    Thank you Tom Verducci, we who known Shohei for over 10 years have known this pure and wholesome guy who happened to have a god sent talent. It’s shocking when people in America is all about conspiracy, dark intentions and greed!
    Perhaps it’s a reflection of your own societies mentality that you try too hard to applied to everybody.
    Just enjoy this great talent and stop worrying about other things it’s not your money anyway. And like Verducci said, how can anybody
    do what he is doing, including deferred 97%, it’s for sure not going to be a precedent to any trend.

    Great interview about Shohei. I had to bookmark this one. When Verducci talks baseball, I sit and listen with amazement.

    I was told that when he was at Dodger Stadium to talk to them about his future that they sat outside of the offices in some seats just to take in the electricity of the legendary stadium and he talked about the past Dodger greats who's names are posted around the stadium. He knew the story of all of them.

    Brilliant. I'm certain that the balance is guaranteed. It's obvious that Ohtani is trying to win. He wants to play in the postseason where he'll face the best competition and be on the biggest stage. It will probably be a year or two before he's able to pitch again but it's coming. One day he'll pitch a no hitter while getting a grand slam. I truly hope that he encourages other 2way players to reach their potential.

    $700 million for a DH. Nobody knows if Ohtani will be able to pitch effectively in 2025 and beyond. He's had 2 elbow surgeries and now will be on the other side of 30 years old. The contract is asinine and none of these MLB analysts spinning the narrative can change that.

    Ohtani rules change MLB as we know it.
    He is the future in the making .
    As the only 2-way player, and as a strategist.
    What he did about his salary made him a member of the Dodgers front office during the next 10 years.

    Supposedly he makes about $50M a year off the field. If he didn't have that would he have done the contract this way?

    • @mirikaku5811
      @mirikaku5811 Рік тому +4

      Not possible for majority but for Ohtani making 2 million a year even without 40 dollars endorsements is more than enough. He was making over 2 million as a 22 year old in Japan and didn’t spend more than 20,000 in one year (!)
      Now he doesn’t spend much more than that still 😮Maybe 100,000/yr coz he dosent live in a dorm anymore..so 2 million is more than enough. His parents declined to receive money from him as his siblings who have their own normal home mortgage.

    He's willing to live on 52 million a year and the money he's saved off the 100 million he made with the Angels and the money he's made off the field already and the interest he's made off of all that. He's a giver.

    This is the problem with baseball and why the fans are lacking . The didgers were always the favorite but MLB is so desperate to have Ohtani in LA that they didnt care. If a player is being paid $70 million a year then the organization sbould be dealt that.. not $46 etc etc. Flame away but understand its not about showtime but MLB .

  • @daves400

    So much bull by Verducci…if Shohei would have signed with any other team, it would not be considered just an innocent deferment. The Dodgers always get special treatment by MLB and the press.

    How does the taxes work on this contract? Ohtani deferred all the money for ten years then he can move to a State like Florida which has no state income tax. So California cant ding him on all that income. Thats what this is about and helps the team as well. Great idea

  • @jamesbingham1007
    @jamesbingham1007 Рік тому

    So, the Angels had NO chance to sign him AND they were right not to trade him? This guy's an expert?

    • @TheAnimerunner
      @TheAnimerunner Рік тому +1

      Ohtani by name alone was bringing in too much money for the Angel's. If they traded him, the players they got back would probably not be big enough names to match Ohtani's marketing value. The Angel's are a franchise that doesn't care about winning so much as the money, and they were willing to squeeze out as much of Ohtani's value as possible rather than the possible accrued value of players they would have gotten for him.

      @@WASN55 moot point. dodgers will make bank during ohtani's 10 yr tenure - increased merch sales, seat sales, TV deals, ad deals - etc. the dodgers will make WAY more than 680 million during his 10 yr tenure off of him - probably by 10 folds and will set aside that money that doesnt affect player payroll in the future.
