I get it and feel the same way about Joker but I actually think Schumacher showed a surprisingly deft touch here. IMHO he depicted D-Fens as a really messed up character that was in fact the bad guy, despite his protestations at being labeled as such. D-Fens used his “not economically viable” argument to cover the deeper issues at play. It’s a film that I’ve learned to appreciate more as time goes on. I often think about how poorly Unhinged depicted a similar type of character despite Russel Crowe doing all he could in that part. Douglas was incredibly skillful in FD - it might be one of his best acting jobs to date. Still, I understand and respect your opinion.
I will never watch that movie again because the lead actor in it is actually promoting the very thing the movie is about.
