They have a "ghost kart" piece as a place holder to prevent the issue of moving your kart then forgetting where the kart was (if you want to take a different path). It actually helps out a great deal.

Should the race track hex directly north of the start hex be turned 60 degrees counter-clockwise so that the race line is continuous?

I have the Kickstarter Gold Edition. My family enjoys the game. Even my 6 year old can play (and win) with minimal help from others. A lot of games come down to just barely winning.

Played this with a bunch of kids yesterday at public library…. They LOVED it! played pretty smooth for first time and with casual/non-geek gamers. It can get a bit deep with all the hero’s and epic heroes. The spells were basically the whole game along with basic path planning. I got requests to play it again next time.

For my money, this game comes closest to achieving that Mario Kart feeling than any game I have played to date.

So my go to for a Mario feel is Rush and Bash. It feels fast, you get items to use against your opponents and even has a pretty brilliant AI system that is super easy to use. I believe it may be out of print currently, but worth trying at a con or cafe if they have it!

@@joshestes6427Same here. Rush and bash is Mario kart in a box. Super easy game too.

I own over 30 racing games and this one falls into a strange spot. He's right that it's fiddly but it's also aimed at a younger audience. The spells make it so that tactics and strategy aren't going to be a good predictor of victory. Everyone needs to be ok with that. But if i want that, thunder road and rush and bash do that with smoother gameplay and less rules overhead. If you want the tactics and strategy in a racing game, there are many other games that do it better. I don't think i will be keeping this one.

Game feels like Mario Kart sure... but the set-up is awful and the fiddliness is basically game breaking for me. Played it maybe 4 times and sold it.

here is a hot take.. HEAT is not as good as everyone sais. it has almost 0 Player interaction. is just a hand managment game with the track being just a number tracker to the turn thresholds. if i wanted to buy a real Racing(with cars) game, Rallyman gt and Race formula 90 are best choices.

I bought it all excited for the hype and wholeheartedly agree… it sucks

Im ok with people having different opinions and may not like heat (I didn't like it my first playthrough.) However, saying something as blatantly false as "0 player interaction" is something I cannot just let slide. A whole giant part of the game is based around getting that boost of movement from landing around each other. Literally every turn you have to think where you will land and where your opponent will land, where your opponent thinks you will think they will land. That is player interaction.

@@nerdyjawsh of course the likes of each person are different. But I said Almost no player interaction And no not at all. And I had that mechanic in mind cause there is no other one there. It's in my preference that in a Racing game the cars are bumping, blocking, crash into each other. Although like you said everyone has his preferences

@@BoardGameGreeks I guess I missed the "almost", either way almost 0 and 0 is nowhere near the level of interaction that heat has. It is fine if you want heat to be something it's not but that drifting off each other is a pillar that makes the game, so it can't be 0 or almost zero. Throw in the fact that there are zero victory points and it's literally a race to the finish line, and everything you do is to do better than your opponent, then it's got a lot of player interaction.

@@BoardGameGreeks not to keep beating a dead horse lol but literally everything you do is because you are trying to gauge what your opponent is going to do, like is it okay to lower your gear to cool off some heat, or will your opponent be playing his high cards and take advantage.
