I wish Dwill would have stayed in Utah, The team had already built around him and with the retirement of head coach J Sloan didn't help either. My childhood equivalent to the Stockton to Malone days where the Williams to Boozer days, Best pick and roll duo of the late 2000's era.
This lineup would be terrible if playing in the modern era. - D.Will was not a great shooter (he barely had 3000 3's attempted in his whole career, D.Mitch is already at half that at 3 years in, with a better %). - Gordon Hayward was really good during his Jazz days, but has fallen off quite a bit. - Rudy Gobert hasn't made a single 3 point shot in his career yet. There's not a single player in this lineup that approaches 40% from 3 quite yet. Their defense is mediocre to slightly better than mediocre at best (except Gobert). I mean their average FT% is like 75% FFS. Not a single player who shoots better than 83% from FT line. This is like the definition of average lineup in the NBA.
@@theparkimlot5152 tf are you talking about? Deron Williams are better than the stats say. And Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert aren't supposed to shoot threes. This lineup would be amazing cause of the versatility. And plus we are talking about Utah Hayward, not Boston Hayward. They may not dominate you with the three, but their defense will be top 5 no doubt. Deron Williams is not a bad three point shooter at all. On Utah he shot over 37% 3 times and over 39% twice. Not to mention he held the record for 3s in a half with 9 before Chandler Parsons broke it. He was the best player on a team who consistently took on the Lakers in the playoffs and even made the conference finals in '07. He commanded a top 10 offense in the league consistently. When everybody thought the Jazz were going to fall into Mediocrity after Hayward left, Mitchell prevented that. Although he's not the best shooter or finisher, he lead his team to the playoffs consistently by being the biggest offensive threat on the team. Not to mention he's a top 10 defensive guard and is shooting 86% from the line. So far Deron and Mitchell would make a great combo. Both athletic and incredibly talented. Deron would command the offense and Mitchell would be a great two-way player. The Utah Jazz and Gordon Hayward surprised everybody in 2017 by winning 50 games and Hayward becoming a bona-fide star. Offensively, he could do it all. Score, rebound pass, but on the defensive side he wasn't as good. Despite being deficient on defense, the Jazz still posted the bets defense in the NBA. Now you add an amazing shooter and overall offensive player to an already extremely talented offensive team and you'll get some magic. Hayward is gonna play a lot of off-ball, but he's shown he can both score with or without the ball. Derrick Favors is a guy who can score in the post and as a pick-and-roll man and also can anchor the paint really well and move decently quick laterally. He's efficient on both sides of the floor, and is just a great consistent guy on defense. Combine his two-way skillset with Williams, Mitchell, and Hayward, and you have already a very good defensive team, as three of those 4 guys have been significant contributors to top 2 defensive teams
@@theparkimlot5152 finally Gobert. The man who has anchored a top 5 defense since the Atlanta Hawks won 60 games. This dude won't give you much offensively. But his defense is insane and he is a consistent Lob threat. Not to mention he's a very good perimeter defender too, and he has experience with three of the other 4 guys on the team. A team of Williams, Mitchell, Hayward, Favors, and Gobert would automatically be a top 3 defense. Not to mention with Deron Williams, Hayward, and Mitchell, you have a guy who controlled top ten offenses and two other guys who are absolute offensive threats as well. I honestly do not see how you think they are average. Sure spacing isn't the best, but why would they need spacing when three guys on offense are already excellent shooters? Maybe Mitchell isn't but his volume shooting will certainly get you buckets. And Gobert and Favors' offensive rebounding will be sure to make up for the mistakes of those three other Guys. Free throw shooting will definitely be the biggest issue, but three of those 5 guys shoot above 80%, with Mitchell peaking at 86%, Gordon at 85%, and Williams at 85% too on Utah. Scoring woll be no issue either, as everybody on this team are extremely efficient scorers, except Mitchell. Honestly, they're easily a top 10 offense and top 5 defense. And they are not average. An average team is the 2019 Orlando Magic. And average team is the Wall-lead Wizards. This is an exceptionally talented team right here.
could you make career highlights for John Stockton, Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Penny Hardaway, Isaiah Thomas, Tim Hardaway, Nick Van Exel, Jason Williams, Kenny Anderson, John Starks, and Magic Johnson?
Completely agree. Jamal is even more athletic and efficient but not as strong which hurts him defensively. I'd say Jamal is already a better scorer but D Will was a much better facilitator even at the same age. Part of that might be that Jamal doesn't have to pass as much playing with the best big passer ever but Deron clearly has him in playmaking still.
Hard to believe that Dwill and CP3 were once battling for the best point guard in the league. Now CP is still playing and Dwill has been out of the league for a long time now.
Man I remember when the conversation about the top 3 PGs in the league was about Steve Nash, Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Injuries ruined this guy.

One of the best technical players. What skill 🫡

He's not that great of a player if a team change was the reason he didn't play the same. People like KD and lebron don't have that problem

D Will was the man prime time. Dude had the strongest offensive arsenal in the league. Passing, Shooting and Dribbling were just absolutely elite.

Hard to stop a killer cross-over and finish it with a fadeaway jumper.
D Will CP3 Nash Tony Parker.. list goes on we've seen some amazing point guards
His crossovers are simple yet very effective
He was hell
Best era 08-2018
His attack crossovers were dummy lethal
People forget about Deron Williams he was a beast
It's like James Harden and Tony Parker. Big, shifty, loved to pull up after creating space, and could finish around the rim in any way.

Top 2
People forget he was the #1 PG at some point in his career. Deadliest hesi ever seen imo.
D Will was that dude in Utah, I remember trying to emulate his crossovers
People Forget how tight this mans handle was! such a clean game
His crossover is so simple yet so effective
WHAT A HESI MAN...BEAUTIFUL CROSSOVER

Yrah different stars again but nostalgic guards in 2000 2010 are the best
Dwill was sick until he went to the nets

Jrue Holiday, Baron Davis, Marcus Smart, Jason Kidd, Terry Porter.
number 3 for my favorite point guards

really used to be him vs CP3 until Rose won MVP fr
He was doing all this during the handcheck era
