in some type of twists does help with growth, when you're not touching it and constantly washing it and pulling on it. it does wonders for my hair and it grows so fast
thank you very much for the vid, I'm going to give it a try cuz I don't know what to do with my hair, lol. BTW, u r very beautiful, you remind me of N'bushe' Wright(she was in blade and Dead Presidents) and I think she is absolutely gorgeous! Take care!
It depends on hair texture/type. The more coarser (if that's a word lol) the fasting it will lock. Sometimes it can take up to a week to several weeks for hair to lock.
I enjoyed the video I am trying to learn how to do twist and practice so I can start making me some money so this video reeeealy helped and I also subscriped you!!
You may want to try gel that has a maximum hold (like eco styler) my hair in the back is almost bone straight so when needed i use gel that will cause my hair to harden up a little bit.
@youyoujim1 Yes the textures are very different. Coils work best when the hair already has some type of curl to it. Coiling straight hair would accomplished by the chemical process, perm, and rolled on the tiniest rollers to create a tight curl, simulating African American curls, then defined through various styling techniques using certain products.
This is more clear and concise than half of natural hair youtube! No rambling monologue about traffic or anything.
Wow. This is the answer I've been seeking for several months.
This is exactly what I was looking for, so many other video's don't show exactly how to do short hair twist. Thank you for being so descriptive and detailed. Keep up the fantastic work.
Nice tutorial. Much appreciated. Many of the naturals do provide tutorials, but not when their hair is at this length. Thanks very much!
Thank you. I went natural almost three months ago. Have a twa now and you really help me understand how to twist my hair.
Shalom aleichem,
Patricia
O' girl that was on point I so needed to see this tutorial at the length you went to. Today will be my first day I will try just because I saw you do it. Thank you so much for this BIG HELP!!!!

i've learned how to "sleep pretty" lol. I also use a bone pillow (you can find these for cheap at walgreens or walmart) that helps to keep your head off the pillow and i use a satin bonnet...not as much as i should though.
it is easy!!!! it does help with breakage, i consider it a protective style, i have left them in for 3 weeks without having to do much maintenance.
Thank you so very much for this video. My hair is about as short as yours, I will be trying this next weekend. Thanks!
