Honestly, can we just turn this into a farming game? The farming and fish mechanics in this game are just really satisfying to me, and I love the exotic designs.
Subnautica is farming game but they didnt wanted to make it copy of farming simulators so they added lore. People now think this game is about lore but for real its about farming and fishing
Just a heads up for everyone, The Oculus Fish (peeper but purple, found in that underground purple biome) its the new meta fish in the game for food and composer efficiency.
Thanks man, I had no idea how to grow Marblemelon at first and just ate all the ones I could find and almost wasn’t able to grow Marblemelon until I went back to the island and found a Small Marblemelon
My strategy was to always build a pair of planters right next to my bioreactors and grow lantern trees on either side. Now as a food source lantern fruit are nowhere near as efficient as the bulbo trees. They do, however, make fantastic fuel for the bioreactors because they make tons of fruit per tree and unlike the other plants, they do replenish over time. So it guaranteed that I would always have a renewable and readily available fuel source literally inches from the bioreactor whenever I needed it. This approach solved all my base power problems for the rest of the game.
There's one aspect of the food mechanic in this game that I don't understand, which is that if you cook fish it immediately starts going off, yet you can store FRESH fish in a cabinet indefinitely. I don't even bother curing fish any more, I just stuff a cabinet full of fresh fish, pull out a couple when I need them, then cook and eat them straight away. Makes absolutely no sense, but it works for me...
Curing fish gives less stat boosts and takes away h20 so literally never engaged with that function. Seeing as water goes down way faster than hunger i cant ever rationalize doing anything that lowers water content. I think the devs were smoking during that creation.
@@guitarman0365I dunno if that was an old version, but curing for me gives the same hunger but - 2 thirst, not 20. Example: Reginald +44 hunger, -2 thirst.
I didn't know about the melon until after I had a cyclops lol. So when I found out, I traveled to the island base where it's planted...and I picked it and accidentally ate it. Idk where there's more so I eat the lantern fruit in my cyclops and drink auto purified water. LOVE that machine lol.
You saved my life sir I, found them but couldn't find them on the island no more because I ate it all in those abandoned buildings but now I know thanks to you I can chop em off
Ok, I have a stupid question. How do you get your first seeds/samples to stay good while getting back to your base? I managed to find almost all of those indoor plants but by the time I got back to my base the seeds had rotten and it wouldn't let me plant them! I'm probably missing something simple, but any suggestions would be awesome...
Hi! I just started playing recently myself but I gotta ask, how far are you traveling and what are you using to travel? My first island seems really close but I’m not sure if that just me. I legit swam there before I got my swimming contraption thing, the thing before the sea moth. My island is only about 600 m away.
@@horneytoaster4773 I'm using the sea glide (the little mini sub thing) and I went to the island to the south of the big crashed ship. I don't think if anyone's going to notice my comment but is it better to stick to an only-marblemelon diet? I've started my second playthrough and is beginning to construct my seabase wondering if it is even worth it to construct water filtration and alien containments at all.
How can you have 2 water filtration units with only 300 energy tops? I'm struggling with one unit and already have 2 bio reactors... Any tips regarding energy generation?
Only thing running in that base is the water filtration..plus i was tapped into a thermal and diverted it temporarily for the greenhouse for the video. Other then that 4 solar panels can power a filtration machine as it uses about 50 points a minute and a solar panel generates about what like 25 a minute maybe 90 seconds? Something like that..haven't actually set down and tested it this is off the top of my head (Edit) plus im still on the edge of the shallows with 4 solar panels ..ie above 100m
I remember early in the game there was a survivor who had these really efficient plants but I took a break from it and reinstalled it and all of the seeds I got from that place are spoiled can I go back and get it or is it too late
@@willvipperman8685 Yes. They are only cosmetically different depending on where you plant them. The Island crops are misleading because they have two sizes in the large gardens. This is otherwise impossible to emulate unless you console command or something. When you plant your own melon seeds it's always a one slot seed to grow one melon which occupies one slot.
fair enough tho i guess a challenge run in survival or hardcore with only coffee and chips as their only food and water source would be a drag if one where to do it if they had the machines lol
