I liked the variety in TTT2 this year. A lot of different characters were used and plenty of low tier characters too. I love seeing characters like Alisa, Yoshimitsu, and Ogre.
Remember the times when True ogre was so overpowered in Tekken Tag Tournament . When I was a beginner at the game ,OP players would use True ogre and ogre or sometime True ogre and Paul , they would use that wicked stretchy arm which I didn't knew how to block at the time and the burn.My favourite were always Jin and law and I also sometimes used Law,Paul and Jin,Bryan.During my beginner days I even managed to get hit by Paul's Super punch that took out 75℅ of the health anyways I have some fond memories of Tekken Tag Tournament . Those days were Very Good.
I completely agree, but when you get 2 Tekken videos and 13+ UMvC and 7+ Street Fighter videos, we must stand for our right to fight in a 3D environment!
KI has always been based off of other fighting games. If people can't see that than it means they never played those other fighting games. Even so, we like KI for what it is because it has its' own charms.
That would depend on whether TTT2 is even on the list of games for next year's Evo. TTT2 this year drew the 2nd lowest number of participants behind only Mortal Kombat. 1. SSF4 AE v2012 - 1,601 players 2. UMvC3 - 1,297 players 3. Smash - 696 players 4. Injustice - 582 players 5. SFxT - 545 players 6. KoF13 - 433 players 7. P4A - 400 players 8. TTT2 - 355 players 9. MK9 - 233 players
Tierlists became much less important in TTT2 than they were in T6. The tierlists are categorized in S -> B (S, S-, A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-). This is not random, but on purpose by top players. TTT2 is actually well balanced; Mishima's beeing top tier now is not due to their mindgame, but due to the giant hitbox of EWGF in TTT2 (and EWGF was already a good move). Tierlists are dynamical. You shouldn't blame tierlists, but your skill. Knee's ruling them all - no matter which char.
Hmm, I've only played Tekken 3 & 5 which so happens to have those guys as final stages (although it is true that is a more OP Jinpachi). But for example the lasers of devil jin, are those considered ban moves?
I think once Tekken 7 comes out we will see more traditional tekken come back.. It was sad to see Nin lose LOL. If steve was half as good as he was in T6 he would have won. Knee is crazy though
It wasn't sad to see Nin lose. His loss had nothing to do with Steve being worse (though he's still really good). T.Ogre is pretty bad. He just got outplayed in a game he'd access to for at LEAST 2 years longer than his opponent. Simple as that.
Regardless, Nin, Knee and JDCR are easily three of the greatest Tekken Players ever. So with enough experience and play, either one of them can beat each other.
I believe he was referring to the new Call of Duty game, and how their "advanced new engine" is now able to have fish, literal fish, move out of your path when you swim by. You know what game also had this? Super Mario 64.
But what's better. Choosing a character with a weaker metagame and less matchup information, or choosing a character with a stronger metagame, but having a lot of matchup counters. I can see where you're coming from, but choosing a less popular character means having less help from the community to get information and tips from.
yeah most people play pads. for tekken, pads vs stick doesnt really matter, and because tekken is traditionally played on the ps3, the superior dpad makes it natural to play with pad. im pretty sure theyre both playing pad.
PLS ANYONE knee tried to do a combo on ogre while in air at 8:57 and ogre kinda flew away and knee missed the combo...how do you do that with ogre? or does ogre do that automatically ???
Yea was kinda surprising. But what he did was, he took a lot of risk and it paid of for him. Plus True Ogre is hard 2 fight against if u dunt know how 2 play him or fight him. That plus Bronson used a lot of risky moves and it brought him 2 the finals. But ofc Knee knows how 2 play both Jinpachi and True Ogre, so it wouldnt work on Knee.
Mishimas were barely upper-mid tier in Tekken 6 BR. Bob was S Tier. Devil Jin has always been solid, but up until now, he was never considered OP. Also, Knee plays everyone, just about. Same with Nin. That's why they understand the game so thoroughly and dominate at tournaments. Their choice of character really doesn't matter, because they likely would have won regardless. Nin was beating other Korean players with Ganryu in T6 (who was pretty lackluster).
when your at that level and you have been playing for that amount of your at that point where you can rely on your current knowledge and vast experience transfetr it over and fathom out things for your self ok community advice helps, but at this level of fighting game development your pretty much capable of fending for your self. Case and point true ogre and jinpach are new chars that have been around for 10 months (console only). Im all for lower tiers winning
To the mass of people commenting "I thought I was good at Tekken." You need to realise this is EVO, professionals play. They spend months and years learning frame data, yomi, spacing, when to start hitting buttons, etc. Your hour-long sessions with your casual game playing friends is going to make you feel like you're "good," but without proper training and knowledge, no, you're not.
People can't talk shit on Killer Instinct. It is as classic as any fighting game. First one was in 1996. It is a cult classic, reborn. Can't wait for Xbox One.
First off: I'm not a Tekken player. I don't know how the fighting system works. But could someone please explain to me, why half of the fight seems to be decided just by the initial hit? Is it possible to escape from these juggles somehow?
+Zack Zavage Not unless they mess up or you hit a wall (maybe). They tend to be specific, which is why you'll probably see them repeat certain combos. You're looking to get them staggered and combo them into infinity if you can
i dont think its unfair because 1.tag crashes use up your rage and red health but save your life 2.if you have rage but get tag assaulted your rage switches over to your partner 3.it last a very short time so all you have to do is evade/wastetime and wait for it to run out
you're telling me bruce's cheapness isn't in the game so it's not fine??? I'm rly sorry but your logic isn't really comprehensible by me. You're saying that it's wrong to exploit a character's cheapness in a play to win game?
>implying 1-frame links are easy >implying SF combos aren't different depending on where they start and meter. >implying the pace didn't chance when PR Balrog switched to Buffalo in the grand finals.
well someone has played since t2, and have no idea who bronson is, that's wrong. bronson aka insanelee beat jr.lime from korea back in the day EC3. he's been serious threat to international players all the time.
I didn´t say he wasn´t, he was complaining nobody used Jinpachi like everyone using the same characters is good, that was my main point. It´s still below Devil Jin, and Bruce if i´m not mistaken
And ten years later, Knee won the EVO title again in 2022!
I liked the variety in TTT2 this year. A lot of different characters were used and plenty of low tier characters too. I love seeing characters like Alisa, Yoshimitsu, and Ogre.
this mite be the best idea ign has come up with in a while. please do more of this! it was sick

Damn, I used to think video game tournaments were lame but I do love me some Tekken and this was plenty awesome.
KI has always been based off of other fighting games. If people can't see that than it means they never played those other fighting games. Even so, we like KI for what it is because it has its' own charms.
I did , I played it more than any fighting as a young one even played the soundtrack on halloween
Man these matches are so awesome!!! very entertaining to watch too.
yes, think of it as a team as the first part of the name and the second part is the member name.
That would depend on whether TTT2 is even on the list of games for next year's Evo. TTT2 this year drew the 2nd lowest number of participants behind only Mortal Kombat.

From what i hear the old KI was one of the greatest fighting games of all time..
the USA guy was using tier 2 and 3 characters and made it to the grand finals. i give him props
luv Tekken...it's probably my 2nd favorite FG series behind SF.
What happened to MDJ? I remember him being very dominant in the previous Tekken games.
Dude that last round was insane.
Bronson put up a great fight but in that last round Knee completely obliterated him.
This was awesome
I LOVE Tekken and Dead or Alive. Those two are the only fighting games I like/am not bad at xP
He also goes by the name insanelee, and won national champion for both T4 and T5
Hmm, I've only played Tekken 3 & 5 which so happens to have those guys as final stages (although it is true that is a more OP Jinpachi). But for example the lasers of devil jin, are those considered ban moves?
They took it and made it better from what I seen
Both I believe. Maybe IGN didn't upload yet.
I really like to see someone playing / using other than top tiers.
Good job Bronson! ^_^
I think once Tekken 7 comes out we will see more traditional tekken come back.. It was sad to see Nin lose LOL. If steve was half as good as he was in T6 he would have won. Knee is crazy though

Soulfide this comment aged beautifully
its about time someone had the balls to play as characters they actually like
The Tekken finals were one of the best finals of Evo, better than SSBM and Injustice
00:24 Jinpachi enters like a boss.
Regardless, Nin, Knee and JDCR are easily three of the greatest Tekken Players ever. So with enough experience and play, either one of them can beat each other.
wish it was possible to be this good at the game and still have a social life.
its more so to introduce new players. its good for what it is
Bruce and jenn have a cool celebration cinematic.
I honestly wish i could spend the time with the game to be that good :( how do they get that kinda time??
I believe he was referring to the new Call of Duty game, and how their "advanced new engine" is now able to have fish, literal fish, move out of your path when you swim by. You know what game also had this? Super Mario 64.

Well to be fair we can only make sure that USSF4 and UMvC3 will be in next year's Evo.
Lool immediately after bronson shouted-out to the crowd. Knees just like * rage mode activated*
any body know what channel uploaded the rest of the tekken tourney, I wanna watch some of the earlier matchups.
because that is a wii u exclusive and i'm pretty sure the use fight sticks during the tournaments and the wii u can't use fight stick
Thank you IGN for showing the FGC some love.
its free, you have an "Option" to pay or not. Coins regenerate after a certain time period
Y u no fight with nintendo character costumes on?
What was the prize for winning tekken?
yeah most people play pads. for tekken, pads vs stick doesnt really matter, and because tekken is traditionally played on the ps3, the superior dpad makes it natural to play with pad. im pretty sure theyre both playing pad.
Round 3 of the first match was beautiful
CafeID is like their team name, so basically they're from the same team, probably sponsored by the same people like CafeIDKOF in the KOF13 tournament.
arent devil jin and ogre a little bit OP considering it's a tournament?
PLS ANYONE knee tried to do a combo on ogre while in air at 8:57 and ogre kinda flew away and knee missed the combo...how do you do that with ogre? or does ogre do that automatically ???
this gave me the power to work on my Dr. B/ Bob team.
good match! more evo videos please!
That guy Knee executed his combos pretty well and specifically he dominated with ease lol :D
Knee beat saint easily and saint beat the one called JCDR :D
Lmfao :)
No I am not I've actually explained this in a few more comments below to another guy.
and the thing is he didn't. Until the grand finals. He came 2nd in the world with Ogre and Jinpachi.
Like most fps games where the top pros come from Sweden or other Nordic countries?
Yea was kinda surprising. But what he did was, he took a lot of risk and it paid of for him. Plus True Ogre is hard 2 fight against if u dunt know how 2 play him or fight him. That plus Bronson used a lot of risky moves and it brought him 2 the finals. But ofc Knee knows how 2 play both Jinpachi and True Ogre, so it wouldnt work on Knee.
it means that fish you can see in call of duty underwater sequences actually swim bro!
Why are you hating on him for getting into top 5 without using top tiers?
Mishimas were barely upper-mid tier in Tekken 6 BR. Bob was S Tier. Devil Jin has always been solid, but up until now, he was never considered OP.

@Deon Allen you are not beating Knee if you could why didn't u go to evo
Not in UMvC3 or Injustice or Mk9!
People can't talk shit on Killer Instinct. It is as classic as any fighting game. First one was in 1996. It is a cult classic, reborn. Can't wait for Xbox One.

because ttt2 is a party game
tekken 7 is better
well i'm glad we are in an agreement then
What a match! Congratulations for both!
yeah which kind of aleviates the pain of regurgitation. i still need to get this game though :/
Right.....The fact you said they made it better than SSF4 when they clearly ripped it. Jago using shoryuken and Hadoken.
i dont think its unfair because
1.tag crashes use up your rage and red health but save your life
2.if you have rage but get tag assaulted your rage switches over to your partner

You're saying that it's wrong to exploit a character's cheapness in a play to win game?
The combo at 03:13 is just sick.
King of fighter =The best fighting game .
One punch repeated 1000 times is more effective than 1000 different punches repeated only once.
Unlike your COD,namco makes improvements to the series and add new gameplay mechanics, engine, and characters.
if you had to buy it i would recommend against it, but it's free so people should try it and then hate(like you have) or love it
I will like a game that have all characters. Tekken, killer instinct, mortal kombat, streetfighter, soul calibu, virtual fighter, dead or alive,
anyone know if there playing on stick or pads i know Americans are more fond of the pad
teamspooky might but it also might take a while i havent checked yet
Does anyone remember the Tekken game with Devil Jin and a little mini game thing in it?
>implying 1-frame links are easy
>implying SF combos aren't different depending on where they start and meter.
>implying the pace didn't chance when PR Balrog switched to Buffalo in the grand finals.
knee has the momentum on his side because he just won tekken strike in korea against JDCR
I luv this game
well someone has played since t2, and have no idea who bronson is, that's wrong. bronson aka insanelee beat jr.lime from korea back in the day EC3. he's been serious threat to international players all the time.
I liked tekken 4 with the finalfightlike storymode
Tekken 5 is my fav
Where's MK videos D:
So what are you doing here then?
I didn´t say he wasn´t, he was complaining nobody used Jinpachi like everyone using the same characters is good, that was my main point.
It´s still below Devil Jin, and Bruce if i´m not mistaken
Man I envy these pros I suck at fighters but I can't stop buying em. One day ......
This is the first time he's ever won evo I believe and I'm sure he's been plenty of times before
everyone has different opinions, so instead of hating just watch the video without making that kind of comments
Bruce/Devil Jin is my favourite mix, I hope I can master it like Knee
oh come on why no bryan taunt jet uppers knee?
According to Japan, Jinpachi is a pretty strong character.
Best tekken 3 nuff said
Very intense Match,
Knee switched his lars over to bruce because he knows bronson is a threat
Why is it when i come to a tekken vid there is always someone talking down on street fighter? cant we all just get along :)
I understood this comment once I saw the last round.
You're complaining that he uses his own style of play?
Agreed!
