@@thatvideogamesshow its a platformer where you play as a fox, but you can change into other animals that change your abilities (for example you can change into a monkey and jump higher). Its very colorful and bright...the physics take a bit to get used to because the jumping goes by your momentum, but once you get it down it's a blast.
I love that game! Having to get up everytime I wanted to change character and press the pause button was a pain in the ass though haha. Very challenging game but fun from start to finish!
Phantasy Star was so impressive for an 8 bit system. It's a bit difficult, especially in the beginning, but it's a cool look at the JRPG genre from back then.
I can only guess from your comment that you're an American. The Master System has over 300 games in its library and it has easily as many good games as the NES. Quality over quantity. There's simply less dross on the Master System. This list isn't representative of the excellence of the game library. Two thirds of that library - including most of the best games on the system - were released after the system was discontinued in North America. Everyone can see the Master System is far superior technically; the "small game library" criticism is not only false, it's chronically lazy.
Not quite a top ten but my favourites of the games i own are Michael Jacksons's: Moonwalker, Space Harrier, Secret Command, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Sonic 1 and Action fighter.
Sonic 2 is definitely the worse Sonic game for the system in my opinion. The first one works a lot better. Otherwise, nice set of recommended games. Although how could you miss Streets of Rage and Hang On? 😛
Yeah, because he's talking about the Genesis release. Note he said "released on the Master System, and Game Gear." The Game Gear port was of the Genesis version, not the Master system version.
Good list. Some disagreements. Golvellius > Y's. Shinobi > Ninja Gaiden. Some games I would have personally included: Outrun, Kenseiden, and Fantasy Zone 2.
Yeah, I think Sonic 1 is more refined on the SMS over Sonic 2. Instead of trying to do the Mega Drive, Sonic 1 had it's own unique levels and music. It was catered better dir the SMS and was all the more better for it. Bridge Zone was better than Marble Zone. Sonic 1 had a Jungle Zone l which felt very unique for the time, at least until later titles. The music was probably the best of the 2D Sonics. And Sonic 1 relied on less gimmicks. Just a really good platforming adventure.
What is it with you guys lol. Mostly every channel forgets to put Wonder Boy 1-2, & they put 3 on the list. Is it because it's a remake? They are better than most of the games you showed.
I wouldn't say it's lame as it's a decent game and technically impressive for an early game on the hardware, but I agree it's nowhere near a top 10 game on the MS. Not even top 50. It's alright but the there's so many better games available.
My top 10 must have:
1 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2
2 - Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
3 - Fantasy Zone II
4 - Land of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
5 - Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
6 - Asterix and the Great Rescue
7 - Dynamite Dux
8 - Psycho Fox
9 - Psychic World
10 - Ghouls'n Ghosts
My top 10 must have (1 game per franchise):
1 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2
2 - Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
3 - Fantasy Zone II
4 - Land of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
5 - Asterix and the Great Rescue
6 - Dynamite Dux
7 - Psycho Fox
8 - Psychic World
9 - Ghouls'n Ghosts
10 - Penguin Land
*Great but you missed 3 big ones too! Out Run, Psycho Fox and Shinobi!* ⭐️
Yesssss! &an Outrun.
I'd have replaced Alex Kidd with OutRun personally.
My personal favorite Master System game is Psycho Fox...lots of good memories with that one!
Never heard of that one! Whats it like mate?

I like the idea of psycho fox but always find it frustrating to play
Oh man Psycho Fox. Loved that game. But I just couldn't get into it when they reskinned it for the megadrive. Decap-attack was just ugly.

Awesome picks!!!
Over here in the States the Master System was hardly talked about thanks to the NES
Great video dude :) Phantasy Star
Why are you guys playing Mega Drive music during a Master System video? Is the SMS music _that_ bad?
Very helpful, those games look awesome.
Thank you for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@thatvideogamesshow I did, and I also want to play Ninja Gaiden now.
The Master System was a better system than the NES, but it just never got the game library.

YES! Sonic 2 was by far the best of the two!
you missed rampage which is one of the best, if not the best arcade port, on the master system

@@godchi1dvonsteuben770 - They're not ports because they're completely different. Especially Hang On which is not called Super Hang On in this case.
@@godchi1dvonsteuben770 No, the game gear versions are ports of the master system versions.
Agree 💯
I like wonder boy 2 more. good list tho
Glad you enjoyed it!
Only short fall for Y's is you only get 10 lvls....
Some great games on this list

Kenseiden is a fave of mine. Great fm sound as well
Vanished omens and wonder boy 3 great games and the only two I ever completed
what is that music that plays during Master of Darkness its so familiar
Shining force 2,the best genesis game.
Kenseiden, shinobi, poseidon wars 3d
Music playing during Ninja Gaiden?
missing James Pond 2, Aleste, etc.

No land of illusion? Best game on the system
Please SEGA máster sistema mini😋
The Sonic games for the Master System were better than the Genesis

good list, but ive noticed in your videos you constantly use the phrase "sees the player".
First mega comment with so much mega powaaaaaaaaaaaaar! :v /
Space Harrier has no place in this list. It's a lame game.
