  • I made these Stained Glass Pears as an edible decoration on my Pear and Ginger Cheesecake on the Great American Baking Show #bakeoff #gbbo. I also made them for an audition for the show a year earlier when I wasn't cast. The culinary producer for the show loved them and I KNEW that I had to make them if I ever made it on the show! Our judges, Sherry Yard and Paul Hollywood, loved them as well. If these stained glass pears can impress those two, you are sure to impress your family and friends!
I love edible decorations on cakes, cupcakes, and other types of desserts. Fondant is time-consuming and doesn't taste great so why not make beautiful, unique, edible, and delicious painted pear slices?! They are not as hard to make as you would think!
There is also a complete write up on this technique on my website at

I used this video to learn how to make this as a drink garnish. It is currently being served at a 4 star hotel in Nashville. Thank you.

@benbyrd829 our seasonal menu just changed. So unfortunately the Pera del Fiore is no longer available. But I work at the Joseph in Nashville. You can still have an amazing cocktail at any of our 3 bars. 😁

Very beautiful 🤩 I have to make something dor an underwater theme graduation party and wondering if I could make them looking like sea shells. How long would they keep if I make them in advance and how best to store it?

Are the pears supposed to be crisp when done? How do I figure out that they are done?

Beautiful! What do you do about the seed part? Also, could you do this with apples? If so, what type of apple would you recommend?

It would be fun to try but I would use a firm winter or baking apple. A soft apple would turn to mush.

I store them in an airtight container for up to a week or two. They will soften slightly and get a little sticky so be sure to layer parchment paper between layers of pears.

Всё, отлично. Но, почему для цвета вы не выбрали натуральный продукт? Свекла, броколли. Вот, вам красный и зеленый цвет
